I look at the business card Schneider left on my bedside table.

Imprinted into its fine linen paper in crisp black is an address, and the words “Our little secret”…

The address is deep in the heart of Berlin’s red-light district, so I know whatever it is, it is destined to be naughty good fun.

I take a cab, and no sooner do I tell the driver the address, that he chuckles lewdly, his jowls jiggling.

He stops before a run-down old faggot discothèque.

Now I’m really curious.

I walk in, and down a corridor of bared bodies, grinding against each other, moaning and aching for each other.

I grow hard just at the prospect of what Schneider might have in mind…

I enter the main dancehall, and see rows of elegantly dressed ladies, offering their hands to lonely men for a dance.

One woman in particular catches my eye.

She has long, straight, silken black hair in a Betty Page cut. She wears a red tango dress, cut clear up her muscular thigh.

Strapped to her dainty feet are black platform dancing heels, with an open toe, and her toenails are painted cherry red, and look like little candies.

She hides her face with a black lace fan, trimmed in black marabou, but I can see her eyes.

They are a deep, crystal blue and breathtaking lined in soft, black kohl. Her long lashes flutter as she speaks with the gentlemen around her.

Her eyes rest on me, and I can barely make out her cherry red smile through the lace of her fan, and can feel her blush like a proper coquette.

I am entranced.

I walk to her in long strides, and she shuffles over to give me room to sit next to her on the barstool.

“Hallo meine Dame.” I salute her, kissing her hand, with nails that match her toes.

“Hallo mein Herr.” she returns in welcome, blushing again.

All at once, the music changes, and I ask my lady for a dance.

She nods her consent, and we take to the floor.

“I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight I've never seen you shine so bright I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance Looking for a little romance Given half a chance”

She lets her fan drop, and it hangs from her delicate wrist by a golden cord.

I smile with recognition.

“Surprised?” she asks me. “Impressed…” I answer, nuzzling her cheek.

We dance close together, as the song plays on…

“I have never seen that dress you're wearing Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes I have been blind The Lady in red Is dancing with me Cheek to cheek There's nobody here It's just you and me It's where I want to be And I hardly know this beauty by my side I'll never forget the way you look tonight”

I kiss her softly, afraid to mar her beautiful visage.

She laughs softly, and wraps her arms around my neck, joyous at my heedless acceptance.

“Oh, Paul…”

Suddenly, we are alone, and all the faces and people fade into the background as we own our destiny…

“I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight I've never seen you shine so bright You were amazing I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side And when you turned to me and smiled, It took my breath away I have never had such a feeling Such a feeling of complete and utter love as I do tonight”

She places her candy lips by my ear…

“I love you Paul…God I love you…”

She trembles from residual fear. She was afraid I wouldn’t accept her as this other…this mirror image of herself.

Nothing could be farther from the truth.

I've never loved her more.

“The Lady in red Is dancing with me Cheek to cheek There's nobody here It's just you and me It's where I want to be And I hardly know this beauty by my side I'll never forget the way you look tonight I never will forget the way you look tonight”

She grips my hand, and we flee the discotheque, running like children.

She hops on one foot, slipping out of her heels, slinging them over her shoulder.

“Holy fucking Christ, these heels are killing me!” he laughs, smiling, kissing me with all the passion he has.

“Schneider, I must say, I am quite impressed…” I almost sigh, lost in the scent of his perfume.

“Good…” he coos, “Impress me back at the hotel…show me just how fast you can get me out of this dress…”

And with that, we disappear into the night, but not without the last lines of the song following us out…

“The lady in red The lady in red The lady in red My lady in red I love you…”
