Chapter 60
Carrie pov.
'Oh you've got to be kidding me........'Carrie slammed her hand against the steering wheel.
'What is your problem?..........Just calm down a little and stop taking it out on the car...........'Carrie gritted her teeth as she turned the key again, still nothing happened.
'Can't he go inside..........'Carrie pointed to her father in law who stood on the front step watching them closely.
'Carrie don't.........' Carrie knew taking her mood out on Kelly wasn't far but she just wanted to get as far away from everyone as she could. Her mind still couldn't get round what the record company had told her. The thought that she would have to tell Kelly was making her sick and now the fact that the car wouldn't start was pushing her over the edge.
'It's no use.....it's not going to start......'Carrie watched Kelly's father slowly walk towards the car.
'Something wrong ?.........'
'No shit Sherlock...........' Carrie mumbled gaining a elbow to her ribs from Kelly.
'Car won't start............'Carrie ignored the sudden sweetness in her wife's voice.
'Well come back inside and we'll call someone...........'Kelly was already out the car bouncing back into the house with her father. Carrie decided to take it a little more slowly, climbing out the car she looked up to the sky above her. It was already past ten at night, she knew there would be no way they would get away now. The thought of running was even more appealing now, if only the stupid car would start.
Kelly's pov
'looks like your here for the night Kel..........' Kelly smiled at her father before turning back towards her wife who sat sulking at the kitchen table.
'If that's ok.........'
'Course it is..........'Kelly felt her father wrap a loose arm around her shoulder. 'I'll get the spare room set up for you..........sweetie.......'Kelly turned to see her step mother look up. 'Will you get some pillows and cover for Carrie........set them on the sofa.........' Kelly's body froze as she watched Carrie's head shot up. She could feel Carrie's eyes burning into her, urging her to talk up.
'Dad I think well just go to a hotel........i don't want to put you out.........'
'Nonsense...........I'll get the room ready for you..........' Kelly waited for her father to leave the kitchen before she let herself look towards her wife.
'Carrie.........'
'Go and tell him no...........'Carrie sat gritting her teeth as she looked directly in Kelly's eyes. ' You go and tell him now or I will and you won't want me talking to him right now............'
'Don't talk me to like that..........'Kelly had taken a step back, she didn't like the way Carrie had been looking at her. 'You don't talk to me like that...........'
'Are you going to go tell him?.......' Carrie was now on her feet, Kelly could feel her whole body tense up.
'It's only one night.............'
'You leave me on that couch and I won't be here in the morning.............' Carrie interrupted. Kelly knew she was serious, the look on her face was really scaring the shorter blond.
'Carrie please.........'
'I really........'Carrie paused Kelly could see her straining to keep it all together. 'I really need you right now..........your going to have to pick between us............but if you go into that room alone I promise you I won't be here when you wake up................' Before Kelly could answer her father appeared back at the kitchen door smiling.
'Rooms ready.........'
'Dad I think we're just going to go to a hotel............' She took a step towards Carrie even though she didn't really want to. Her whole appearance at the moment was scaring her.
'Oh come on Kelly.......i'm really excited here.........you know how long it's been since you've stayed here.........now I know it's not fancy like most of the places you've been but give your old man a chance..........'Kelly stood between her wife and father both pleading with her to choose, her heart was torn. For years she had wanted this kind of relationship with her father, the kind that Carrie had with her own. She didn't know if she could turn her back on that now. She couldn't make that choice.
'I'm going to go freshen up before bed........'Kelly jumped hearing her wife's voice behind her. She kept her eyes low as she felt Carrie brush past her. Her choice was made for her, she was staying.
Carrie's pov
Carrie lay on the small couch looking up at the ceiling, all those feelings coming back. The months of sleeping in the office. Her stomach was in knots with it, the pain of the phone call from early almost forgotten as the new pain of her wife shutting her out again hurting even more. She looked at the clock to see 4:00am flashing, she must have fell asleep at some point. Lifting herself from the couch she gathered her her shoes and jacket from the back of the door. How she was going to get home she didn't know but she knew she couldn't sit at a breakfast table and witness Kelly's father gushing over a daughter he didn't even know. She gave one more look towards the staircase before quietly making her way out the front door. The cold air hitting her quickly but it didn't bother her, the pain shooting through her heart was the only thing she felt as she turned to leave the house behind her
