Chapter 13
Orlando lay there holding her. She slowly ran her finger up and down his arm. It was something that she used to do when she was upset. It had been a very long and trying day for the both of them. So much emotional stress on both their parts. He buried his face into her hair, which covered his pillow. She smelled like milk and honey. He inhaled deeply. Tia could feel the heat of his breath on her neck. It sent shivers down her spine. She snuggled closer to him and he tightened his hold on her.
Sometime during the night, Tia had turned over and was now facing him. Orlando was having a hard time sleeping. Not just because she was lying next to him. But he was still trying to figure out the meaning of her words to him. That she didn’t trust herself enough to trust in him.
The moon had risen high in the sky, letting moonlight shine into the room. Orlando looked at Tia’s face. He reached up and traced her features with his fingers. Her skin was so soft. He traced the curves of her lips. Aching to take them with his own. He held his breath as she suddenly opened her eyes.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing. I was just watching you sleep.” She tried to read into what he was thinking, but she couldn’t
“Why?”
“Because I wanted to. I wanted to just watch you. Watch how beautiful you are.”
“I’m not beautiful Orli.”
“Yes you are. Don’t say that.” Without realizing it, Tia reached up and traced shapes on his bare chest. Orlando felt his entire body react from her touch. When she did realize what she was doing, she immediately withdrew her hand.
“I’m sorry.” He reached down and took her hand in his. He kissed the top of it and then turned it over to kiss her palm.
“Don’t be sorry love.” He brought his thumb to her lips and gently rubbed her bottom lip.
“Orli.” She said with a whisper of a voice. He leaned in towards her.
“Just one kiss.” Was all he said before his lips found hers. The kiss started out slowly. Tia didn’t protest. He gently traced her lips with his tongue. Achingly nibbling at them. Tia moved her hand so that it was resting on the back of his neck. Urging him forward. Their tongues met in a slow sensual dance. Each of them feeding off of each other.
Tia thought she would burst. Kissing Orlando had always been something out of this world. But this kiss was different. This kiss shook her to her very core. The kiss could’ve gone on all night and she wouldn’t have cared. She ached from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. She arched her body into his
Orlando thought he was going to spontaneously combust if he continued kissing her. She tasted so sweet and heavenly. He hadn’t meant for this to happen. Not tonight. He didn’t want to push her. He wanted her to have time to sort things out. And here he was probably confusing the hell out of her. He moaned when he felt her fingers running through his hair. But he knew that they had to stop. Stop before things went further than was intended. He painfully pulled away.
“Tia. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen.” She looked confused. “I mean, not that I didn’t enjoy it. But I didn’t mean to push you love. Not tonight.”
“You didn’t push me Orli. And don’t apologize. Please.” She reached up to caress his cheek. “I promise. We’ll talk soon. Okay?”
“Okay love. Now let’s go to sleep.” She turned back over and he folded her into his arms once again. It wasn’t long before he could hear her steady breathing. Knowing she was asleep. It was a long time before he could fall asleep.
Tia awoke before he did. She looked at the clock and saw that it was early. But she had things to do. Orlando was now sleeping on his back. She quietly eased out of bed. But did turn back and kiss him quickly on the lips. He mumbled something and rolled over, clutching the pillow she had slept on.
Orlando woke a short time later. And when he opened his eyes, he came face to face with Sammy who began licking his face. He laughed and gently pushed the dog away.
“Argh Sammy!” Orlando sniffed the air. Tia was cooking breakfast. He wondered what the day would cook up between the two of them.
