Halfway House

Title: Halfway House
Rating: MA for heavy drug use and suicide.

A/N: While listening to this song, I thought how great it would feel to commit suicide by over dosing on heroin. If you have never heard the song Halfway House from cKy, I advise that you do while reading this story.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own the song Halfway House, the band cKy, the album Volume One, nor Chad I Ginsburg.

She sat at her desk, writing the letter for the world to see. Caitlin knew that he didn't love her the way that she loved him. When she first met Chad three years ago at Hellview II, Caitlin thought that her life had changed. It did, but not for the good.

Black eye make up ran down her face as she cried. Scribbling down as fast as she could, Caitlin just wanted to get this done and over with.

Sometimes I get the strangest feelings
I want to bust your head in
I've got the whole world freaking
I'm just the kind of guy

Finishing the note, Caitlin tucked it under the mirror that she would be using. Taking a small baggy out from her desk draw, she opened it and dumped out the contents on the mirror.

“Chad, I'm sorry.” she wept as she started to finely cut the brown tar, which sat in front of her.

Looking at the pictures that covered her walls, Caitlin cried harder. Most of them was with her and Chad, both smiling and happy.

Bending her spoon, she took the powder and placed it on the silvery surface.

All around the world
They've got their hands up screaming
Can't the gambles fly
No one knows for sure

Placing the spoon down, Caitlin reached into her bag and pulled out a black case. Unzipping it, she pulled out a glass syringe and a clean needle. Assembling it, she put it down next to the mirror. Taking out a lighter she put it under the spoon and watched the powder melt into liquid. Putting the tip of the needle in the spoon she sucked up the liquid and put the needle down.

I've got the portrait hanging around
In the picture frame
In the halfway house on life
We're not the same

Time draws a narrow streak
I'm just your average freak
Made a deal with life
I'm known around the world

I'm not the one with the open wound
You're just protection for the righteous kind
I'm not the one with an open wound
You're just protection for the righteous kind
Righteous kind...

Walking over to the closet, she found a belt and wrapped it around the top of her arm. Tightening it up, she started to feel for a vein. Pushing the needle into her arm, Caitlin shut her eyes and pushed the plunger in. She could feel the warmth of the heroin entering her blood stream. Taking the belt off of her arm, she knew that she didn't have much time left. In about five minutes Caitlin would start to feel sleepy and she would finally die.

Fixing the note so Chad could find it, she called him and told him to hurry over to her apartment. Starting to feel a bit dozed, Caitlin laid down and cried until she could feel her heart slow down. Her nose and ears started to bleed on her white sheets. Tasting blood on her lips, Caitlin started to fall.

“I love you Chad Ginsburg.” was the last thing that Caitlin said before her heart stopped.

Came of a world of trouble
I've got the hopeful freed
Made a deal with life
I know that life is cruel
My cataclysmic thoughts
The mother of my dreams
Your plan betrayed my smoke screen
I'm wrapped around your screams

Fifteen minutes later, Chad walked into her apartment and down to her room. Seeing the blood on Caitlin's face, he grabbed her in his arms and cried. He knew what she had done and now she was dead. Getting up, he walked over to the desk where a note labeled: Chad sat there. Opening it up, he realized that it was her suicide note.

Chad,

I can't live my life with out you. I thought you loved me the way that I loved you, but once I saw you with Jina I couldn't stand to live like that. Take my personal things home with you. I don't want you to forget us. Keep living for me.

I love you.

Caitlin.

“Caitlin, I did love you the way that you loved me.” Chad said to the limp, but warm dead body laying on the bed. Touching his fingers to her cheek, he kissed her. Running his fingers over the tattoos she had on her arms, Chad crouched next to her and cried. A huge piece of him died when he found her body. Looking around at the pictures on her wall, he realized that most of them was of him and her. Pulling one down, Chad studied it and tried to smile when he realized what it was from. The cKy New Years show in Atlantic city; Three months after they had met and started to talk.

Picking up her phone, he called the emergency services and sat there holding her until they got there. Threading his fingers through her hair, he couldn't help but kiss her forehead. The past three years that they had been friends, Chad fell very hard for Caitlin. He would wish that he could get away from Jina just to be with her, but now she over dosed so she didn't have to deal with the pain.

Her body starting to get cold. Chad wrapped them up in a blanket trying to keep her warm as if she was still alive. Wiping the blood away from her mouth, he kissed her a final time as he heard the EMT's walk through the door.

“I love you Caitlin.” Putting her body down on the top sheet, he covered her up and walked away to show the EMT's where she was.

Sitting at home that night with a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand and a nine millimeter hand gun sitting on the table in front of him, he remembered how she looked when he found her body. The blood on her face and how her eyes were rolled back, especially. Taking the barrel of the gun, Chad put it under his chin.

“I'm not going to keep living. I fucked up with us living. I want to be with you in death.”

With that he pulled the trigger. Chad figured that if he couldn't be with Caitlin in life then they could be together in death.

Before he pulled the trigger, Chad had wrote a note saying that it was his fault that she OD'ed and that he could never be truly happy without Caitlin.

Both Chad and Caitlin were buried side by side. Even in death they could never be separated.
