Chapter 98

++++++++++

"Said it's crazy

How love stays with me,

You know it hurts me

That I didn't figure it out before,

And now it's too late for a soliloquy,

It's way too late for dignity,

It's time for apologies."

Kelly woke up to the feeling of Carrie tracing soft circles into her upper arm.

"Hey," Carrie smiled, kissing her sweetly. "You were out like a light."

"It was a long day," Kelly smiled back, reaching up for another kiss.

Carrie laughed as she broke the kiss, running a finger along the Texan's jaw line, "You are something else."

Kelly nodded, tugging her back down so she could continue kissing her. She wrapped her arms around the other girl, holding her close.

"I'm sorry," Carrie breathed, pulling back a hair.

"It's ok," Kelly whispered, their lips melting together once again.

"Mm, Kell...Kell," Carrie grinned, holding her down. "I know you don't want to, but we do need to talk."

Kelly sighed.

"You have to know that I did not for one second want to go on a date with him, or anybody else for that matter," Carrie said sincerely.

Kelly bit her bottom lip, staring straight up, just over Carrie's head.

"Kell?"

"I was jealous," she admitted softly.

Carrie held her breath, afraid to move a single muscle and hinder whatever it was the Texan was working up the courage to say.

"I was jealous," she repeated. "And I hate that....I hate that feeling. I hate that you made me feel that way. I hate the fact that it means that you make me vulnerable, and more than anything I hate the fact that he kissed you."

"I hate that he kissed me too," Carrie replied. "But you know something?"

"What?"

"I'd completely forgotten about it until you just brought it up. The only thing I could remember from last night was you."

"Well, that was the plan."

Carrie laughed softly, "You pulled it off quite well."

Kelly sighed, pulling her back down and kissing her gently before replying, "I'm sorry I was such a bitch the past few days."

"You weren't a bitch," Carrie shook her head. "I should've stepped up."

"Technically you didn't do anything wrong."

"And technically I shouldn't be feeling for a friend what I feel for you."

Kelly smiled, "Who needs technicalities anyway?"

"Yea," Carrie smiled back. "Who needs 'em?"

"What a sweet addiction that I'm caught up in.

'Cos I can't get enough,

Can't stop the hunger for your love."

"What happened?" Kelly asked worriedly, touching the side of Carrie's neck as they drove to the hospital.

"You did," Carrie laughed as Kelly ran a finger over the red mark.

"That was like two days ago."

"Yea, well, you seemed to have made a lasting impression."

Kelly laughed, "I kinda got caught up, huh?"

"I think you owe me a picture frame," she teased.

"Whatever, you enjoyed it."

Carrie just smiled as she continued to drive.

"I hope we see Michael."

"Why?" Carrie asked, turning to her as she parked in a parking space.

Kelly's eyes flickered to her neck.

"It's not that obvious," Carrie rolled her eyes. "It looks like I burnt myself with a straightener or something."

"I can make it more obvious," Kelly offered, leaning over and resting her hand on the other side of the country singer as she kissed her neck slowly.

"Kell..."

"Shh," Kelly whispered, tilting her head back, giving herself more access.

"Mm...Kell...not here..."

Kelly pouted, pulling away enough so that they could look at each other.

"We're in the parking lot of a children's hospital," Carrie pointed out, slightly out of breath.

"So? We totally practice safe sex. How can you be a better role model than that?"

Carrie laughed, pushing her face away playfully, "You're such a dork."

"Oh, whatever," Kelly grinned as they got out of the car. "If I hadn't pulled away, we'd so still be going at it."

Carrie thought for a moment before shrugging, "Yea."

Kelly laughed, linking their arms together.
