Immortal Chapter 13
‘Is it really wise to hold information from him’ Jim smiled, cuddling Margaret to him in bed later that evening. ‘You know Gerard hates you meddling in his affairs’
’I haven’t meddled, I just haven’t told him the lies in the paper’
’Mags?’
’I like him the way he is, his eyes sparkling, his mouth curved in a smile. I like him with her, and I want him to be with her as long as possible, this news can only rock the boat’ she smiled, ‘No go to sleep, you leave the worrying to me’.
’Night love’ Jim laughed, closing his eyes and hoping that Gerard would one day love a woman as he adored his mother.
’Is it France?’ Lizzie asked, holding onto his arm securely as they walked into the airport.
’Nope’ he smiled, his eyes darting around, to his relief he couldn’t see any hoards of press or fans. ‘Whew’ he breathed.
’What’s the mater?’ lizzie asked, stopping to take in the size of the place and wrapping her arms around his waist.
’Nothing. Well. Usually every time I travel the press and fans are here either welcoming or seeing me off. It feels odd to see an empty airport. Weird but nice’
’Jeez are you ever alone?’ she asked, ‘I mean that must suck. I wonder why they aren’t here’
’Well my work in London isn’t for another few weeks. SO from now until then they have no business knowing where I am, I am off the radar, I am invisible. For a few short weeks in a year I can live like this, keeping my head down and not talking about my next project, that way I am free’
’that’s awful’ Lizzie frowned, ‘So this is your free time and you are burdened with me?’
’No this is my free time I am filling with you, and loving every minute. Baggage check over there’ he steered her forward after kissing her softly on the forehead. After checking in their luggage, Gerard led her upstairs to the VIP area to wait in comfort for their plane. Lizzie accepted a glass of wine from one of the staff, as Gerard sipped his water, and together they stared over the runway.
’I could get used to this’ Lizzie joked, relaxing backwards on the comfy chairs they were seated on.
’I hope so’ he thought, ‘Lizzie there is more to fame than this’ he laughed out loud. ‘I mean, I get free clothes from shops you know’
’Really?’ she giggled her eyes shining. ‘You’re a thief in disguise’
’Pretty much, damn I want a coffee. I will be right back’ he stood up brushing the cookie crumbs off his pants and glaring at Lizzie who had been feeding his chocolate chip an hour or so before. Winking at her he headed to the inside Starbucks, ordering his favourite he let his eyes wander over the newspapers in the shop next to him. Seeing his name, he craned his neck to read the rest of the headline and fell clean over with shock.
’Sir are you ok’ an attendant ran over helping him to his feet. Gerard burned crimson red with shame. ‘I’m fine’ he snapped, ripping the paper from the stand he read over the article once more and his face set in a determined line.
