You Know You Want To!

"Jakob get your shoes on!" Adrienne barked at her younger son, who sat glued to the television.

"I can't" He said helplessly.

"Joey help your brother get his shoes on."

"fine." He strained to tear his gaze from the TV.

"Billie, help Joey, help Jakob, get his shoes on"

"Fine" Billie muttered mimicking his older son. Adrienne was running around the hotel room trying to get her 3 boys ready for the day.

"Shoes are on mom" Joey said to no response from his mother.

"Look mom, mom, mom!" Jakob was fervently trying to get his mothers attention, while she talked to Billie.

"Ok, we should be back in time to see you before you go on,"

"Mom"

"But if not we'll see you after the show."

"Mom!"

"Okay." Billie said acknowledging his wife's words and slowly growing annoyed with his sons persistence.

Adrienne’s words were hasty and frazzled. She was already at her wits end at the days beginning.

"Mom! Mom, Look! Look mom!"

The phone rang and she snapped it up.” Hello!?" Finally pausing to hear her surroundings she became aware
Of her sons incessant chanting.

"MOOOOOOOO AAAAAAAAAM!"

"WHAT!?" She yelled in despair, connecting with her sons eyes.

"I got my shoes on."

"Yes I see, thank you, now go brush your teeth” She paused for a moment to recoup but was quickly pulled back by a distant yelling of her name...

"ADRIENNE NESSER ARMSTRONG! You answer this phone right this second. Are you there? If you don’t answer me right this instant I will.....ADRIENNE! What in god's name are you doing?"

"Mom, I’m sorry"

"What are you thinking, answering the phone then completely forgetting about the person on the other end? I raised you better than that, young lady!"

"Yes you did mother"

"Are you ready?"

"Yes, we'll meet you in the lobby in ten minutes."

"You better be down there, don’t leave me standing in the lobby....."

"10 minutes mother" And with that Adrienne gently set the phone back on the base. She was so stressed by her morning She hadn’t even noticed the relaxing neck massage her husband was giving her.

"You are amazing" he said.

"I am exhausted" she replied. "But that feels nice"

Billie slowly began to kiss her tense neck, trying to melt away the knots with each tender kiss.

"Oh that’s good" she moaned. He worked his way to her left ear and gave it a gentle nibble.

"Let your mother take the kids, you stay here with me."

"Shit! My mom, boys are you done brushing?"

A unanimous "no!" rang out from the cramped hotel bathroom. She pulled away from her clinging husband and ran to the boys. "I wish I could stay, but I promised I would spend the day with them." Billie had dutifully followed behind his wife to tend to his sons. "Look at you two! Toothpaste all down your shirt.
You just put these shirts on!" She peeled the tops from her kids and sent them giggling to their suitcases to fetch clean ones.

Adrienne cuddled into Billie's arms and he wrapped his inked appendages around her. She wished she could stay like this forever but no sooner had she closed her eyes than there was a knock on the door. Joey ran to greet the mystery guest only to find his grandmother standing on the other side.

"I assumed it would be safer to just come to your room rather then wait for ages down in the lobby."

"Good thinking mother." she said with her face still buried in billies chest. "Boys are we ready to go to six flags?"

"Yay! Daddy why can’t you come with us?"

"I wish I could boys. But daddy has a show tonight and I need to be here for rehearsal."

"AWWWWWWW"

"I know, i'm sorry maybe next time.” Billie loved his kids but the thought of spending all day in the blistering
Texas heat was more than he could bare. Adrienne got her mother and the boys out the door and scanned the room for any forgotten items. "Okay don’t forget you have practice at 3:30, don’t fall asleep and forget about it!
I guess were off then. Boys say good bye to daddy!"

"byeee!" the boys yelled from half way down the hall.

"Bye guys, have fun, see you later." And with a kiss he nudged his wife out the door.
