Chapter Seven

As they made their way through the airport trminal they heard a sudden scream. They all turned in unison to see a young child, with black eyes, biting onto the neck of a security gaurd. Blood was spraying everywhere, the guard was screaming in pain and people around him seemed too stunned to move to help.

"Oh God." Renee whispered, seeing the child as one of them broke her heart.

"It's here, let's hurry." Desmond said.

"We have to help him." Brody said.

"It's too late."

"No it's not." Brody pulled out his gun and started walking toward the child, as he toward over her she looked up and hissed, blood dripping from her golden curls, flesh hanging from her lips. He said a silent prayer that God would forgive him and shot her head off. The people in the terminal went wild, the instinct to flee taking over and they began to run as far away as fast as possible. Brody waited for a few minutes, a sickening dread filling his stomach and he watched the dead man's legs begin to twitch. When the the eyes taht were staring at him went from blue to black and his hissing began to fill the air, Brody shot him without hesitation. Then turned on his heel and walked back to the group.

"Let's move." They all silently followed him.

In the private plane, Renee got Grace, buckled in between Nancy and Hank and moved to sit beside Rob and Brody.

"What do you think New York will be like?" She asked them.

"It won't be there yet will it?" Rob asked Brody.

"It was in the airport in Vegas. If someone gets on a plane, it could spread anywhere."

"Oh fuck." Rob said thinking of the impact of that scenario. It had spread so fast in L.A., they needed to get somewhere safe quickly.

"Will we be safe?" Renee asked. Rob took her hand reassuringly, and waited for Brody's answer.

"I don't know. If this spreads as quickly as they are saying on the news, New York could be a really bad place to be stuck. There's a good chance we all won't make it." Brody answered grimly. Once we get to New York we need to figure out if we can get a plane to Europe. If not we have to look into the boat idea. Maybe one of those big yachts. Get a big store of reserves and float us off shore."

"Maybe a cruise ship? All the way to England?" Renee suggested.

"I don't want to be trapped on a ship that could possibley filled with them. It only takes one person to be infected."

"Good point." Renee said shuddering at the idea of hundreds of those things on a boat and no where to run.

"So can we take a yacht or whatever to Britain?" Rob asked.

"I don't really know. I guess it could make the journey, we would need somone who knew how to get there. Has made the trip before."

"What if we don't?" Rob asked.

"Then we travel down the coast, sticking close to shore in case we need supplies, better to make a few quick stops in some smaller towns then try anything in New York if it becomes over run." Brody had thought this plan out a lot. Picturing different promblems that could present themselves. "What do you guys think?"

"If we can't get to Europe on a plane I think your plan is a good one. We can see what's coming at us from all sides on a boat. I'd feel better on one then barricaded in a house." Rob agreed.

"Me too." Renee added her approval.

"So we will just have to wait to see what's going on in New York." Brody said looking out the window.
