Die smiled as he knocked on his girlfriend Ashlee's door. He went over the list of special things he had planned for her in his head. Today wasn't just any other day; it was Halloween, and it happened to be her favorite holiday. He knocked again and waited for a few minutes before he chuckled to himself and dug the key to her apartment that she gave him out of his pocket. Sleepyhead. "Why are you here so early?"

"We're going to spend the day together" he said as he pulled her into a sitting position. "Now...how about some breakfast?" he asked as he turned and grabbed the tray, setting it on her lap.

She looked at the tray and then up at Die as she smiled. "Die! This is so sweet. No one has ever given me breakfast in bed before!" she beamed. She looked back down and noticed he had all of her favorites on the tray: juice, coffee, various fruits, and toast with chocolate spread. Suddenly she felt his breath against her cheek.

"That food isn't going to eat itself you know."

She turned and he flashed her one of his award-winning smiles that never failed to make her weak in the knees. She smiled at him and nodded as she began to eat. He plucked a grape from the bowl and popped it into his mouth as he crawled onto the bed and sat down behind her, scooting forward so her back was resting against his chest. His legs slid out around her as his arms encircled her waist. She sighed contentedly and he rested his chin atop her shoulder. She fed him a few pieces of fruit.

"Hey...wait a minute. Didn't you have practice today?" she asked him, raising her eyebrow.

"Yeah but I told Kao I was skipping out to spend the day with you. Surprisingly enough, he didn't seem to have a problem with it." He smiled and kissed her cheek.

"That's good. I wouldn't want you getting in trouble because of me. Who the hell practices on Halloween anyway?"

"Kaoru" they both said in unison before they burst out laughing.

Ashlee finished her breakfast and set the tray on the floor before reclining against Die.

"Hey little woman don't go getting all comfortable because we're going downstairs."

She turned to give him a questioning look. "Why?"

He smirked. "It's a surprise." He crawled out from behind her and helped her up. She moved to get the tray but he stayed her hand. "I'll get it. Just go downstairs and get comfortable on the couch" he said with a smile.

After he finished cleaning up, he walked into the living room and put a DVD in the player before he joined her on the couch. They curled up against each other in much the same position as before. She squealed and hugged Die when The Nightmare Before Christmas appeared on the screen. He ran his fingers through her hair as they watched the movie, thinking to himself how cute it was that small things like this brought her so much joy. He smiled as the song Jack's Lament came on and he started singing it to her. She whipped around in his arms with a smile so wide her face could've split in half. He really got into it then, putting on a theatrical performace just for her. After he was finished she turned all the way around and hugged him tightly. He pulled her against him so she was laying on top of him and he kissed her forehead. She snuggled into his embrace as they watched the rest of the movie. At the part where Jack finds Sally and they sing together Die started singing again. My dearest friend, if you don't mind, I'd like to join you by your side where we can gaze into the stars...Ashlee joined in when Sally did, lifting herself off Die enough so she could look him in the eyes while singing. He entwined their fingers together over his heart. ...And sit together now and forever. For it is plain as anyone can see, we're simply meant to be. "There's more?" she asked, surprised. "I don't think the day can get any better!"

"Of course there's more! I said we're spending the day together, I planned the whole thing out!" he beamed. He pulled her up and led her out to the kitchen where he had two pumpkins sitting on the table waiting to be carved. Her eyes lit up and she clapped as she ran over to the table.

"We're going to carve pumpkins?!" she exclaimed. He nodded with a grin and caught her when she jumped on him hugging him fiercely. He lifted her off the ground and spun her around once before moving them over to the table where they both began carving their pumpkins.

Ashlee smiled brightly as she surveyed her work.

"Lemme see" Die said. He stifled a laugh as she turned her pumpkin to reveal Squirtle from Pokemon. "Only you would carve a Pokemon pumpkin" he said as he chuckled.

"Oh yeah? Well what did you carve out of yours?" He spun it around and she knitted her brows together in confusion.

He shook his head disapprovingly. "It's Toshiya! Notice the teeth?"

She giggled as she thought of Toshiya's face appearing in the pumpkin. "And here I was expecting to see a penis when you turned it around."

He scrunched his nose up. "A penis?! Come on Ash, I'm more creative than that!" He smirked as he picked up a handful of pumpkin innards and threw it at her.

When she came back downstairs, Die was setting bowls of candy on a table by the door. He turned to her and smiled. "The trick-or-treaters will be here soon." After the last of the kids walked away, she turned to him.

"Die this has been the best day ever. It almost makes me wish every day were Halloween." Thinking back on today and how happy she had been, he felt the same way.
