Something Unexpected

Special thanks: Dude, awesome reviews. @_@ I still can't believe it! n_n Thank you guys so very, very, VERY much! And actually, originally I wasn't gonna keep Shinya-san and Kyo-san together buuuuut...I saw the light *Heavenly music* aaaand I wanted to keep them together and, amazingly, I figured out how to do it that...heh..actually seemed semi-plausible. ^_^ I'm so, SO glad you guys are loving this...I wish this wasn't my last chapter, but I've really got nothing else to write about. You'll see what I mean after the chapter. ^_^ Eto, that's also kinda why it's so short. ;_; Gomen nasai! I'll push it as far as I can. XD But go on and finish!!

Kyo paced behind stage, praying that Kaoru fell for his and Shinya's little masquerade of hate. They'd acted like they weren't together still, upon Kyo's instructions. It hurt Shinya, but Kyo promised to make it up to him. Kyo was more nervous tonight than he'd ever been. He snuffed out his cigarette as everyone came over to do their hands-in. Kyo looked at them all, knowing that tonight would be Dir en grey's ultimate sink-or-swim time. Kyo's stomach twisted, wondering if he could really go through with what he'd planned. He'd tried to convince himself that what he was about to do was okay, that he wasn't destroying the lives of four other people and himself. Maybe it was selfish, but it couldn't be that selfish as he was doing this for Shinya too.
"Kyo-kun. Lead us..." Kyo looked up at Kaoru. It'd been the nicest thing he'd said to him in a while and it almost made Kyo cringe.
"Hai." He lead them in the hands down and watched as his bandmates, his friends and his lover, go out onto the dark stage for the most memorable live ever.

It was the small span of time between their second-to-last and last song. Kyo was shaking like a leaf in the fall, but no one seemed to notice. They were about to start their song, when Kyo held up his hand, signaling for them to stop. The crowd started to scream, both confused and excited by the gesture. Kyo stood before the mic and addressed them.
"Eto...gomen nasai--"
They shrieked.
"Demo, I need to say something."
Kaoru, Toshiya and Die were all staring. Shinya wasn't, instead he had his head down. He wasn't sure if he was more willing to kiss or kill Kyo. Was he really going to do this right now? So soon...?
The crowed just continued to shriek and scream, waiting for Kyo to put them out of their confused misery.
"Nearly a year and a half ago, someone changed my life forever. I never thought it would be possible, but I grew to love this person."
Kaoru started toward Kyo, but Die quickly stopped him.
"I've been told what I was doing was stupid--seeing this other person. Demo, it wasn't stupid, and I'm so sorry that others had convinced me otherwise. I hurt this...person that I loved so much..."
The crowd started to quiet down as Kyo's voice cracked with emotion.
"And he never deserved such horrible pain..."
The crowd heard the word he and began to scream again, but several "Shhhh!" also echoed through the hall and everyone got quiet again.
"To make up for my foolishness, I want to confess my love to him, in front of everyone and say that, no matter what happens, I will forever love him with all of my heart...And I ask that you all understand..."
Kaoru was sweating and he tried to get past Die, but Die held him close and Toshiya came to help by putting his arm around Kaoru.
"I just have one...favor to ask of him. Could he please come and join me, onegai shimas?" Kyo didn't look back, however, not making any signs about whom he was speaking of. He started to get nervous, though, as he heard no footsteps. He closed his eyes, thinking he'd just made the biggest mistake of his life, when he felt two familiar, strong arms encircle him. He looked into Shinya's face and smiled. He took his face and kissed him in front of the entire audience.
A moments hesitation, due to pure shock, and then everyone began to scream and cheer.
Kyo smiled into the kiss and Shinya gently pulled back, smiling too. Kyo nodded once and Shinya went back to his drums. As if it'd been planned, Die let go of Kaoru and prepared to play their last song, as did Toshiya, tears of happiness rolling down his cheeks. Karou was choiceless, but to start playing their last song.
Kyo had never done a better job during their last song. He got so into it that even Kaoru was impressed and they ended their night fantastically.

"Amazing job, Kyo-san!"
"Seriously! When the hell did you learn to sing like that?"
All of them laughed. All of them but Kaoru. No one had seen him since after the live. Kyo was scared, but he couldn't even let it ruin the mood he was in. He'd done it. The whole world would know he was in love with Shinya before too long, most of his bandmates were supportive and they didn't get booed off stage. Kyo went over to Shinya and hugged him tightly.
"I think we did it..." Shinya ran his hand down Kyo's back gently, petting him.
"That was so brave, Kyo-kun."
Kyo pulled back and grinned at Shinya, so much his nose crinkled. Shinya laughed and went to kiss him, but stopped, looking over and behind Kyo. Kyo turned and saw Kaoru standing there and he immediately felt ice-cold. Kyo stood up to Kaoru with a defiant look, but he was terrified on the inside.
Kaoru slowly walked toward he and Shinya, a look none too friendly on his face.
"Kaoru-sama--"
Kaoru held up his hand and Kyo fell silent.
"I just want to say to you that if you ever have an accident or ever get sick again...well..."
Kyo stared, feeling like he was about to get sick, thinking Kaoru was about to say something incredibly evil.
"Next time you're going to have to pay your own damn bill..."
Kyo blinked, then laughed along with everyone else. Kaoru smiled and hugged Kyo. Kaoru heard Kyo sniffle softly and pat him on the back.
"I owe you an apology, Kyo-san..."
"Iie, iie. Believe it or not, I wasn't lying when I said I believed that you had everyone's intentions in mine..." Kyo looked at everyone and sighed. "If we fail because of this..." He looked down. "I'll understand if everyone hates me."
"Don't be stupid, Kyo-kun. Do you know how many fangirls and...well, probably fanboys wet themselves with joy to hear that?"
Everyone laughed again, Kyo hadn't been this happy in a long, long time. They went out and celebrated that night. They celebrated well into the next morning. At nearly 5AM, everyone went back to the bus.
Shinya got onto the bus and saw Kyo already sitting there, almost asleep. He went over and sat beside him and gently laid down with his head in Kyo's lap. He closed his eyes and smiled when he felt Kyo gently stroking his side. The two of them fell into sleep more peaceful and blissful than ever. Kyo knew in his hear that, even if Dir en grey was no more, he always had Shinya.
And that was worth every sacrifice.
