Epilogue
He laid in his bed, it was harder to get in and out of it these days. Staring at the ceiling he remembered when he was a star and he ran and jumped, thrilling thousands. It was harder after Lex left. Took him a long time to get over her.
"Who are you kidding? You never got over her." He said to himself. He had married and had a family. Was even happy with his wife, Sarah was sweet and she had never tried to take advantage of him. She knew about Lex and never held it against him. Never once complaining about the pictures of her that were still in his home. He removed the pictures of Lex from his bedroom, before he brought Sarah to his house, he owed Sarah that. She was the one who suggested Alexandra as a name for their first daughter. He had cried and held her in his arms, telling her she was the most amazing and giving person he had ever met. He wasn't worthy of her. Five kids, he had always wanted a large family and Sarah gave that to him. He still choked up when he remembered hearing the first cries of Sunny. Now Sunny was a grown man with his own children. They all were, and Rob was lying in his bed, thinking of Lexi as he did everynight. He rolled onto his side, with a great deal of effort, his old bones protesting, and looked at the picture of Lexi on his nightstand. She looked beautiful, it was as if her smile was for him alone. But this night was different then the rest, he knew tomorrow he wouldn't wake up when the sun rose. He knew he would be with Lexi tonight and see Sarah again. Sarah who had left him just a year ago, gone to Heaven to be the angel, as she had been on Earth. He reached out and stroked the picture.
"Lexi...I'll see you soon." He whispered with his last breath.
He opened his eyes and there was a brilliant light surrounding him. He heard a laugh, one that he hadn't heard in 50 years. He spun around and saw her there. Smiling and jumping up and down.
"Well it's about time." She said pulling him into her arms.
