Chapter 6

When Herbie got up to go freshen up, the phone rang. It was Neal. “How’s the apartment?” He asked breaking the ice; it had been about two weeks since they’d really said anything to each other. “It’s great.” Steve said and pulled on his jeans. “Thanks for the eve…” Herbie stopped when he saw that Steve was on the phone. “Is that who I think it is?” Neal asked. He could hear Herbie’s low tones in the background. Steve didn’t readily answer. “I told you.” Neal said. “He’s not going to leave you alone; I can’t say that I blame him.” Steve flushed red. “Who told him where I lived?” “It had to be Gregg; you know I wouldn’t have told him, knowing what I know.” Neal said. “I have to get off the phone.” “I bet you do.” Was Neal’s response before hanging up. “What’s the flushed face for?” Herbie asked. “Can’t be embarrassment, you didn’t even blush when I had my nose in your ass.” “I figure if you want to go around sticking your nose in people’s asses then the embarrassment should be on your end.” Steve challenged. “Consider yourself lucky, I don’t do that to everyone.” Herbie said.

The men continued talking as they walked to the living room. Herbie stood there staring at the beautiful man, bare-chested in his jeans, with his hair slightly tousled. “That was amazing, best sex without penetration, that I’ve had in a long time.” Herbie said. “Sometimes I want to shout from the mountain tops my love for you” Steve knew it wasn’t love and so did Herbie, simply lust in its purest form that they both gave into. When Herbie left, Steve went to take a shower and then called Neal back.

The following Saturday, Steve and Neal met up for a late lunch. Neal was on a short leash by his wife. “Something you need to tell me?” Neal said, as they waited for their lunches to come. Steve sipped his iced tea and said “No, not really.” “Herbie was at your pad, correct?” “Yeah, so” “There’s only one reason why he could have been there.” Neal said.  “There’s a variety of reasons he could have been there, going over my contract, discussing new music…” Steve was interrupted. “Yeah, he was going over something alright.” “What is with you?” Steve asked. “Why do you need to know what went on, it could have been completely innocent.” “Yeah, and right now pigs are flying.” Neal said. “Wait…., are you jealous?” Steve asked, not knowing why Neal was being persistent about wanting to know what went on. “Jealous, of what?” Steve could tell Neal was anxious to start an argument and he wanted no part of it. “Look man, you’re married and what happened between us shouldn’t have.”

“Oh, so now you have a conscience?” Steve looked across the table at Neal, getting irritated. “I’m no saint, never said I was, but what went on between Herbie and I is personal.” “I knew it; he fucked you in the ass didn’t he?” Neal whispered across the table.  “Oh, now I get it, you are jealous; you think he got to it first.” Steve said. “It’s not good to make assumptions; I thought we were close enough to where we trusted each other. If I didn’t allow you to do it, why would I let Herbie?” “Why indeed.” Neal calmed down. It was silly of him to get worked up anyway; he was a married man after all and he like Herbie was in lust with a beautiful man that neither one of them could have. Neal decided to leave the matter alone at the moment; he could see Steve was not going to be forth coming with what really went on in that apartment that evening. Plus he didn’t want to get himself bothered and worked up over the image of Steve being licked and sucked on, when he himself wasn’t able to do it. He was trying to keep his vows to his wife, but Steve had a way of bringing lust out of people. Sitting across from Steve in the restaurant proved to be too much of a temptation. His hair was perfect, his eyes were twinkling; the sexual chemistry between them was palpable. Neal tried to think of cold water, or baseball anything to take his mind off of Steve; the way he felt, the way his hair smelled, the sounds he made when he was having an orgasm…………….

They got quiet as the waitress brought them their lunch. “I’m sorry, but are you guys from Journey?” “Maybe.” Steve teased. “Well ---------------- over there is a huge fan and she is too embarrassed to come over.” Both Steve and Neal turned to look at a cute waitress, cowering in a corner, mad at her friend for putting her on blast. Steve thought it was cute. “Tell her to come here.” Neal said. The waitress went to get her, and the cute one looked scared out of her mind. “I’m Steve, and this is Neal.” Rather redundant, of course the waitress knew who was who. “I’m your biggest fan, she managed to squeak out and then cleared her throat. To make her even more nervous, both Steve and Neal got up hugged her and kissed her cheek. If that wasn’t heaven, she didn’t know what was. She thanked them for that and went back to her duties. “That’s what it’s all about.” Steve said and dug into his food.
