night time talks

Kelly's pov





Kelly watched Carrie race round to her side of the door the moment the car stopped outside her mothers home. The curtains twitched as her mother looked out.



'She's watching.....'Kelly warned as Carrie opened the door to let her out. Carrie stole a quick glance before pressing her lips over Kelly's



'And now her heads exploded..........'Carrie smiled happily as she helped Kelly out the car.



'Don't piss her off today.........let's try to get along.......'



'Hey now......'Carrie raised her hands in surrender. 'I will not be arguing with the woman today.........but I will not be shutting off my feelings for the woman I love........' Carrie leaned forward capturing Kelly's lips again. 'So if I want to kiss my wife until she faints I will............I'm not having them tell me what to do any more.........'



'OK.....'Kelly answered quietly. She knew her wife was right, they had spent five years tip toeing around her parents it was about time they did things their way. When Carrie final pulled away Kelly saw her mother walking towards them. 'Hey mom.........'



'Jeanne........' Carrie straightened her hair up as she turned.



'Girls........' Kelly could see her mother had been crying, her red puffy eyes looking sore.



'Mom what's?........'



'Shhh......'Jeanne interrupted as she pulled Kelly into her arms. Kelly melted into them, her mothers warm arms around her bringing her to tears. 'Don't let him win you..........your stronger than that.......' Kelly could feel her mothers hands rub her back while Carrie gently stroked her hair from the side of her. Having her mother and wife so close working as a team to help her brought on a whole new motion of tears.



'Baby don't cry...........' Carrie leaned in kissing her ear. 'Maybe we should get her inside........'Kelly could feel her mother nodding before she moved away from her letting Carrie guide her into the house.





Carrie's pov





The last thing Carrie wanted to do was text her mother in law, she really didn't need the hassle, but the look on Kelly's face while her father was telling her so many horrible things she knew her wife needed only one thing. She needed her other parent, the woman that raised her to tell her it was all lies. To show her that she was very much loved and that whatever happened in the past was not her fault. The only person who could do that was Jeanne.



'Carrie can you get you and Kelly something to drink........I'll go get some tissues..........' Carrie guided Kelly into the kitchen letting the shorter blond rest against the table top while she got them both some water.



'You OK?........' Carrie looked up surprised to see Kelly's tear stained eyes looking at her.



'Am I OK?........'Carrie couldn't help but let the small laugh escape her lips. 'Shouldn't I be asking you that?.......'



'I just....I just know you don't like seeming me upset........you get upset too........' Carrie rolled her eyes at her wife's concern.



'If you promise me not to bottle all this up and let it out....ill be OK........' Kelly let out a small laugh as she walked towards Carrie.



'I'm blubbering like a baby.......im pretty sure I won't be bottling this up...........' Carrie watched Kelly closely as she moved towards her.



'Just keep blubbering then......get everything out........' Carrie straightened up as Jeanne returned with the tissue in her hand.



'You should listen to your wife........i don't want you blaming yourself for that man's stupid attitude. ….....' Both Carrie and Kelly shared an amused look while Jeanne began wiping Kelly's face clean. 'I called him you know......'Jeanne continued. 'When I got the text from Carrie.........I called to see what your wife was going on about..........' Carrie felt a little better at the cold tone of Jeanne's voice, she liked the familiar way of thinking. Nice Jeanne was scaring her a little. 'And let me tell you.......he got a piece of my mind.......'



'What did you say to him?.........' Kelly's scared voice pulled Carrie from her thoughts of scary Jeanne.



'I told him how wrong he is..........he had no right saying those things to you........'



'He told you?......'Carrie was shocked that her father in law had admitted it.



'Oh he told me..........and might I add he blamed me.......told me if I was a better mother Kelly wouldn't have went off to find such a bad relationship..........'



'Mom please don't start......'Kelly pulled herself away from Jeanne to stand next to Carrie. Carrie knew Kelly was preparing for round two, preparing for her mother to disown her too.



'His words Kelly.......i don't think im to blame for your marriage.........'Jeanne stopped to take a breath. 'Ok not the right words to use...........i mean your marriage has been more successful that most...........You've both shown how much you love each other............'Carrie felt Kelly lean into her as her mother spoke. 'Your marriage is fine.........and it's your own......it's nothing to do with me or your father.......he just can't get past the gay thing.........'



'And you can.......'Kelly interrupted. 'You don't seem to cope to well with it either..........'



'When you first told me about Carrie......my god did I want to kill you but as the years have came and gone ive realised that your both meant for each other............'



'So why give me such a hard time?........'Carrie interrupted this time.



'It seems to be what we do.......'Jeanne shrugged. 'Doesn't mean I don't think your good for my daughter.........'Carrie let a small smile form on her lips ' and look so smug about it........a few months ago I thought you were the devil...........i may think that again one day.........but for now you and Kelly seem to be on the right path...........'



'Oh mom.......'Kelly threw her arms around her mother. ' I thought you were going to be like dad...........'



'Baby even if I hated Carrie.........and it could be easy to do.....'Carrie rolled her eyes at her mother in law. 'i would never do what your fathers done.....i may have acted badly a few months back but that was just because I could see you were hurting and I blamed her for that........but never would I disown you..........'Jeanne pulled Kelly back so she could look at her. 'No matter what you do your always welcome here........'



'And Carrie?.......' Kelly asked in a whisper.



'Oh I suppose that means her too.......but don't tell her that.........'



'Right here Jeanne........' Carrie gave Jeanne a small wave.



'Aren't you always........'Jeanne pulled away from Kelly to let Carrie move beside her wife. 'Now you can't drive any more today so I'll get the spare room ready for your both ............But you remember my walls are thin........and I have great hearing.........' Jeanne left the kitchen leaving Carrie and Kelly standing a little shocked at Jeanne's sudden change of mood.



'You know.......'Carrie turned to Kelly. ' I always used to think you got all your good heart from your father and that he was just so good at hiding it around me.......but im thinking you get it from your mom.........'Carrie shuddered at the thought.



'Did you just say I was like my mom?........'



'Oh don't tell her that.......'Carrie shuddered again. 'It's just all wrong.......' Carrie shuddered causing Kelly to giggle.
