A typical Rancid Concert
Chapter 9
-7:30 in the morning to go to a rancid concert in Chicago, Illinois-
*Joel
” Ok, we got Nicole, lets go get Carson now!” I said to Seth, who is driving the car. It can hold 8 people. Seth, and Nicole are up front. In the second seat, Paul is sitting on Aaron, and Paula is sitting on Neil, and Ruth has a seat all to her self. In the third seat, Mandy has a seat by herself, Billy is sitting on Benji, and I am sitting by myself. We pull up to her house, and Ruth goes and gets her. When they come back, Carson puts her stuff in the back, Ruth lets Carson jump in the back seat, and Carson sits on my lap, and then Ruth gets in. We head for Chicago.
-10 hours later-
we get in Chicago, and we are driving, until we get to a hotel. Seth gets out, and books 5 rooms. That is all they had left.
” Do any of them have two beds?’ Ruth asks Seth.
” Uh…no… They only had what was left.” We get out, get our stuff, and go to our rooms. Paul and Aaron are sharing a room, Benji and Billy are sharing a room, Mandy and Ruth, and Nicole are sharing a room, Neil, Paula, and Seth are sharing a room, and Carson, and me are sharing a room. It is 6:30 when we get all our stuff back, and we meet downstairs, and go to McDonalds to get something to eat. Rancid doesn’t play until a week, so we have enough time to be here, and look at everything. I am very happy we all got to miss school for Rancid. I am. After a couple days of looking around, we found a pawnshop. I wanted to get something for Carson, so when she went to the bathroom, which was across the street, I got her a really cool ring. It was black all around it, with little sparkles everywhere. The ring was really cool. It was 5 dollars, so I got it. At night when we were sharing the bed, it must have been 2:00 in the morning, but we were both awake. I got the ring out of my pocket and said,
” Carson, I really want you to have this ring, I know I’m not the best or anything, but I want you to have it. I love you, and you are the greatest person I have meat. I am really glad you came here, and I am really glad we are going out. I love you a lot, and I just want you to take it. I just wanted to get you something, not a wedding ring, but something that you would love. When I seen this, it reminded me of your beautiful face and eye shadow that you had on, when we went on our first date.” I say. I look at her and she had tears in her eyes.
” Did you say you love me?” she asks. I nodded my head ‘yes’ and said “ I love you.” She gave me a kiss, and said “ I have never known anyone that I did love that wasn’t my family, and I barely love them, I love you also, but are you sure?” she asked me, like I was going to change my mind.
” Yes, I am sure, I love you so much, please, will you put this on?” I ask, and she nodes her head ‘yes’ and I put it on her ring finger. She puts her head on my chest and we fall asleep.

Joel and I have been going out for about a month. I do love him, I know I do, but I am afraid because of my past. I am happy that he gave me a ring. It reminds me of my sparkles and eye shadow too. He really knows what I like. It makes me feel good, that someone actually loves me. That night, I couldn’t go to sleep. I herd Joel fall asleep fast, but I just couldn’t fall asleep no matter how much I tried. I was just thinking. Thinking about Joel, and thinking about us.
*Benji
Oh, yah, today is the day we get to see RANCID! Oh yah… Rancid. It thrills me, although it doesn’t start until 7:00 PM, I am still glad. I woke up at 6:30, and woke Billy up. Then I went outside, and banged on the doors to my friend’s room to get everyone up. When everyone came outside, they looked pissed.
” GET UP! TODAY IS THE RANCID CONCERT! WHY WONT YOU GET UP!” I scream, I hear someone down the hall, saying
”SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU PUNKS!” and that made me laugh really hard.
”Benji, it starts at 7:00 at night, we will come downstairs soon, just let us get ready for the concert.” Said Joel, and Joel, and Carson went back into the room and slammed the door. Then everyone else just went back inside his or her rooms, and I just went back inside too. I took a shower, got changed, and went downstairs, were Seth and Neil were sitting.

When Carson slammed the door to our room, I got in the shower, and changed into a rancid shirt, and baggy jeans. Carson got in the shower, and then got changed into a rancid shirt also, baggy jeans, dried her hair, but black lipstick on, black eye shadow on, and sparkles all over her face, including sparkly kiddy berets, then put on some spiked bracelets, and we headed downstairs, were everyone else, but Nicole, was there.
” Hey, Carson, I really like your ring, were did you get it? It matches everything you have on!” said Paula.
” Oh, Joel got it for me, I don’t know were he got it.” Said Carson, and I could see her blushing a little.
”Were did you get the ring Joel?” asked Paula.
” A store, were else do you get jewelry?” I asked sarcastically, and Paula just rolled her eyes. We sat down, and we ate, and finally, Nicole came down. Now it was about 11:00, I am guessing she went to sleep for a while, and then got ready.
” So, what are we going to do before the Rancid Concert?” asked Carson.
” Hum… I don’t know, maybe we should… hum….” Said Benji.
” HOT TOPIC!” screamed Paula.
” Ok, I haven’t been to Hot Topic for a long while.” Said Carson. After Nicole ate, we went to the car, and got in, same seats, and then went to a mall, which we found finally, after about an hour of driving, and then we went in to a Hot Topic. Carson got a ring, and a CD, and I got a spike bracelet. Paula got two pairs of shoes, and everyone else, got…like a shirt, or something. When we got out of Hot Topic it was 4, man, spending 3 and ½ hours in Hot Topic is a long time. We were hungry again, so we got some stuff to eat in the food court. When we finally got out of the mall, and into the car, it was 6:00. We just decided to go back to the hotel to get our tickets, and then go to the concert.
When we got to the concert, people were getting in, but it hasn’t started yet. We gave the guy our tickets, and he let us in. After about a half of an hour of waiting, Rancid finally started to play. There first song was Maxwell Murder. We were dancing, and mashing, man it was fun. Then they played Root Radical, Time Bomb, I want to Riot, and on Out Of Control, something really did get out of control. We heard a scream, we couldn’t tell who it was, but then we heard who I think it was Benji scream
” BILLY! BILLY!” and Carson and I tried to find Benji, when we did, Seth, Nicole, Paula, Neil, and Benji was by Billy’s body, and Billy was soaked in blood. Benji, Carson, and I told them to stay here, and find everyone else, and we loaded Billy in the car, and I drove to the hospital.
When we got there, we took Billy to the emergency side, Benji had Billy in his arms, and they finally got Billy on a bed, and were rolled away. Benji, Carson, and I were just in the waiting room crying. I heard Carson’s phone ring,
” Hello?” said Carson, but you could barely hear her.
” I don’t know,” she said to the phone.
” Ok, I will be there soon.” She said, and hung up the phone.
” Joel, can I have the keys? We need to pick the rest up.” Said Carson.
” Ok, sure.” I say, and hand her the keys. Then Carson left to pick up our friends.
-30 minutes later-

Carson, Paul, Aaron, Seth, Neil, Mandy, Paula, Ruth, and Nicole come in flying threw the door, and come rush by Benji, and Carson comes and hugs me and gives me a kiss.
