Chapter 70
So, it's not quite as long as normal, but i figured since it's been a while, it's better than no update, so yea, lol.

"So what do you think?" Keith Urban asked, sitting beside Kelly as Carrie talked to her tour manager after the rehearsals had ended.
"I really think it's going to be a great show. Your live show is amazing. I told you that after I saw your last show," Kelly replied.
"So how jealous are you?" he smiled, teasingly.
"Of what?"
"Me."
Kelly laughed, "And why would I be jealous of you?"
"I don't know...I mean, we're both short, have accents, Carrie's gonna get lonely..."
"Shut up," Kelly pushed him playfully.
He laughed, "You have no clue how refreshing that is."
"Really?"
"I always have to deal with the jealous boyfriend when I have a girl out on tour with me, whether in the band or opening up."
"You're in love," Kelly shrugged. "You know what it's like to trust someone."
"Exactly. You just don't see that too much in this industry. That's why I said it was refreshing."
"So how Nicole's doing?" Kelly asked curiously.
"She's glowing," he beamed proudly.
"Well, what else is new? She's always gorgeous."
"You haven't heard?" Keith asked curiously.
"Heard what?"
"She's pregnant."
"She's pregnant?" Kelly squeaked, her face lighting up.
"Yep. Nearly four months now."
"Aw, Keith," Kelly pulled him into a hug. "Congratulations. Y'all are going to be great parents, and that baby is going to be beautiful."
"Thanks," he beamed.
"What's up?" Carrie asked, walking over to them.
"Keith's gonna be a dad!" Kelly cheered.
"You didn't know that?"
"No, he just told me."
"You'd think with Ashley around, you'd be the first to know all the gossip."
"I'm in a gossip free bubble," Kelly shook her head.
Carrie laughed, placing her arm around her, "Don't we need to be going? What time is your meeting?"
"Um, at four."
"Isn't it across town?"
"Yea, we should go," she nodded, turning back to Keith. "It was nice seeing you again. And seriously, congrats."
"Thanks," he smiled. "You too."
Kelly grinned broadly, as Carrie squeezed her gently.
++++++++++++
"You know what?" Carrie smiled.
"What?" Kelly asked, linking their hands together as they sat on her bed, Carrie in her lap, facing her.
"I think I might love you."
"Oh really?"
"Yea, I just might actually love you," Carrie nodded.
"Well that's good," Kelly replied.
"And why's that?"
"Cause I just might actually love you too," she grinned as Carrie kissed her softly.
"Well, then this just works out perfectly, doesn't it?"
"Yea," Kelly nodded, loving it when Carrie relaxed enough to show her silly side. "So, you're ready for the tour to start up? Y'all seemed great in rehearsals the other day."
"Yea, I can't wait to get out there."
"Did you talk to your musical director?"
"Um, yea, it was just a misunderstanding."
"Well that's good," Kelly smiled, although she didn't quite believe the bass player's excuse.
"So, what's the plan?"
"The plane leaves this afternoon at five for Kansas. You spend the night there with me because as we've just determined, I love you and want to spend the least amount of time away from you as possible..."
Carrie smiled broadly.
"And then, I want to say your plane leaves for Connecticut Thursday at like three, maybe, but we'll have to check again to see."
"That's a lot of planes in a little amount of time."
"I know," Kelly smiled sympathetically, rubbing her hands up and down Carrie's arms. "I'm sorry hun. I wish I could go with you on the second flight, and if I had time, I would, but there's no way I could fly there and back before the show starts. I already checked."
Carrie shook her head in awe, "I love you."
"So I've heard," she shrugged, giggling at the feeling of the country singer's lips pressing against her neck.
"You're gonna miss me?"
"Absolutely."
"You know...we have the house to ourselves this morning, and we don't have to start getting ready to leave for several hours..."
"Hmm," Kelly said thoughtfully. "Whatever shall we do?"
Carrie's eyes lit up as she laid back, pulling the Texan with her before flipping them over.
Kelly laughed as Carrie pinned her down.
"Have I told you lately how beautiful you are?" Carrie asked, moving a curl out of the shorter girl's eyes. "And how much I love the sound of your laugh?"
Kelly gazed back up at her adoringly, and Carrie could feel the butterflies in her stomach, "Have I told you lately how much you take my breath away?"
"I love you," Carrie replied.
"Remember that when you're fussing later about the scratch marks on your back," Kelly grinned.
"Ooo," Carrie raised an eyebrow.
"Yea, now come here," Kelly pulled her down, their lips crashing together.
++++++++++
"So..." Carrie chewed on her bottom lip as they sat in the proper terminal, waiting to board the flight. Her knee was bouncing nervously.
"So?" Kelly asked, looking up from where she was checking her email on her lap top.
"I changed my mind."
"About what?"
"I don't love you."
Kelly raised a disbelieving eyebrow, "Really?"
"Yea, so that does that mean I don't have to fly with you to Kansas?"
Kelly fought back the laugh as she turned slightly in her seat to face her, "Sweetie, you don't have to come with me to Kansas if you don't want to."
"No, I want to, I really, really want to. I just don't want to fly."
"Well, whether you come to Kansas or not, you're still going to have to fly to Connecticut."
Carrie frowned, "I don't want to."
"Carrie, we've flown together quite a few times now. It's going to be ok."
"Why don't we just drive to Kansas?"
"If that'll make you feel better, I'm sure I can get you a driver."
"Both of us."
"Both of us?"
"I'm not scared of flying," Carrie reminded.
"You're scared of crashing," Kelly nodded.
"But I'm not just scared of me crashing..."
Kelly struggled not to 'aw', "You're scared of me crashing?"
"Please," Carrie's begged, taking her hands in her own. "I don't want to lose you."
"Care, you're not going to lose me, nothing bad's going to happen," Kelly giggled softly.
"Please...just this once."
"How are you going to get to Connecticut?" Kelly questioned.
"I'll fly. At least I'll know that you're safe on the ground."
Kelly took out her phone, looking at the time. It was nearly five. By the time they got back to her place, then found a driver, it would put them on the road at around seven, that would put them in Kansas City at around three in the morning, and she had a show that night.
She studied Carrie carefully, "You really don't want to do this, do you?"
Carrie shook her head.
"Alright," Kelly nodded with a soft smile, reaching up to touch her cheek affectionately. She slid her laptop back in its case. "Let's go."
Carrie let out a relieved sigh as the two of them stood.
"Where are you going?" Jason asked, standing as well from the seat across from them.
"We're going back to the house. We're gonna drive," Kelly explained.
"Drive?"
"Yea, Carrie really doesn't want to fly. I'm not gonna make her."
"Kelly, you have a show tomorrow."
"We'll get a driver."
"It's over eight hours away."
"I'll pay him double," Kelly shrugged, watching as Carrie gathered her things.
"Kelly," Jason took her arm, halting her. "This is crazy."
"Jay, come on. Carrie seriously never asks for anything, you know that, but she really doesn't want to fly right now. She's scared. I know it's silly, but just let me do this for her."
"Fine," Jason sighed, knowing there was no point of fighting her, she would just do whatever she wanted anyway.
"Thanks," she smiled. "I promise, I'll call to keep you informed the whole drive up there."
++++++++++
"Yea, sure I'll hold," Kelly nodded as she walked her living room floor, her phone to her ear. Carrie walked to her, and Kelly wrapped her arms around her.
"You know I was lying earlier, right?"
"About what?" she asked, curiously.
"Me not loving you."
"I know," Kelly smiled. "But even for joking purposes, how about you don't say that again, deal?"
"Deal," Carrie nodded, leaning forward to kiss her firmly.
"Hello?" Kelly heard the voice in her hear.
"Mm...hello, uh, hey," she laughed nervously, pulling back from the kiss.
"Miss Clarkson, I'm sorry, but we don't have a driver available," the receptionist informed her.
"Seriously?" her smile fell.
"Yes ma'am. I mean, I can call my manager and see if--"
"No, no, it's fine," Kelly assured her. "It's my fault. I should've known there wouldn't be anything available on this short of notice, especially for a trip this far. Don't worry about it."
"Are you sure? Because maybe--"
"I'm sure. Seriously, don't worry about it. It's no big deal. I'll be in touch next time I need a driver."
"Ok, you have a good evening Miss Clarkson."
"You too," Kelly frowned, ending the call.
"What's wrong?" Carrie asked.
"No driver."
"Shoot, Kell, I'm so sorry. This whole thing was a dumb idea. I shouldn't have ever asked."
"It wasn't dumb at all," Kelly smiled, pulling her closer. "I told you we'd drive, so we're gonna drive. We'll just take my car. It's no problem."
"I'll drive, if you want."
"No, it's alright. I'll drive. Why don't you go take a quick hot shower, and I'll load all our stuff in the car. That way you can just sleep the way up there."
"Shouldn't you be the one sleeping? You have a show tomorrow night."
"I'm good."
"We'll do half and half."
"Care, just let me drive, ok? Let me take care of you this one time, please?"
"Jason's not gonna be happy," Carrie sighed.
"He's never happy unless there's some hot girl around," Kelly grinned, knowing she had won.
"Alright, I'll be quick," Carrie nodded, giving her a quick kiss before making her way to the bathroom.
++++++++
"You're joking," Carrie's mouth dropped as she walked into the garage, noticing what car Kelly was loading their luggage into.
Kelly gave a small smile, "It was supposed to be a surprise for when we got back."
"You brought the chevelle to Tennessee?"
"His name is Charlie," Kelly reminded, opening the driver side door and getting in.
"Ok, I was so wrong before. I didn't think that car could get any hotter, but seeing you in that car...yea..."
Kelly laughed, "Get in."
Carrie let out a slight squeal of excitement as she hurried around the front of the red muscle car, climbing into the passenger side, "This is so cool."
Kelly beamed proudly.
"So..." Carrie placed a hand on Kelly's upper thigh as she pulled the car out onto the road. "This is on the list right?"
"Not when I'm driving at night," she giggled, batting her hand away.
"So, during the day is fair game?" Carrie cocked an eyebrow.

Kelly rubbed her eyes as she glanced at the clock on the dashboard which read one o'clock. She glanced at the gps on her phone to make sure she was still going in the right direction. Carrie was laying down, her lower body in her own seat, her head in Kelly's lap as she slept soundly.
Kelly knew Tim, Reba, and Jason would all fuss about her lack of sleep, but the adorable look on the country singer's face as she slept peacefully was totally worth it.
+++++++++++
"Come on sleeping beauty," Kelly ran her fingers through Carrie's hair after she had parked beside the buses. "Time to wake up."
Carrie grumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"Come on, babe, we're here. Let's get you inside in a real bed."
Carrie nodded, pushing herself up into a sitting position.
"Don't worry about our stuff, we'll get it later," Kelly instructed as they got out of the car. She led the taller girl up the stairs of the bus, closing the door behind them before making their way to the back room.
Carrie immediately crawled on top of the bed.
Kelly smiled, taking off her own shoes before helping Carrie with hers. She climbed on the bed next to her, pulling the covers up around them.
Carrie turned onto her back, pulling Kelly close to her side, mumbling an "I love you."
"I love you too," Kelly laughed softly, kissing her cheek before snuggling into her.
++++++++++
Kelly woke up, stretching to the smell of something absolutely delicious.
Carrie smiled as she walked into the back room, struggling to close the door behind her as she balanced a tray.
"What time is it?" Kelly asked, yawning.
"Nearly eleven," Carrie replied, handing her the tray as she joined her on the bed.
"And what is this?" she questioned, gazing down at the eggs, biscuits, and bacon that filled the plate on the tray, along with a couple glasses of orange juice and coffee.
"A delicious vegetarian breakfast," Carrie answered. "I figured I owed you after last night."
"Aw, you didn't have to do this," Kelly turned, kissing her.
"Yea, I did."
"Um, Care, bacon?"
"It's not really bacon, but trust me, it tastes just as good, and is probably just as unhealthy for you," she grinned.
Kelly laughed, kissing her once more before handing her one of the forks on the tray.
+++++++++++
"So what do you think?" Keith Urban asked, sitting beside Kelly as Carrie talked to her tour manager after the rehearsals had ended.
"I really think it's going to be a great show. Your live show is amazing. I told you that after I saw your last show," Kelly replied.
