Okay new story, this

is kind of a prologue I guess. I wasn’t sure what you guys would think of this so I decided to just post it and just take a chance. So let me know what you think and whether I should continue or just leave it as a One Shot and let you guys come up with an ending in your own minds.

Gerard knocked on the door to Frank’s house but to no avail. He tried the door and then found that it was open. It was very unlike him to not answer the door, and even more so to leave the door unlocked. He hadn’t seen or spoken to Frank in over 3 days which was unusual for them, but when he hadn’t turned up for band practice that afternoon this had set off alarm bells in Gerard’s head.

“Frank?” Gerard entered into the house, anxiously searching for his friend. Then saw him pooled on the floor, collapsed in the front room. Upon seeing this Gerard skidded on the laminate flooring to end up kneeling at his side. “Frankie. Wake up...please.” Gerard pulled Frank’s head gently into his lap. Then Frank opened his eyes slightly, looking at Gerard groggily. “What...Gerard? What are you...doing here?”

“I was worried about you...” Gerard told him, stroking same stray fringe from his forehead. “So I came to check in on you...”

“Thank you...” Frank whispered. “I don’t...want to be alone...”

This caused Gerard heart to jump in fear. “class=SpellE>Wha...what do you mean Frankie?”

Frank took a shuddering breath. “I’m sorry.” He whispered. “Don’t hate me.”

“Frankie...please...you’re scaring me...what are you sorry for?” Frankie shook his head, Gerard saw tears begin to form in his eyes. “I didn’t want to hurt you guys. I didn’t know how to...deal I guess...so I...”

Tears were prickling at Gerard’s eyes as well now. “What did you do Frank? Please tell me we can sort it...”

“No...you can’t...” Frank’s voice was getting weaker and Gerard scanned the room briefly, then he spotted it two bottles on the table, both empty. “Frank...you didn’t?” Frank looked away, the tears sliding freely down his cheeks now. Gerard got up and ran over grabbing one of the bottles. He was back at Frank’s side in less than 3 strides. “Frank! Look at me!” Gerard forced his friend chin up. “Did you take these?”

Frank’s eyes began to droop and Gerard tapped his cheek lightly. “Frank! Stay awake and answer me! Did you take these tablets?!” Frank gave a very small nod before everything swirled around him and he lapsed into unconsciousness.

“Oh god...Frankie! Wake up dammit!” No response. Gerard pulled out his phone and quickly dialled 911. “Helloclass=GramE>?...Yes I need an ambulance...my friend...he’s taken an overdose...”

***

Gerard sat next to his friend, one hand clasped between his. He hadn’t left his friend’s side since they brought him in. They’d pumped his stomach and put him on a charcoal drip and said all they really could do was wait. There were red rings around Gerard’s eyes from where he’d been rubbing them fiercely and he looked altogether exhausted. He really should have rung Mikey by now to tell him, the same with Ray and Bob but he’d been too scared to leave Frank’s side in case something happened. What could have driven Frank to this? Why didn’t he talk to them? To him?

It was then that a doctor entered the room, a small dish in his hands which he placed on the side. “Sorry to disturb you w:st="on">Mr. Way...we just needed to check up on some of Mr. Iero’s vitals.” He did a couple of tests, including opening Frank’s eyelids and shining a torch into them. “Well his pupils seem to be responding properly which is a good sign.” The doctor gave Gerard a smile, who returned it gratefully. “So he’ll be okay?”

“We’re not out of the woods yet w:st="on">Mr. Way, but the signs are promising.”

The doctor then went to the dish and retrieved a syringe. He tested it before going to inject it into Frank’s IV.

“What’s that for?” Gerard looked at the doctor bemusedly. “Just an antibiotic booster to keep his immune system up...considering his condition.”

“Condition?” Gerard looked even more confused at this point.

“He didn’t...ah...well I think you’ll need to ask Mr. Iero about that I’m afraid. I can’t tell you due to patient confidentiality.”

“Will he have to see a councillor or something?”

“I...I think...that’s already taken care of...” The doctor didn’t elaborate on this elusive answer just quietly left the room. Gerard’s frown deepening in thought as he wondered if this ‘condition’ had anything to do with Frank taking those pills. It was then that he felt Frank’s hand tighten slightly in his. “Frankie?” Gerard immediately moved closer to his friend.

Frank opened his eyes slowly, squinting at the brightness of the room. “Is it over?” he whispered to no-one in particular. Then he looked to the side and saw Gerard. Tears immediately pooled in his eyes once again as he realised he wasn’t dead. “Frankie. It’s okay. Everything’s gonna be fine. I promise.”

“No!!” Frank tore his hand from Gerard’s. “You kept me here Gerard!! Why didn’t you just let me go! It’s what I wanted!!”

“Because I couldn’t okay?!?!” Gerard finally snapped, yelling at him, anger boiling inside him. class=GramE>“For fuck’s sake Frank!! You’re one of my best friends in this whole world and you expect me to just let you die!!” Frank turned away from him. “You don’t understand...” He whispered as tears began to slip down his cheeks.

“Then make me understand!!” Gerard was glaring at him angrily. When Frank turned back to him and Gerard saw the sadness in his eyes, the hurt and most of all the vulnerability, all his anger seemed to melt away like butter. “Frankie...I just want to help you...” Gerard laid a hand on the side of his face gently. “But I can’t do that unless you talk to me...”

Frank stared at him for a moment. There seemed to be some immense battle going on inside of him. He took a shuddering before he averted his eyes from Gerard’s and whispered. “I’ve got cancer.”

So there it isclass=GramE>, I know it’s short but as I said if I continue this it’s only a prologue really. I put Character Death as one of the warning but as this is a WIP I really don’t know yet as you can see from the ending there. Updates for Childs Mind, Helpless and Was It Worth It are all on their way so hold tight those who are awaiting those new chappies. Reviews make my day so make me smile. Slayya x
