The One I Love
...everything leaves me behind
Bam looked down at Ville and smiled. He had finally gone to sleep. Bam gently ran his fingers through the Finnish man's soft hair.
God...how can one person be so perfect? he wondered to himself. It just seems impossible but here he is. Lying in my lap. The essence of perfection.
Sighing a bit, Bam leaned his head back against the headboard. There is no way that this is even real. It just......can't be. I mean....God, I don't even know what I mean any more. I don't understand myself and I can't see that this could be a good thing. ......Oh, well....
The next morning, Bam was, surprisingly enough, the first to wake. It was surprising only because he was the one that had stayed up into all hours of the night to just watch his friend. Nevertheless, that was how it wound up. And here we are again... He thought as a small smile played across his lips. Sure, he was awake, but that didn't mean he had to have moved, right? So, he hadn't. And he was lying there in the bed, watching Ville, just like he had last night.
Last night, though, he hadn't been interrupted by anything. This morning held different plans as Bam realized that he was actually in quite desperate need for food. To fix this, he got up and went into the kitchen-area of the apartment. He threw open the doors to the cabinets and found a rectangular container of pepper. Deciding against an entire meal of pepper, he turned to the refrigerator and found nothing but a carton of seriously spoiled milk. "Damn! Does he ever buy food?" Bam muttered to himself, walking back into the bedroom.
Bam stood in the doorway for a moment with his head tilted slightly to the side, staring at Ville. He was trying to decide the best way to wake the Finnish rocker. He finally decided yelling would do. "Ville Valo! I swear to God!" Maybe yelling alone wouldn't do; he ran over and got on the bed, where he promptly started jumping. "Dude, do you ever eat?"
Ville was slowly coming to. The yelling, he could have ignored. The jumping was just impossible to overlook. He blinked a few times to get his eyes adjusted and looked up at Bam, frowning. "What?" He had kind of heard the question, but wasn't sure if he'd heard it right.
"Eating. You know, food. Do you ever eat it?"
Ville arched an eyebrow, "Yes....."
"How the hell do you eat food you don't have?"
"What?"
Bam laughed a bit and fell to his knees on the mattress. "You have no food in this house. Unless you think spoiled milk and pepper would make a good meal. If that's what you like, go ahead and have a feast, but I'm not touching it!"
Ville shook his head and laughed at his eccentric friend. "I guess a bit of grocery shopping would be in order, wouldn't it?"
"Looks like it." Bam nodded.
They walked for a few blocks in silence before Bam spoke up.
"Ummm..."
"What?" Ville asked.
"What are we going to buy anyway?"
"I don't know. Whatever's on sale." Ville pulled out his wallet and rummaged through it's contents. After buying drugs the other night, it was pretty empty.
Bam leaned over and Ville promptly shut his wallet and stuffed it into his back pocket. He smiled weakly.
Bam just shook his head. He followed Ville into a corner store.
The two were going down a random isle, just to see if there was anything interesting to grab when Bam saw someone he thought looked vaguely familiar. He stared at the woman for a few moments, trying to place where he'd seen her before. Then realization struck him. It was Linde's wife. "Oh, hey, Ville, look. It's Alessandra. Come on, let's go say hi."
"Well, no, I..." Ville decided it would be best not to object and get questions thrown all over him. "Well...mm...all right... " He agreed reluctantly, following Bam over to the woman.
Alessandra turned around, looking for something, but finds Bam in front of her instead. She smiled, but then she saw Ville standing half-behind, half-beside him. Her look turned to a sort of "Oh. You." type look. She decided to ignore him and talk to Bam. "Hi, Bam." She smiled again.
"Hey, Alessandra. How have you been? Long time, you know."
"It really has been a long time, hasn't it? I've been good....actually, everyone's been good." She nodded a little.
The mini-catch-up conversation continued for a few minutes until Bam noticed something. She wasn't really talking to Ville. "Not...that you could miss him even though he's behind me, considering he's taller than me, but...you know Ville's here, too, right?"
Alessandra turned colder than Bam had ever known her to be. "Well, I don't need to talk to him. He doesn't deserve my attention. Yours either, really..."
"Wha--"
Ville glared at Alessandra, "Shut it!"
"What? Afraid your secret's gonna slip like before?" She asked in a near-taunting tone.
"I'm serious!" Ville said, "Shut up!" He gave her a pleading look.
"What the hell? Secret?" Bam wasn't quite sure exactly what the hell was going on at the moment. He was looking between Ville and Alessandra. "What secret?" Getting nothing but silence at the moment, for the time being, Bam decided, "Ok....I'll just stay confused." He nodded a little.
"Don't look at me like that." Alessandra said to Ville, "I'm not on your side any more."
Ville hated that he'd met her so late. If she knew what he'd been like before......No. That still wouldn't change things. He knew it wouldn't; the band had known him before, and they still turned on him. He sighed and muttered, "At least I've still got someone...."
"Tell him why we're not taking to you. See who's on your side then." With those as her last words, Alessandra turned and walked away from the two.
After a few moments of silence, Bam looked at Ville. "Umm....What was that all about?"
No. I'm not telling you. I've gotta find a way around it.... Ville looked at the skater, "....I don't want to talk about it." Oh, yes, that excuse always works.
"....Oh...Ok...." Bam frowned. As far as he was concerned, the whole scene just then with Alessandra was completely insane.
