Kyo opened his eyes, then blinked a few times, his blurred vision slowly clearing. Since when the hell did Paradise look like a hospital? Kyo's eyes darted around and he frowned, realizing he truly was in a hospital. He sighed and closed his eyes, suddenly remembering last night's concert.
"Fuck me..."
"I'd love to, demo...you'll have to wait until you get well, first."
Kyo's eyes opened and he saw Die smiling down at him. He smiled a little, half-heartedly.
"May I?" Die gestured toward a chair beside Kyo's bed. Kyo only shrugged. Die took it as the closest thing to an approval as he was going to get and sat down. Kyo looked at him, then around a little, noticing for the first time all the flowers and balloons and the mountain of cards by him.
"I...this all came over night?"
"Over night? Kyo-san....you've been out for two days. You almost died..."
Kyo stared at Die and frowned. Was this another one of Die-kun's stupid jokes? But with one mere glance into Die's face, Kyo immediately knew it wasn't.
"Oi...I'm fine. I'm fine! Really...Look." Kyo sat up a little, but he definitely wasn't fine and he slowly laid back down. His body felt heavy and shaky and weak. It wasn't the worst he'd ever felt, but it was damn close. He blinked and slowly looked at his arm and saw a nice, red, stitched cut on it.
"At least it missed your dragon, ne?"
Kyo recognized Die's attempt to make him feel better, but didn't have the heart to play with it. Instead, the most unusual thought had come to him. What would have happened if I died and Shinya never knew I still loved him? The thought stunned Kyo so much that he made a face. Die must've thought it was at him because he laughed.
"Eto, the others want to see you...that okay? You feelin' up to that?"
Kyo just looked at Die, still in some sort of shock and nodded.
Die stood, nodding himself, then paused. "Eto...I mean...everyone."
"It's okay, you can let them all in....if they want to come..."
Die slowly sat back down and pressed his lips together a moment. "Kyo-chan..."
Kyo glared and narrowed his eyes at Die. "Don't fucking call me that."
Die grinned, however and nodded. "I just...want you to know that...anou, I support you and Shinya-kun. I know I've teased him and whatever, but only because he's like my little brother, ne?"
Kyo shrugged a little, sorta taking the last bit as if Die was saying, "I didn't make a play for him, so don't think that." He then frowned and looked up at Die.
"Why didn't you help me out? Why didn't you say anything to Kaoru-sama?"
Die shrugged. "I'm not stupid enough to stand up to him."
Kyo scowled and Die laughed again and gently pat his shoulder.
"I'm just kidding! I did...but he wouldn't listen. He's as hard as stone, Kyo-kun...but maybe, I think maybe he...realized just exactly what it is that he did to you...don't blow it, okay?"
"Nan--" But before he could finished, Die went over and let in Toshiya, Shinya and Kaoru.
Toshiya quickly came over and smiled at Kyo and gave him a careful hug.
"How're you feeling, ne? You gave us a bit of a scare..."
Kyo shifted a little, his finger tracing the blanket. "I'm alright, I guess..."
"That was quite a way to try and kill yourself, Kyo-kun."
Kyo stared at Karou. "I didn't try and fucking kill myself!!"
Toshiya and Shinya both frowned at Kaoru. Kaoru sighed and looked down. "Just checking..."
Shinya stayed at the back of the room, not feeling comfortable enough to be near Kyo, but not able to let Kyo think he didn't care enough to come see him.
"Just rest and get back on your feet again soon, ne?" Kaoru gave Kyo a sharp nod.
Kyo, really relieved at Kaoru's more kind words, nodded a little and relaxed against the bed a little. He suddenly realized how tired he'd gotten, just by talking and getting aggitated. He wouldn't let himself look at Shinya, however, afraid of what it might do to him. Kyo turned his head and yawned, unable to cover his mouth. Toshiya reached over and patted Kyo's leg.
"He needs some rest, let's go."
"Nn, hai." Kaoru and Toshiya both stood from their chairs and Kyo closed his eyes. He heard the footsteps and heard the sound of the door close. He sighed and let himself be pulled under by sleep. And it wasn't until then that Shinya came over and sat beside Kyo, sitting on the edge of the chair.
"Kyo-san...?" Shinya whispered, but Kyo was sleeping deeply. Shinya relaxed and gently laced his fingers in through Kyo's and held his hand.
"Kyo-san...onegai...don't ever do that to me again!" He whispered his scold, sounding more like an angry housewife than a scorned lover. "What ever would I do if I never told you again that I love you...? What...wh-what would I do if I never saw you smile, or never saw you run your fingers through your hair or watched the way your nose crinkles up when you concentrate really, really hard...Toshiya-san and Die-san both told me how mean Kaoru-sama was to you. I was never able to tell you to your face that..th-that I knew because I didn't want you to hate me more than you already do, ne? I...I know I'm a coward; not as brave as you and Kaoru-sama. Gomen nasai..." Shinya bit his bottom lip and used his free hand to gently push some hair from Kyo's forehead, then smoothed his hair gently. Kyo shifted a little and turned his head toward Shinya.
"Eto...I..I just wanted to say that...ano...if you don't get better, I'll kill you!.......Or at least I'll hire someone to, ne?" Shinya laughed softly, though his laugh quickly turned into soft sobbing. He gave Kyo's hand a loving squeeze, then gently put it down.
"I'm glad the angels didn't take you because...you're my angel and I'm going to be selfish and keep you to myself for as long as I can. Okay? If...if that's a problem well, w-well too bad then. I love you, Kyo-san...I...I hope you rest well." Shinya leaned close and gently kissed Kyo's cheek. He then stood and quickly walked toward the door. Before he left, he took a small glance back at Kyo and was certain there was a smile on his lips before he left.
