A/N: This story is for my sister:)

Fresh out of Beauty school, Amanda was ready to become a hair and makeup stylist. She herself had lazy, just-past-the-shoulder length brunette hair, milky white skin and blue eyes that sometimes liked to look almost green. She was average height, about 5’8’’. She had a small frame and looked like she would fall over if you so much as breathed on her. And not to mention, she was a bit clumsy; she constantly found herself tripping over things, a lot of the time it was her own feet.

Amanda had all the right certifications, recommendations, and anything else she could ever need. And living in the windy city itself, Chicago, you would think there would be plenty of job openings for her. However, the one thing that was currently keeping her out of work was that she had no real work experience.

At the moment, Amanda was on her way to a newspaper stand to look in the Help Wanted ads.

As Amanda reached the door to her, rather small apartment, she pushed the key into the lock and twisted it.

SNAP!

The key broke off in the lock.

“Shit.” She whispered to herself in monotone, as if she had expected this to happen.

She stepped back from the door and yelled up to an open window, “Leah!” She waited . . . no response. So she tried again, “LEAH!”

“WHAT?!” Success! A chocolate colored girl with short, curly brown hair poked her head out the window. When she saw the other girl, a smile quickly crossed her face. “That lock giving you trouble again?” she laughed.

“Ha ha very funny,” Amanda replied, “Except this time the key has decided to break off in the lock!”

Leah laughed some more, “You don’t say.”

“Yeah, I do say. Now get down here and let me in!”

“Okay, okay, just let me hop in the shower and I’ll be right down.” She slowly disappeared from the window.

“LEAH!”

She popped her head back out, “Aw you know I’m just kidding girl. I’ll be right there.”

Amanda just shook her head as she waited.

The door rattled a bit, but still didn’t open.

“What’s wrong now?” Amanda asked through the door.

“Well I’m guessing since that rusted shit you call a key is lodged in there, the lock won’t turn.”

Amanda sighed, “Great.”

“Hold on, I got an idea.”

Amanda then pressed her ear against the cold, white door to try to listen. She could hear Leah rustling around inside for something. “What is she doing?” she wondered to herself.

Just then Amanda jumped back from the door as a large thud was heard from the other side. The door slowly creaked open to reveal Leah holding a large rubber mallet in one hand, resting it on her shoulder. And the inside part of the doorknob in the other.

“I think we need a new lock.” Leah said with a smile.

Amanda just looked up at Leah with raised eyebrows and a slightly dropped jaw. It was then that the doorknob from the other side of the door slipped out from its position and fell with a clank on the floor.
