Wow, damn, that was fantastic. I thought the twist with the allegorical characters was pretty cool. I also liked how the ending wasn't what you'd expect. I'm a sucker for a happy ending, but somehow, an ending where the conflict isn't resolved, or in which things turn out for the worst seems more poignant, and has greater impact. I would have liked it had you gone into your system of magic a bit more, but I understood why you didn't. It would seem to me that immediacy was called for, and you'd already done your buildup work. Further explanations would have slowed your pacing down, so it's all good :). You may not think this was "the" best story, but it certainly was one of the most original My Chem stories I've ever read. I'd like for there to be a sequel, or at least more writing in this universe, however, I understand being entirely tapped out on an idea (Plus having it be completely underappreciated). Thanks for your writing and thanks for your thanks.

P.S.: Why am I not surprised that Ray is turning out to be especially hard to corrupt or sway? :)

This is one of the best My Chem stories I've seen on aff.net. Most of the other dark fantasy/horror stories are not as well-written. It's obvious you take your time with your story and haven't just decided to rush through it for quick "smut" gratification, and for that, I commend you. The true "Black Parade", as you have depicted it, is a fascinating concept, it reminds me of the Wild Hunt in Celtic and Norse Mythology. I eagerly await the next chapter. Keep up the good work.
