Chapter One

It wasn’t a bad day, Linde thought as he walked down the street to where I lived. He, I and the other band members wanted to celebrate with a record-finished-party for we had finished our new album only a couple of hours ago. All of us had returned to our own homes to take a shower and change clothes because we had spent the last night in the studio. Linde wanted to pick me up because my home was on the way to the club where we were going to meet.
And the night will become even better, Linde added, although he would be very much mistaken.
As he arrived at my apartment door he was overcome by an odd feeling. Something was wrong, but at first he was not able to pinpoint what exactly. However, after a few moments he noticed the funny smell that came from beyond the door. He leant his head against it in the hope of hearing something, but the wood was too thick. Luckily, he had a key to my apartment and unlocked the door and stepped quietly inside. The smell was unbearable and he could now hear voices hissing from the bedroom. He walked over to the door, which stood ajar, as quickly and quietly as he could. The voices were now coherent enough to be recognized as male, none of them were familiar.
“I understand the master that he wants this man” Linde heard one of them saying. “He is so beautiful. These dark, long curls … and the pale skin”
Linde froze at first but after a moment dared to sneak a glimpse into the room. He had a good view and could see the bed clearly from his hiding place. Two very muscular men stood staring at me lying there, motionless. At this very moment Linde identified the smell plaguing his senses, it was chloroform. One of the men bent down to touch my body.
“Really beautiful, indeed.” he said and sent his partner a sideways glance. The other one shook his head and said in an angry tone:
“Doesn’t matter how pretty the boy is. You know we’re not allowed to do that. We’d better hurry up now. Vic!”
And Lily, still hiding behind the door, felt a rush of draught to his right temple and saw a quick movement, and then there was nothing but darkness.

Vic, holding me, took one last glance to Lily, unconscious on the floor, before continuing toward the door.

The first thing Linde noticed as he awoke was that he was laid on the floor. He had a momentary memory-loss but after a time was able to reconstruct what had happened before his black out, panic immediately overcame him.
“Oh, no! Ville … The others, I should call them,” he mumbled to himself, crawling to the telephone.

The rest of the band, now in the club, were beginning to wonder why Linde and I still hadn’t arrived.
Then Seppo, our manager’s, mobile phone rang.
“Yeah?” He said, listened for a moment before placing the phone back into his pocket.
“That was Linde.” He informed Migé, Burton and Gas. “He sounds bad, couldn’t understand anything but ‘Ville’. I think he needs help.”

Upon arrival to my apartment they found a depressed looking Linde sitting on the floor next to the telephone. He had a deep, bleeding gash across his right temple.
“Linde, what’s happened? Where’s Ville?” Migé said, panicking.
However, Seppo was quick to take charge:
“Migé, calm down. Go and find something for Linde’s head. Burton, Gas, take Linde into the living room.”
So they did, and after ten minutes or so Linde was able to think and speak reasonably well and attempted to answer their continuous rush of questions.
He repeated everything he had seen, Ville’s kidnap and the bittersweet words of his captors. “Gone.” He finished and the room returned to silence, everyone appearing too drowned in their own thoughts to speak, Linde not being the only one teary-eyed.
