Slow Poison
Eight
After Masa had gone, Gackt took to the kitchen. He was sitting at his freshly scrubbed breakfast table with pen poised to paper. He is supposed to be writing a food list for since he had told You that he would be going food shopping with him tomorrow. You should be there in about five minutes Gackt wagered to himself.
Gackt looked up from his grocery list, a smile planted on his lips at the sound of You’s footsteps. Despite the fact that Gackt never really cooked anything You always knew he would find him there unless Gackt was working he’d find in his music room.
“Tea?” Gackt offered as You took a seat opposite him.
You nodded and watched as Gackt rose to get the kettle off the stove. He poured a healthy amount in You’s cup leaving enough room to add honey, he then sat the warm metal onto a potwarmer.
Gackt sat, his eyes watching You almost expectantly.
Ignoring his friend’s stare, You raised his cup to his lips pausing just about the rim. It was then that he spoke.
“We decided to go our separate ways.”
While Gackt absorbed that tidbit of information You swallowed down half of warm liquid. He then angrily slammed down his cup as he said, “He told me that I could still call him and all that stuff.”
“So he wants to date Toshi then?” Gackt inquired, his insides dancing at the news.
You shook his head no.
“He said that talking to Toshi made him change his mind about dating inside of the band.”
“That is odd.”
Gackt’s brows knitted as he thought.
/Should I tell You about Masa and I then?/
He waited to hear what You had to say next.
You sighed deeply.
“I think that he’s right to a degree. Besides, you would never do it, so why should we?”
Guilt overcame the vocalist in sickening waves.
“Gaku-chan?” You called out, his hand reaching out for Gackt’s arm.
Gackt snatched his arm away.
“It’s nothing.”
You didn’t believe his words. He got to his feet coming to Gackt’s side.
Gackt leaned his head back in his chair wishing that he could feel You who was behind him now.
“What is it? Tell me what’s wrong.” You begged as he placed his hands on Gackt’s shoulders.
Gackt swallowed hard. How could he tell You about last night?
“Masa…he…we…something happened between us.”
He finally managed to get out.
“I figured that.” You breathed into his friend’s ear.
“We didn’t have sex.” Gackt told him firmly. “We only kissed and slept in the same bed.”
“When?” You wondered out loud.
“Last night.” Gackt began to explain. “He was still here went I home.”
/Where was he hiding?/ You wondered silently.
“He claims that he loves me.”
‘’Oh Gackt.” You sighed. “Well do you love him back?”
Gackt weighed the question out in his mind. Did he love Masa?
“I like him okay, but I don’t know about love. Last night…” His voice falter and he tried to find the right words to describe last night.
“Was nice.”
He said finally.
You tried not to laugh. He knew what that meant.
“He didn’t do that much for you huh, Gaku-chan.”
You wasn’t surprised at all that Gackt would be so picky.
“He did actually.” Gackt admitted. “A bit too much.” He bit down on his bottom lip as he muttered these final words, “He reminds me of Mana.”
“Mana?” You repeated making a face like he had tasted something sour. How could their adorable guitarist remind him anything of that cold bitch Mana?
Gackt nodded, “Yes, Mana. And it scares me.”
