Chapter Eight

Alex woke up with the sun shining on her brightly as she got up to brush her teeth. She brushed them as quickly as possible and then ran back to bed, attempting to sleep a little longer when there was a soft knock at the door. "Come on in. You're next on the Price is Right!"

"Is it open? Oh. Did you not lock the door when I left last night?," John asked, walking in.

She smiled, stretching with her arms above her head, "Guess not... Morning to you too." John laughed, sitting on the edge of the bed and rubbing where he could see the form of her thigh under the white sheets.

"How's that leg feeling?"

Oh, much better," she said, pulling him down onto the bed and curling up next to him, "Kurt called earlier to say that he was leaving. He didn't even stop by...."

"And again," he said, slightly annoyed, "I have to ask you why the hell are you wasting time with Kurt, Alex? This is constantly Kurt."

Alex knew he was right, but he reaction was the same one she always gave him, "He's not always like this." She already knew what he'd respond, that he was more often than not, so before he could she spoke up again, sitting up and bringing a pillow down on his face, "Amy is happy you're coming I'll let you know. You've made a four year old quite happy."

John pushed the pillow off his face with a smile, pulling her back down on him, "I aim to please you know." He raised an eyebrow, making her blush instantly. She suddenly remembered the night before, causing confusion to sweep across her face. She faked a smile, playing with his hair to distract herself from her thoughts. As forward John could be, he hadn't tried anything yet and for that she was thankful, knowing it would only confuse her more. Alex couldn't shake how comfortable he made her, how perfectly she seemed to fit into him. He knew when to smile, when to tease, he knew not to push her. John, for his part, was just glad to be close. He knew what was going on without having been told, since the night of Amy's birthday. Dave's eyes on Alex gave him the answers. He did sense her hesitation and so he decided to slowly inch his way in instead, letting her make the decisions on her own for now. "We actually should be booking a flight boss."

"Wanna do that while I get dressed and speed pack? I don't want to eat here."

"Where do you?"

"Oh... I don't know, at the airport? They have an IHOP."

Her answer made him laugh, "Seriously? IHOP? Didn't know you were such a fan."

She smiled, playing with her necklace, the one given to her when she turned 18. "Dad used to take Stephanie, Shane and I when we were younger. He wouldn't tell Mom, we'd just go. I dunno... I like it. Please? Pretty please?"

"Hey, no need to tell me twice. I like the place, I just didn't know that's what you wanted to eat." He watched her jump up off the bed, pulling jeans, a white t-shirt and a navy blue, tight cardigan out of her bag and run into the bathroom to change.

She called out, "Good! Call the airport will you?"

When Dave woke up he cursed his dreams that taunted him. He regretted leaving her room, but he let his anger made him. He couldn't deal with John spending a week alone with her, the idea drove him mad. Kurt was never this big a worry to him, especially after Dwayne had confirmed what he already knew, that she wasn't fully allowing Kurt in. Dwayne had however shone light on John and Alex's closeness and he discovered that he didn't just have Dwayne to worry about but now John, making things much more difficult.

His dreams had caused all the blood to flow to his member, which wouldn't go down no matter how many un-Alex things he tried to think of. He got up, hoping a cold shower would help but even that didn't calm him. He closed his eyes, seeing her body under him, seeing her wild eyes, the ones that swallowed him whole. Her lips, which were softer than any cushion and tasted like sugar. Next thing he knew he was pumping his cock wildly, bracing himself with his free hand on the wall. He pictured her full chest, the way it would rise and fall as she breathed, the little bit of skin he could see as she had laid beneath him. He remembered feeling them press against his chest as he hands lifted his shirt. But as he began to relive the feeling of her bare skin against him he released, saying her name in a low grunt. It was becoming torture. As he washed off he tried not to think, but it was almost impossible.

He'd dressed quickly, snatching up his bags as his bad mood continued. As he exited the elevators to check out, Dave stopped on a staircase that led from the elevators to the front desk. He could see them, far off. Alex seemed to be checking out as John stood far off as he held their bags, talking to Randy. Randy kept pushing him, looking at Alex with wide eyes as John just smiled in a way that told him to shut up. Alex turned away from the desk as she, John and Randy moved aside for the next person. She was touching John's back, talking with Randy rapidly. He could see John say something, obviously making her blush wildly as she covered her face and then bit his arm, causing him to almost drop her bag. He laughed, grabbing her hand. After saying goodbye to Randy, the two were out the front door, getting into the car she had rented. Dave couldn't take it, feeling his insides burn. Without thinking twice he headed upstairs to talk to Paul. There was something he needed to tell Alex, and it wouldn't do any good to do so on the phone.

~~~~
Alex felt her phone ring as she and John waited to board the plane. It'd been tough, having been stopped by fans for pictures and autographs, trying to get through security. She was tired again, ready to sleep on the flight. As John handed the stewardess their tickets, Alex looked at the name on the caller ID. She didn't want to answer, but she did anyways, not remembering John's lack of knowledge about the situation. "Dwayne I'm about to get on a flight to Amy, can I call later? I promise I will." Her eyes caught John looking at her with a confused look but she pushed him forward, as he was stopping the flow of people.
"I just... you look great last night Alex."
"Oh. You watched?"
"Yeah. Really. Can't believe Vince didn't make you do it earlier. Well... call me later. Do you... mind if I talk to Amy then too?" These were the moments that she hated to talk to him, the moments where the old Dwayne resurfaced with his voice that washed over her.
To save the trouble a fight would have been, and being in a good mood, she smiled as she sat down next to the window, John following and sitting down beside her, "Sure. Later."
"Be safe," he answered, hanging up. She sighed, looking around as John put her laptop bag under her seat. They were in first class, so there weren't too many people around. A row back was a family, two teenage boys and their parents, and across from them, a business woman, pulling out papers and files. In front of them, two more business men, discussing a meeting they had just attended. Finally, she turned her attention back to John, who was studying her quietly.
"Well," she began, knowing what he was going to ask, "ask away. I know you want to."
"Why did Dwayne call?"
"He's Amy's dad." She felt good being honest about it, realizing yet again that she had yet to tell Kurt but it came quite easily to tell John. She was surprised by the lack of shock in his face, rather a quiet understanding of things. She decided to answer everything she knew was sure to be asked, "He and I started seeing each other after I turned 18 and he was separated from his wife. The day I found out I was pregnant he let me know he was going to try and make things work with her because she was pregnant. I never got around to telling him I was also. Well anyways I figured, foolishly I might add, that he may never find out until Dad went all 'Happy Grandpa' and told everyone. He knew. He actually came to see me one night in the hospital." She stopped for a second, taking a breath as she realized that she'd never admitted to anyone she knew he'd visited her that one night long ago. "He thought I was sleeping. He knew Amy was his, not like I was sleeping with anyone else. So yeah, recently we both... I dunno he's been trying to spend time with her and stuff. It's...."
"Confusing?," he offered, with a smile.
"Yeah." She sighed, resting her head against the chair. After a moment of silence she looked at him, his eyes hadn't left her yet. "So?"
"Well that explains why he gave me the evil eye all day at Amy's birthday party."
"No he didn't!"
John laughed, pushing up the armrests between them and hugging her softly, as much as he could with their seatbelts on as they prepared to take off, "Yeah he did."
It hit her that John was observing her without her noticing. She remained silent as they flew into the sky. Eventually the seat belt light came off and the stewardess approached them. "Ms. McMahon, Mr. Cena, is there anything I can get you?"
"Pillow and blanket please? I need a nap."
"Sure thing, you sir?"
John shook his head, "Blanket and pillow too. I hog, she won't like it." Both Alex and the woman laughed.
"Well if you need something, my name is Darlene."
As she walked away, towards the woman across from them, John laughed, looking at Alex, "I wonder what her name is if we don't need her."
Alex burst out laughing, burying her face into his arm. Eventually however, the both of them were reclined and covered in blankets with pillows under their heads. Alex rested against him, his arms hugging her softly. She considered how easy it was to tell him things and then, without thinking twice about it, she said, "I almost called you last night."
He smiled, the news pleasing to know, "Why didn't you?"
"You'll get me into more trouble than Dave does. I'm sure you've noticed."
"Yeah, he's bad at hiding how he feels."
"I'm still seeing Kurt," she said, as if trying to remind herself.
"We know how I feel about that. Take a nap Alex, we have a week to talk about all this."
They slept, in and out of consciousness as the plane flew high above the earth. The blankets were almost too hot, due to the fact that both were well aware that they were closer to each other in those moment than ever before then. Alex was a little uncomfortable however, feeling as though someone was watching her closely. Eventually, about 45 minutes before the flight was to land, the two of them were wide awake, going over stories of John OVW days when the stewardess approached them, "Hello you two, everything okay so far?"
"Oh yes," Alex said with a smile, "Thank you so much."
"I was hoping," Darlene said, not wasting time, "that maybe you two could meet the two young men here in first class? They say they are fans and I am sure it would make their day. I can send them over? Just an autograph and a picture. If not please don't hesitate to let me know...."
"No way, send them over. You don't mind right Alex?"
"Hell no. We'd be happy to."
A few minutes later the two boys approached, looking quite excited. The eldest was atleast 16, his brother around 14. The eldest spoke first, the stewardess standing behind them, "Oh man, you are so hot in person Alex." She couldn't help but blush, not used to any fans saying something like that to her. She'd heard fans say that to other Divas, even to Stephanie, but it was new to her.
"Thanks. What are your names?"
"I'm George, this is my brother Tom."
"Well it's nice to meet you."
"John," the youngest, Tom, said nervously, "you're awesome. You're my favorite wrestler."
Alex smiled as now John seemed bashful, "Thanks man, I appreciate that." The two boys had handed over pieces of notebook paper which John and Alex both signed for each of them.
As they signed George spoke up again, in a question neither expected, "Are you two dating in real life?" Alex and John instantly laughed nervously, never having put much thought into what a fan would think if they saw them out and about the way they were.
John was the first to speak, "She won't date me yet, can you believe her? She's playing hard to get but eventually I'll make her date me."
Alex gave out a small "Pfft." She smiled, looking up at the boys, "Don't listen to him. I won't date him until he wins a belt, maybe then I'll give him a chance. Plus, I have my hands full with Batista."
"I like John more. You should manage him," said Tom.
"Ah, the kid has a point. You should Alex."
"Maybe later."
Finally, after a picture, taken by Darlene, the boys sat down again, pleased with everything. Soon they were home, taking a taxi to Alex's. They dropped off their bags, relaxing for a little while. As John went upstairs to use the rest room, Alex dialed her parent's home.
"Hello?"
"Hey Mom. We're here."
"Good. Glad you two made it back okay. Are you home?"
"Yeah, we're coming to... wait you know who is with me? I didn't tell Dad John was with me."
"Oh darling, you'll see when you get here." Alex didn't like the tone in Linda's voice, even if Linda did seem quite happy and amused, and as John walked back into the living room she made a face at him, to warn him.
"Okay... see you in about 10 minutes." She hung up, with a large sigh, "Mom is acting funny. She knew you were here though. I mean... I know Stephanie and Paul are here already but I didn't assume they would tell Dad and Mom."
"Well we've been back an hour, they've all had time to talk. Let's go get Amy huh?"
~~~~

The look on Amy's face as she ran down the long driveway at Vince and Linda's made Alex feel right at home. "Mommy I missed you!"

"Oh hell kiddo, I missed you too!" She knelt down to Amy's level, wrapping her arms around her and bringing her close as she fell onto the cement.

"Hello you two, glad to see you made it here okay," Linda called out, a smile on her face.

"Hey there Mrs. McMahon," John called out, looking up from watching Alex roll around on the cement with Amy, showering her four year old with kisses.

"John please, call me Linda."

"Yeah you wierdo," Alex said, looking up at him as Amy sat on her stomach, telling her about her puppy, "I've told you to start calling my mom Linda."

John laughed, "Sorry, didn't realize you were going to chew me out about it."

Amy looked angry, pushing down on Alex's chest, "Mom! You're not listening. John, make Mommy listen!"

"Mommy listen to the kid will you?"

Alex smiled, sitting up, cradling Amy in her arms as she stood up, heading inside with John behind her, "I was too. Goofy peed on Grandpa's carpet and when he got home he said I was a brat. Grandpa sure is a funny guy." She smiled as she entered Vince's office, her father raising an eyebrow with a smile.

"That I am. How was the trip?"

She handed John Amy, who was trying her best to reach him so she could give him a hug, "Not bad. We caught a later flight, I wasn't too in a rush. Well... we didn't plan on flying together so we had to get a flight last minute anyways. Did Paul and Stephanie stop by and go home? Where are they?"

"Outside near the pool. Hey John, good to see you."

"Same sir."

"So you going to help this one take some bumps? She'll need all the help she needs, she's clumsy."

John nodded as Alex made an angered face, sitting down on a chair as he placed Amy on the floor who ran to Alex's side. She began to attempt to tame her wild curls, "Such a lie. A dancer is never clumsy. Right Amy? How are your dance lessons going?"

"Good!"

"So you two got plenty of sleep on the plane?," Vince asked, smiling as he looked at his computer screen. Both John and Alex looked up from Amy.

"Um... yeah?," was Alex's slow answer.

Vince laughed, turning his screen so that the two of them were faced with a picture of them, sleeping on the flight. "Fan on the flight too?"

Both John and Alex laughed, walking to the desk and taking a closer look at the picture. "Who sent this to you?," asked Alex through laughs.

"Jennifer," he said, naming one of the people the in the company who constantly searched the fan sites and forums for any leaked news or information, "Thought I'd want to see what was posted on a forum about... says 30 minutes ago."

John laughed nervously, putting his hand on his head, "Sorry?"

"We should have it framed," Shane said from behind them, laughing loudly, "Seriously, kinda cute looking. Alex hasn't looked that cute since she was 3 and passed out at Disney during Spaceship Earth."

"I still do. Anyways, sorry Dad, we were tired."

"What's with the sorries?," he asked, getting up from the computer, leading the way out of the office and into the house, towards the backyard. Stephanie and Paul both sat talking with Marisa and Dave. Alex felt her heart drop. Dave's eyes were like knives and instantly she knew everyone had already seen the photo. She could hear Vince talking, chatting with John, her mother saying that she really did think it was the cutest picture, Amy yelling for Goofy to leave her bike alone. All of it was a haze as she tried to figure out what Dave was thinking. When he sense began to work again, she heard Linda asking John a billion different questions and Amy begging Paul to throw her in the air.

"Alex?," Vince asked, looking up at her. She'd yet to sit down, still standing in her daze.

His voice was what had finally cleared her head. "Yeah?"

"Anything wrong?"

"Oh no. I'll be right back, going to pack Amy's stuff really quickly and the puppy stuff." She left quickly, leaving John to Linda, Stephanie and Marisa.

~~~~
"Alex how do you think Kurt's going to feel about those pictures?," Dave asked, from the doorway of Alex's old bedroom.
She sighed turning to face him quietly, "If you came to keep an eye on me, don't waste your time. I know you saw that picture Dave. Get over it, it's not like we joined the mile high club as well."
"Alex...."
"I'm not rushing," she continued, "to leave Kurt as well that proves my point that nothing is going on with John just like nothing is going on with you. So again, what the hell are you doing here?"
"I... I came to tell you that I love you. I love you and you're driving me insane. I can't stand you sometimes. I only came to say that. I'm going home in the morning."
"Good. Glad you couldn't tell me on the phone."
~~~~

The week had passed brilliantly. John and Amy made breakfast every morning before they took her to her school. Then, Alex and John were in the gym at Titan with Paul and Stephanie. Apparently, John wasn't the only one ready to help Stephanie and Alex, Eddie, Matt, Jeff, and Randy were in town for "business" they called it but when both of them asked Vince what he wanted them in town for he ignored the question entirely. Dave had gone back home to Tampa to spend time with his girls, in an attempt to cool off his anger. Two nights had been spent at Vince and Linda for dinner with her whole family. She missed it, she found out, being with all of them in one spot. John was a welcomed guest, especially by Linda, and he'd fit right in. Alex tried her best to hide how happy it made her to have him around, to see everyone treat him the way she'd begged them to treat Kurt, but there were moments where she'd slip, like the plane trip, and she would shower him with affection.

Amy was loving it, especially when John would sit and watch every show she wanted to see and play every game she wanted to play. Alex had been nervous, knowing that Amy wasn't used to a guy who wasn't family to be constantly around. Kurt barely spent time with her. But Amy loved it. He seemed to be enjoying it too. John never complained or blew Amy off. This made the confusion in her grow. She began to understand that deep down she knew John wanted more from her, but he was waiting for her to make the move, in an attempt to give her the choice. She appreciated it, but she knew she was holding back. She knew she could barely handle what was going on with her and Dave, he and Dwayne, her and Kurt. She didn't want to hurt John, although she wasn't sure if she could hurt him. None the less, being around him gave her a small sense of peace she'd never known, and therefore was incapable of explaining.

Eventually however they were back on the road, and Dave was again Alex's partner. Alex and Dave had come to a silent agreement, largely due to the fact that neither could stop thinking about the last kiss. She had not been alone in a room with him since then, rather letting her feelings show in the arena. Any grab of his hand caused a small chill to creep upon her. There was one instance when he'd held her back, his breathing on her bare shoulders. She'd given him a sideways glance, knowing that had this been a hotel room, they would have been completely naked two seconds later.

Kurt was livid with her as the story progressed. "Alex have you seen the way he looks at you?," he asked after a bit in the arena, talking quietly in gorilla.

"Dave," she called out, "how do you look at me?"

"Like you're naked," he responded with a small wink, knowing that Kurt's temper would be pushed.

"Oh... well I suppose you have a point dear," she said to Kurt, "but I only have eyes for you." The answer, though quick and ready, was not enough to calm him.

And then her ring debut came. Before the match, Vince had hugged Stephanie and Alex. He'd refused to allow them the pleasure of knowing who was winning, asking them to just go with Dave and Paul's cues. After 15 minutes in the ring, the sisters spending most of their times wrestling between themselves, she could feel Paul putting her in position for a pedigree after hitting him with a chair to stop him from performing a pedigree on Dave, her stomach doing flips as she felt herself lifted up. She trusted Paul, in every way possible, but this had to be the only moment every she didn't trust him wholeheartedly. She felt herself hit the matt, her body ached. Paul whispered a small apology as he went down to pin her, but her pain didn't allow her to answer. Suddenly, he was off her as Dave had attacked him and she rolled away from the coming Batista bomb. About three seconds later, the crowd popped and Dave's music hit the speakers. Her insides shook. Dave and Paul had known the outcome of the match before Alex and Stephanie and there it was, the answer blaring in her ears. She could hear Stephanie, quick to act, screaming "No!" with her voice filled with rage. She looked above her head, seeing Paul roll out of the ring to Stephanie, anger filling his face. Dave was standing over her, dropping to his knees, pulling her into his arms.

"Alex?," he whispered.

"I'm fine," she quickly responded, sitting up to everyone's cheers. She stumbled up, listening to Dave be announced the new Heavyweight Champion and her name announced as the new Overseeing Manager of the WWE. Dave lifted up her hand with one hand, the belt in another. Alex looked at Stephanie as smugly as possible but she'd never been as happy as in that moment, feeling the old feeling she'd lost long ago, when she danced, when the spotlight was on her. Then, without warning, she felt Dave pull her into a kiss, the crowd roaring in approval.

~~~~
Apparently Vince had told Dave to do it, which made Alex rest a little easier about it. She could remember only wanting more, Dave had lifted her off her feet as the crowd ate it up. But now, out of the moment, she felt more confusion. Kurt had thrown a tantrum in a locker room, yelling for her to end the story with Dave. She hadn't given in, sending him to the hotel alone. She didn't have time to dwell on it, still working off the happiness of her win and the kiss.
John's reaction had been calmer. He'd picked her up, spinning her in circles, then placed her down with a small kiss on her head, "Now you're just as sweaty as I am beautiful. You were great. I could just eat you up." With those words she'd looked up at his mischievous eyes.
"Amy's flying in tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? Really?"
"I'm fighting with Sable next, Stephanie is going home. Mom needs to be here for an angle between me and Sable."
"Wow. Vince is really pushing you."
"You're telling me."
Her cell began to ring and he kissed her again, "I'll see you tomorrow. Don't get into trouble without me tonight hmm?"
She smiled, going for her cellphone as he left. "Hey Dwayne."
"Are you okay?" She could hear the worry in his voice so she laughed, sitting down.
"Just sore. But really, I'll survive. Proud of me?"
"Oh you have no idea. Would have been prouder if Dave hadn't kissed you though." He really was, never having thought her capable of handling it, he was pleasantly surprised and turned on by her sudden roughness. The kiss had burned his eyes, making him swear under his breath in his living room. As he said this Dave entered the room, making Alex's nerves grow. "Alex I got a call from Vince a couple days ago."
"Hmm?"
"So did Mick."
"Someone...," she started to say but got distracted as Dave pulled her body closer to his. Stephanie had been lucky enough to wear pretty conservative ring attire but apparently the decision had been made that Alex was pretty much wearing the smallest outfit possible. This left very little skin covered, enough to make her quite distracted as Dave's chest pressed against her. "Uh, yeah. It was mentioned. Dwayne I'm so busy right now. I'll call tomorrow. You can talk to Amy then too if you like. I... bye." As soon as the phone was away from her he was prying it from her fingers, letting it drop by her side.
"I came to finish what we started out there."
"Nothing to finish Dave. Dad told you to do that because it's what the fans wanted."
"So did I."
"You're a fan?"
"Of you? Always been."
"Stop. Now. Please." His lips were inching hers until the door swung wide open, Paul walking in, not noticing the situation, and pulling Alex into a hug. "Ew!," she said, feeling his sweat on her cheek.
"I'm sorry."
"Paul we planned it remember? Well sorta planned it. Anyways I knew it was coming. How was my chair swing?"
"Perfect. I'm really sorry."
"I love you too Paul. I just want to go to the hotel already but everyone keeps congratulating me or calling and I keep getting distracted."
"Well get packed and we'll leave, limo waiting. See you tomorrow Dave." He left the room, leaving the two of them alone again.
"Dave I'm sleeping alone tonight."
"Are you kidding me?"
"Not really," she said, slipping on a pair of sweats and a tank top. Her body was shaking as every emotion inside her wanted to spill into the air. She knew it was killing him, but she was trying her best to be responsible in an situation that could make her be the opposite. When she had turned her back to him in silence, she felt his hand touch her lower back softly, his face approaching her neck.
When his lips were not far from her ear he whispered, "Alex I didn't lie to you before. I love you. Stop telling yourself you don't feel the same way."
"I never said I don't... but I won't make you do something that won't just hurt you and me in the end...." He didn't need her to go into details, knowing what she meant by her words. He left, not before pressing his lips to the back of her head and leaving the room.
~~~~

"No! Not the giant!"

"Mwah ha ha! I have come get the cutest little princess on earth! Roar!"

John picked Amy up, slamming her down on the bed in the hotel. Alex followed them into the room, standing in the doorway watching, "John we're supposed to be putting her in bed, not getting her all hyper and keeping her up. Amy say nite nite to John."

"Nite John. Mom do I have to leave tomorrow?"

"Well yeah baby. Today was fun but you have stuff to do back home and I have stuff to do here."

John rubbed Amy's cheek, tucking her in softly, "Hey, how about soon you and Mom come stay with me?"

"John?"

"Well I've stayed with you. Your turn. Tampa is close to Orlando. Disney World--"

That was all Amy needed to hear, she was out of the covers John had carefully tucked her into and was jumping up and down screaming, "Please Mom?!"

Alex gave in as she watched Amy's face turning bright pink, "Only if you go to bed now. If not you are in big trouble and no Disney." Amy didn't have to be told twice and was soon lying back under the covers and after kisses from John and Alex, was passed out. They left the room, closing the door behind them as they sat on the sofa in the small living room and sighed. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

She turned her body to face him, resting her head on her hand. He smiled, resting back on the sofa. His smile gave her the shivers and she quietly, without warning him, crawled on him. He wrapped her in his embrace, smelling her freshly washed waves as the hung around his face. "You know what? I regret not wrestling earlier."

"Oh really? Caught the bug?" He found her new obsession the sexiest thing imaginable.

"It's like when I was dancing. Like the whole world is watching me and I'm just... there. I loved it. I was scared shitless but I was loving it."

"I could tell. You should have seen your face when you hit Paul with that chair. Like you thought it was the best thing since sliced bread." John rubbed her nose softly with his own, making their insides warm up. She was enjoying being so close to him, in the silence of the suite. He wanted to kiss her, badly. It was eating him up inside, trying to give her as much space as she could need. Seeing Dave kiss her the day before hadn't helped, but he'd caught wind of Alex's fight with Kurt, which he was continuing that day as well. The incident made it obvious that the last thing she wanted was another jealous rage thrown at her, although his rage would have been quite silent. He could feel her face bury itself into his neck, her tired sighs growing. He had yet to sleep with her a full night, only having their time on the plane to get him by. He knew they hadn't locked the door, but he didn't say anything, in fear that if one of them rose, the moment would lose it's magic. He quietly, after noticing it's presence, pulled a throw blanket that hung over the edge of sofa onto them, shifting his body a little so that he could assure she wouldn't roll off of him onto the floor in the middle of the night. "You dead yet?"

"Almost... did you want to leave?"

"No. I'm where I want to be. Comfortable?"

She was honest, "Very."

He looked down with the only light in the room coming from the television, her body tangled in his. He tried to picture the moment, in case he ever lost the nerve to attempt it again, and once he'd done so grabbed the remote, turning off the TV. He felt her lips press against his cheek lightly, in the darkness she'd come close to his lips they both became aware. He held back from what his instincts told him to do, instead pulling her in tighter and falling asleep along with her.

It wasn't too long later, and Dave could barely rest. Every time he closed his eyes he saw her, in the ring, smiling down at him after he'd picked her up, taking joy in that small moment. Her lips had welcomed his, as stubborn as they usually were. He'd had an earful from Angela that night about it, but it had been worth every second.

But now that image taunted him. He'd tried his best to talk to her the whole day but was only able to when Amy had found him, and with the little one in the room, he'd avoided the subject. It didn't please him to see John leave with Alex and Amy after the show. Now there he was, alone and unable to rest.

Finally, after tossing and turning he couldn't take it anymore, getting up and pulling on jeans and a shirt for a walk. He'd ended walking around for an hour, going in circles. It was killing him, as he avoided her floor. But suddenly, that's where he'd ended up, in front of her door. He wanted to pull away, but without thinking he tried her door and it opened with ease.

She was wrapped up in the blanket and his arms. John's face was pressed to hers. In their sleep, their hands caressed one another. He knew they were sleeping, the light from the hallway was not affecting them, only John seemed to sense the light as he slept, pulling the blanket over their faces. It was enough for him, shutting the door lightly, although all he wanted to do was cause a scene. Amy being with Alex made that not an option. He damned himself for coming to find her, he cursed John for holding her, he cursed her for not pushing John away.
