Faded Hopes and Shattered Dreams

Perhaps, not so long ago, a hole was torn open in the gray matter that serves as a separator between the worlds. We can see through to you, and those of you with superior minds, or sometimes broken ones, can see through to us too. But when large amounts of people die, the tiny, well controlled hole in the gray matter is no longer large enough for the concentration of souls that lies within it. Something has to give, and soon the fabric of this divider tears and shreds, and the souls of the recently deceased can come in… but sometimes, if one is crafty enough, a soul can slip out, treading on the heads of the incoming spirits, like a salmon swimming upstream. Perhaps, not so long ago, this happened, and all hell broke loose because of it.
The lives of a few people were forever changed because of such a slip, and it is my job to tell you the tale. After all, it was me who pulled myself, gasping, out of that void and back into the warm sunshine of this world. It was me who took over the body of a starving artist and made him great. It was me who made him a monster, and it was me who paid the price. Who am I? I couldn’t tell you. I know that I call myself, only Gee, and I know that I enjoy violence, and I enjoy inflicting pain. I know that I am dead, but I can’t tell you who I was. I can’t tell you why I am the way I am. All I can tell you is what I’ve done, and let you judge for yourself.
