chapter 7
hey, sorry i've taken so long to update this story but i wanted to update two sites at the same time, i hope this chapter is good enough for you to forgive me! once agin, this is for my little pixie karin!
* For working out Ville's age I'm assuming bam is 16 so it's 1995 at the time they're talking (i may be wrong about bam's age but hey, i tried!)
That evening, a completely exhausted Bam climbed into bed. He'd spent the whole day trying to avoid Ville which was made difficult by the fact that he now lived with him and that he always seemed to turn up in the room that Bam was in at the time. To make matters worse, Ape and Phil thought he was wonderful and they absolutely adored him.
He felt more comfortable in the house now that it was night because Ville had left shortly after dusk to go to 'work'. Cuddling down under his blankets, he let the sight of the night sky lull him to sleep. When he woke, later on it was still dark out and he could see the full moon shining through his window. A glance at the clock told him it was just after midnight and he sighed contentedly, happy that he didn't have to leave the warmth of his bed for another few hours.
Turning over, he found he found himself pressed against something solid. He bit back a scream and moved backwards quickly, almost falling out of bed but caught just in time by strong arms. The solid thing he'd bumped into had been Ville. A very naked Ville who'd decided to climb into his bed in the middle of the night.
"What the fuck are you doing in my bed?" Bam hissed angrily. "Get the hell out, right now."
Ville tightened his arms round Bam's waist where he'd prevented him from falling and pulled him back against him so their bodies were flush against each other. As usual, Bam tried to fight him and push him away until he'd worn himself out, and as usual, Ville let him.
Bam let his head drop forward wearily onto Ville's chest and tried to regain control but everything that had happened was too much and he finally broke down. He barely noticed the first tears sliding down his face but soon he was sobbing uncontrollably into the crook of Ville's neck, allowing the vampire to cuddle him close and whisper soothing words to him.
When his crying decreased enough for him to talk, Ville pulled him away from his body slightly so he could look into the bright blue orbs. "What's the matter sweetheart?" He cooed gently, wiping away a few of the silent tears that still fell.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Bam choked out. "It feels like I'm going insane and I don't understand any of it. Why did you pick me? Why won't you leave me alone? how the hell are you real, vampire's shouldn't exist. They're just made up for horror movies and books." He babbled desperately.
"You're so confused aren't you baby." Ville said softly, stroking Bam's back.
Bam nodded silently, choosing to ignore the fact that Ville called him baby despite being told several times not to.
"I told you, I'll always answer any questions that you have." Ville said softly. "You just never asked. You shouldn't have let it get to you so much before talking to me. I'll start with the questions you've already asked. I picked you because you're beautiful."
Bam looked up at him like he was crazy and Ville shook his head in disbelief. "You don't believe me do you?"
When the boy shook his head, Ville gripped hold of his chin, forcing him to look into his eyes. "I told you that I'd never lie to you and I meant it. You are beautiful and the aura surrounding you is so bright that you stand out even in the biggest crowd. How could I not want you? I can't leave you alone. I can't remember needing and wanting anyone with the intensity I want you. I don't want to hurt you, I just want to love you."
"But...but you're not even human. You kill people. I'd never know if you were gonna kill someone I know."
"I know that me being a vampire is hard for you to accept, it was for me when I first woke up dead but after a while it's not so bad, you'll see."
"WHAT? What do you mean, I'll see? I don't want to see. You're not going to make me into a vampire are you?" Bam asked nervously, trying to crane his neck away from Ville.
"Not yet, but I will eventually at some point in the future."
"Why would you want to do that? You keep saying that you love me so why would you want to do that to me?"
"It's because I love you that I'd do it, to stop you from getting old and dying. When I said that I want you I didn't mean for a few years, I meant for eternity."
"You'd get bored with me after a few years." Bam replied, wondering why a little part of him was upset by that thought.
"Sweetheart, listen to me. Vampire relationships are very different to human ones. Vampires choose the person they want to be their mate, then they persue them until that person becomes theirs. Then eventually when the other person gives their consent they both drink a little of each others blood and become linked together. They can sense each other and feel each others emotions and pain. If one dies the other will too because they won't be able to live without each other, so I wouldn't waste all this time telling you how much I want you to be my mate if I was going to get bored with you."
Bam would have been alarmed with it all but the lazy circles that Ville was rubbing on his back had almost sent him to sleep. Smiling gently at the human boy in his arms, Ville continued to soothe him back to sleep.
Bam woke again to his alarm going off. He reached out for it but before he could, a tattooed arm reached over him and hit it, hard. It was then that he realized that last night hadn't been some weird dream. Not wanting to look behind him at the man in his bed, he started to get up to get ready for school but the same arm that had killed his alarm clock wrapped itself around his waist and pulled him back into bed.
"Ville stop it, I have to get ready for school." Bam said irritably, trying to untangle himself from Ville's grasp.
"What, no kiss good morning?!" Ville mock pouted.
"We're not dating, we're not a couple and we never will be, you need to learn that at some point." Bam spat.
Before he could say anything else, he was flipped onto his back and Ville's lips were attacking his, a tongue forcing entry into his mouth. The kiss was agressive, almost violent, all teeth and tongue and Bam couldn't even begin to figure out how to fight back against the assault. Finally Ville pulled back, staring at him with a mixture of anger and lust.
"You. Are. Mine." He growled, allowing his demonic face to show for a second. "Don't push me ok."
Bam nodded fearfully, his eyes wide and his heart pounding wildly.
"The scent of your fear is intoxicating." Ville whispered huskily, leaning down to nuzzle at Bam's neck, leaving the boy confused at his mood swings but too terrified to complain. He bit playfully at Bam's chin causing a choked whimper from him.
"You're not going to school today. I called your school and told them you were sick and your parents have already left for work so they won't wonder why you're still here."
"Why did you do that? It's the last day before the summer holiday and I wanted to spend time with my friends because a lot of them are going away for the summer." Bam was trying to be pissed off but his fear of the man that was still leaning over him prevented his voice from having much strength.
"We didn't get to talk much last night because you fell asleep so we can spend today getting rid of all the questions you have. Once they're all out of the way you can accept us together more quickly."
"Is there any point in arguing with you?" Bam sighed.
"Nope!" Ville grinned cheerfully. "So get back into bed properly and we can talk."
Bam scrambled under the covers awkwardly, not wanting to make Ville angry again but regaining enough rebelliousness to keep to the other side of the bed away from him. The rebeliousness was short lived when Ville simply moved over to his side of the bed, cradling Bam against him like something precious he was afraid to break.
"So what do you want to know sweetheart? I'll answer anything and even if I don't like what you've asked I'll answer it honestly."
"Uh, I'm not sure, I've never really thought about what I'd ask a vampire if I met one." Bam thought about it for a while fascinated that he was getting to find out first hand about vampires, despite the weird situation he found himself in.
"So you've already told me about sunlight issues, what else is a myth about vampires?" Bam asked, turning on his side to face Ville, forgetting about his fear of the man in his eagerness to learn.
"Hmm, let's see. We don't sleep in coffins or live in graveyards normally. I was just living there until I found a way of finding somewhere else to live. We can't turn into bats, holy water and crosses burn us, we don't have reflections and we don't age. The only way we can be killed is a stake through the heart. Is that enough for you?!"
"Wow. So how old are you then? I mean, when did you die?"
"I died when I was 19 and that was in 1950."
"So that would make you 64." Bam calculated quickly.
"Yeah, I'm a baby really! You were probably expecting me to say that I'm pushing 200, am I right?!"
Bam nodded his head bashfully. "It's just that in all the vampire movies and stuff, they're all really old."
"We do get that old, we are immortal after all but we don't age quicker than a human, just for longer."
"Can I ask you two kinda personal questions without you getting mad at me?" Bam asked nervously.
"I already told you that you could. Go ahead darling."
"Ok, how did you get turned? I mean, what happened? And what was your life like when you were alive?"
Ville was silent for a few long moments and Bam was getting increasingly nervous that he'd made Ville angry even though the vampire had reassured him beforehand. But finally Ville started to speak.
"When I was young, life was great. I lived with my parents and my younger brother Jess and we were the typical happy family that you see on sitcoms now. Around that time everything was a lot stricter and men had to be completely manly and dominant while the women stayed in the kitchen and obeyed their husbands every order. My dad was nicer than a lot of the men in our neighborhood though, he was a lot more laid back, or at least I thought he was.
Things all changed once I became a teenager though. I realized that I was gay, something I'd heard about but hadn't really thought much about. I used to be friends with a boy named Mige and we used to go to the woods at the back of my house and go for walks and one day, I can't even remember how it happened, we ended up kissing. He was my first kiss and my first love, we never got the chance to make love though.
We hid it from everyone as homosexuality was illegal back then, and continued on with our public lives the way we were expected to. We were laying in the grass by the river one day, just holding each other and kissing when someone saw us, we got up and ran, hoping they didn't know who we were and that it would be forgotten, but it wasn't. Before long, the whole town knew and our families disowned us and threw us out on the streets."
Ville took a deep shuddering breath and tried to compose himself as he talked about his painful memories.
"You don't have to tell me if it hurts too much." Bam said softly.
"No, it's ok darling. Mige and I knew that we would be arrested if we stayed so we decided to run away and try to make a life somewhere else where no one knew us. We only made it two towns away."
"Then what happened?" Bam whispered.
"We were wandering about looking for somewhere to stay when a group of men approached us. They knew who we were because what we'd done was a big crime back then and it was a death penalty if you were proven to be gay. They surrounded us and forced us both into a back street that none really used except prostitutes and their clients. They told us that they didn't want us here polluting their town but they were going to deal with us in their own way instead of calling the police.
They made me watch while they tortured and killed Mige, I can still remember his screaming as they burnt and cut him." Ville choked back a sob of anguish and continued.
"Then the guy in charge told the others to get rid of Mige's body. Once they'd left he tortured me like they had Mige but this time he didn't kill me. Once he'd beat me so badly I was nearly unconcious, he cut off all my clothes and raped me. So many times and so brutally that I passed out from the pain. When I woke up I found myself in a small cottage somewhere and a woman was cleaning my wounds. She told me that she'd found me naked and almost dead left on the floor in a pool of blood.
Everything around me felt different, colours seemed brighter and everything seemed louder. When I told her that, she told me that I would have died but she felt bad for me and she was lonely so she turned me into a vampire like her. When I told her how and why I'd ended up that bad in the first place she went out and found the men who'd hurt me and Mige. She killed them all for hurting her childe, for hurting me."
"Where is she now?"
"She was strange for the times we lived in and people thought she was a witch. When I was out one evening, the local community boarded her up in the house and set fire to it. When I got back there was nothing left but a pile of ashes where our home had been."
Blood red tears were streaming down Ville's face by now and Bam was aware that he had tears of his own flowing down his face. He now knew where Ville's insanity came from, after all if he'd had to go through all that, he'd probably be crazy as well. He knew that the man in his bed was a killer and a demon but right at that moment all he could see was a broken man that had lost the two people that had meant the most to him and had been cruelly treated for something that wascompletely natural for him.
Bam wrapped his arms around the slimmer man and let him bury his face in his neck and cry. He'd never been very good at comforting but he stroked Ville's soft brown hair and whispered soft consolations and reassurances in his ear, hoping that he was bringing the man even just a little comfort.
"Is that why you've never forced yourself on me? I know that I didn't want to have sex with you at the party but you let me fuck you, not the other way round."
"Yes. I won't cause you that pain, you're the only person I've loved since Mige and I could never harm you like that. If you ever want me to I will but it will be gentle and perfect and everything it should be."
Any other time Bam would have laughed at how corny he sounded and reminded him that he wouldn't EVER be with him, but right then, he couldn't do it. Not when big green eyes with smudged makeup were looking at him and he was facing the broken, distraught teenage boy that was still hiding inside Ville.
It was hard to believe that he, plain ordinary 16 year old Bam Margera, could have allowed Ville to love again after 45 years of being on his own but he realized that, today at least, he couldn't shatter Ville's fragile heart.
