love calling

**text** means thoughts

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! BAM, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO LAST NIGHT?"

That was the first thing to penatrate through Bam's foggy mind as he woke up with the hangover from hell, his mothers high pitched screaming piercing through his brain.

He placed his pillow over his head and attempted to block out everything until the pounding in his skull stopped. Unfortunately, his plan was destroyed as his mom stormed into his bedroom and pulled the pillow away from him, hitting him once with it before carrying on with her rant.

"THE PLACE IS A MESS, BAM. THERE'S EMPTY BOTTLES EVERYWHERE AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE'VE BEEN BROKEN INTO, THE AMOUNT OF FURNITURE THAT'S BEEN SMASHED. WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? YOU WERE HERE BY YOURSELF, HOW DID YOU MAKE THAT MUCH MESS? AND....."

Bam cut her off quickly, his head feeling like it was about to explode. "She left me." His voice was quiet and void of emotion.

"What?" Ape was stunned into silence.

"Jenn. left. me." Bam said each word slowly and carefully, not really wanting to repeat himself any more. "Sorry about the house, I'll clean it up later."

"Oh, honey I'm so sorry." Ape sat on the edge of his bed, feeling guilty about the way she'd yelled at him, and pulled Bam into her arms. As she did, something happened that she hadn't seen for years- Bam started to cry.

She held him until his crying had subsided, unable to think of anything to say that would make it better.

"Ok. Now, I'm gonna go clean up the mess and you're gonna go and have a shower. Then I'm gonna make you some breakfast which I know you don't feel like eating but you need it, and some strong coffee and asprin for that hangover.

Bam gave a small smile at his mother's fussing and got out of bed, deciding there was no point in arguing with her.

Half an hour later, Bam was sitting at the table, picking at his eggs. His mom had put little 'trees' in them again to remind him of the fun they'd had on Arbour day a few weeks back, but it only reminded him that Jenn had been there watching, shaking her head at their childishness but finding it funny at the same time.

He managed to get through half of his breakfast and what felt like a hundred cups of strong black coffe before his friends arrived.

They'd all been invited to see CKY play but Bam had stayed behind because Jenn had said they had to have a talk that couldn't wait. As his friends walked through the door, raving about how great the gig had been, Bam plastered a fake smile onto his face and hoped he could pretend nothing was wrong.

"BAM! what's up dude?! the gig was awsome! how was the night in with Jenn?! what did she want to tell you?"

Everyone was talking at once and Bam wanted to punch someone as they all blended into one mindless noise. Instead, he gritted his teeth and forced himself to listen to them.

"Hey guys, how busy was the gig?"

"It was packed out! We got right to the front though, a perk of knowing the band I guess!" Dunn replied "You should have been there. What did Jenn want anyway?"

"None of your fucking business" Bam snapped, scraping the rest of his eggs into the bin.

"Ooh touchy!!" Dico teased. "Don't tell me she's pregnant!"

"SHE LEFT ME. HAPPY NOW?" Bam yelled throwing the plate against the wall. His friends stood in shocked silence as the plate smashed into tiny pieces and Bam walked silently out of the room.

They found him sitting in the pirate bar with Ape and Phil both trying to comfort their distressed son.

"Dude what happened? I thought you two were happy together." Dunn said, giving his friend a quick hug

"Yeah I know, so did I."

"Did she tell you why she broke it off with you?" Raab asked

"Yeah she did. It was cos I told her something I thought she should know and she couldn't handle it. I don't wanna tell you guys yet cos I don't think I can handle losing my girlfriend and my mates in two days."

"C'mon man, you can tell us anything, we're not gonna care." said Dico

"Ok.... I'm bi-sexual." Bam said simply

There was an uncomfortable silence as his friends processed the information he'd just hit them with. Finally Bam had had enough of the shocked stares of his friends.

"it's not like I wanted to be bi-sexual you know, I'm still the same person and besides, I'm not attracted to you guys anyway."

"Aaw dude, so you mean I've been running around this place naked for nothing?!!" joked Novak, and Bam laughed, thankful that at least one of his friends was ok with it.

"Yeah sorry mate, after seeing you naked it put me right off!"

The tension seemed to have been broken as the rest of his friends let him know they were still there for him.

"Why didn't you tell us sooner?" asked Dunn, still a little pissed that his best friend hadn't confided in him.

"I hated myself for it at first but when I got used to it I was worried about how everyone else would react. I thought everyone would hate me and I was right, Jenn left me because of it. Ape, Phil and Jess have known for a while though."

"Forget about Jenn, if she can't handle it then she wasn't worth it." Rake said "Tonight we're gonna go out and get wasted so you can forget about her, there's other girls out there."

"And guys" Raab added helpfully.

"Oh no he isn't" Ape said, cutting of Bam's acceptance of the offer. "He's still recovering from a hangover from last night and he has a demo tomorrow morning so he has to be up early and sober."

They started to argue but stopped as soon as they saw Ape's 'mom' face. It had taken her twenty four years to get it perfect but it worked every time.

The CKY crew went straight to bed, exhausted after the gig and Bam spent the rest of the day trailing round the house trying to get rid of all traces of Jenn.

As Bam got into bed, he automatically reached out for Jenn and his heart sank as he remembered. He finally fell asleep in the early hours of the morning, broken hearted but somehow comforted that he wasn't going to lose his friends as well.

The next few days Bam kept himself busy with demo's, practises and filming the new season of Viva la Bam but the more he thought about it the more he realized he wouldn't have wanted to be in a relationship with someone who couldn't accept his sexuality.

The pain of losing Jenn was fading very quickly and it made him wonder how much he had really loved her if it was that quick to get over her.

Two weeks after Jenn had left, Bam had another demo. He left the park after it had finished feeling rather pleased with himself. He'd done really well, had only bailed once and on his way out he'd overheard two people saying he'd been the best skater there.

His joy was short-lived though as his cell phone rang and he picked it up to hear Johnny Knoxville's annoying laugh.

"What's up Knoxville?" Bam sighed

Johnny only laughed harder. "Where's your lambo Bam?!"

"It's parked on the side of the road near the skate park, why?"

"Think again Bammie!" It was only then that Bam realized his pride and joy, his $250,000 lambo wasn't where he parked it. In fact it wasn't anywhere to be found.

"Where is it you bastard?" Bam growled down the phone.

"I can't tell you that but I promise you'll get it back unharmed - eventually!" Knoxville was enjoying this way too much and Bam swore to himself that there would be some serious revenge heading his way.

"Enjoy the walk home, Bam!!" With that, Johnny hung up, leaving Bam cursing at an empty street and a stray cat that watched him boredly for a few minutes before walking off with it's tail in the air.

Bam finished ranting and realized it wasn't that far from home and he decided to walk rather than get one of his friends to pick him up.

He found he actually enjoyed the walk home, with no one disturbing him and no over-protective mother asking him if he was ok every ten seconds.

He cut through the parking lot of Antonio's restaurant, quickly ducking past the window in case his uncle was there. As he walked down the street, the heard the sounds of a fight.

He thought about ignoring it but changed his mind as he knew that if something happened, he'd feel guilty even though he hadn't been involved.

He walked into the alleyway, seeing a group of three guys aiming kicks at a body curled up on the floor.

"Fucking faggot, we don't want queers like you in our town, it's fucking disgusting." The insults came as fast as the blows and Bam felt his anger rising that people could be so narrow minded and cruel to someone for nothing more than their sexuality.

He briefly wondered how he was going to be any help on his own against three guys but didn't have long to think as one of them spotted him.

"Quick, lets go!" the other two looked up terrified because someone had found them, and all three ran without looking back behind them.

Bam reached down to help the person, taking a good look them as they turned to face him.

Tear-filled green eyes were swollen from punches to the face and dark makeup was smudged beyond repair. Pouty lips were split and bleeding, his clothes were torn and dirty and every inch of skin that Bam could see was scratched, bruised and bloody - He was the most beautiful thing that Bam had ever seen. He was also in shock. Bam recognised the symptoms as he'd ended up that way after a couple of his more dangerous stunts had gone wrong. He took off his blazer and placed it over the shaking boy's shoulders.

"Hey, do you live near here or were you just passing by, when those assholes jumped you?" He recieved no answer so he tried again.

"I need to know where you live so I can take you home." Still no answer and Bam was beginning to get a little worried.

"Maybe I should just take you to the hospital." This caused the boy to shake his head violently but he still refused to speak.

Bam sighed heavily. "I guess I'll take you back to mine then cos I'm not leaving you here by yourself in case those guys come back." He was rewarded for his kindness with the sweetest smile he'd ever seen and he had to mentally slap himself as he found himself blushing like a school girl.

The boy refused to speak the entire way back to the house although he stuck close to Bam, almost clinging to him. The minute they got through the front door, Ape was in front of them.

"Bam, where have you been? It should only have taken you ten minutes to drive from the skate park and you've been gone an hour and a half." She finally noticed that Bam wasn't alone. "Oh my god, what happened? I'll go and get the first aid kit, go and wait in the lounge."

They did as they were told a within a few minutes she was back and fixing up his wounds. Bam always tried to annoy his mom but he had to admit, she was great when someone needed help, she always did what she could without asking questions.

"What's your name honey?" Ape got no response and she turned to Bam, puzzled.

"I think he's in shock. He hasn't spoken since I found him getting beaten up. They thought he was gay. I don't know if it's true or not but that's why they were hurting him."

"For god's sake, what's wrong with people? Why can't they just let others live the way they want to?" Ape was getting annoyed and Bam couldn't help but grin even though he agreed with her.

"I'm gonna take him up to my room and let him sleep for a while." Bam said once Ape had finished. He showed the boy where everything was and made sure he was settled before leaving the room and heading downstairs to the pool where he knew his friends and parents would be. He also knew that Ape would have told them what had happened and they would all want details.

"Ok, which one of you jerkoff's helped Knoxville take my car?" Bam demanded. After everyone denied it, he spent an hour questioning them all, but in the end Bam had to admit that none of them actually knew anything.

"Stop changing the subject anyway" grinned Dunn. "did you play the knight in shining armour?!"

"Yeah, is he hot?" asked Novak "from your point of view, I mean" he added quickly as everyone stared at him.

"I didn't do anything, as soon as they saw me they ran. I just brought him back here cos he was in shock but didn't want to go to the hospital."

"Do you fancy him?" asked Raab cheekily

"Just because I'm Bi-sexual it doesn't mean I now fancy every guy I see" Bam said, slightly annoyed.

"You didn't answer the question."

"He was covered in blood and bruises" protested Bam weakly

"DO YOU FANCY HIM?!!" everyone yelled at once.

"He's beautiful." Bam admitted. "but I don't know anything about him, he hasn't even spoken yet."

"That's never stopped you before" joked Dunn.

"I know but he seems so...." Bam struggled to find the right word and became frustrated when he couldn't. "I don't know. I know I haven't even spoken to him but there's something about him that makes me want to protect him."

"Well, will you settle for taking him some food?" Ape said. "I'm going to make him some soup. Once it's done, you can take it up to him and see how he is."

A little while later and Bam was slowly carrying a tray of food up the stairs making sure not to spill anything. He wasn't usually so careful but he wanted everything to be perfect.

He opened the bedroom door and walked in, seeing the boy asleep in the middle of the big bed. Bam placed the tray on the table near his bed and leant over and gently shook the boy awake.

He immediately wished he hadn't though as the boy, obviously not quite awake, thought he was being attacked again and threw a punch which managed to hit Bam right in the jaw.

"OW! FUCKING HELL!" Bam pressed a hand to his aching face and looked down at the bed. All he could see was a pair of tear-filled and horrified green eyes looking at him. He knew that he was waiting for Bam to hit him back and that realization made Bam's heart ache for him.

"Hey it's ok, don't worry. It was my fault. I should have known better than to shake you awake like that after what you've just been through."

Bam waited untill the boy had come out from under the covers before carrying on.

"I've brought you some food, I hope it's ok, Ape's not the best cook in the world."

They sat silently, watching each other as the smaller boy ate. Once he had finished, Bam took the empty dishes and went to take them back downstairs. Just as he reached the door, he heard his name.

He turned to see him nervously playing with his chin length, dark brown hair. Finally he looked up at Bam's expectant face. "I'm Ville."

Bam completely missed what he'd said as he was totally transfixed by the deep, husky, heavily accented voice coming from the gorgeous boy in front of him. Bam tried to speak but no words were forthcoming. He cleared his throat and tried again.

"Um, what?" ** great, way to go Bam, now he thinks you're a total idiot.**

"My name's Ville." The young boy patiently repeated. "Thanks for helping me earlier by the way and I'm really sorry about hitting you."

"Uh, t..that's ok" stuttered Bam. "how are you feeling now?"

"A little freaked out by what happened but I'm ok."

"Yeah, I'm not suprised. They were beating you up because they thought you were gay, weren't they?"

Ville nodded but refused to look at him.

"Are you? I'm not gonna hurt you if you are."

"Yeah. They saw me holding hands with Mige and they didn't like it so they waited until he'd gone before they came up to me."

"Is Mige your boyfriend?" asked Bam, feeling an irrational pang of jealousy.

"No, he's just a close friend. I don't have a boyfriend at the moment."

"Oh good." Bam sighed, relieved. Suddenly he realized what he'd said.

"I mean, because if you did, he'd probably be really worried about you by now." **Oh yeah, great cover dumb ass** Bam yelled at himself.

Ville gave him an angelic looking smile. "How about you? Do you have a girlfriend or boyfriend at the moment?"

"Me and my girlfriend broke up two weeks ago and I've only just came out as bi-sexual so I haven't had a boyfriend."

"Oh good. I mean, I don't want a jealous boyfriend finding me in your bed!" Ville's sweet innocent smile grew seductive and teasing, and Bam found himself blushing heavily and unable to come up with a quick retort for the first time in his life.

"I, uh, I better get these dishes back downstairs. There's some clothes in the dresser that you can wear, they might be a bit big on you but yours are all torn. If you feel up to it, you can come downstairs to the pool."

Bam babbled, and rushed out the door without giving Ville time to reply.
