Something Unexpected

Okay, I pushed it like I said I would. ^_^ I've added a small, short epilogue so no one was left to take the story and interpret the ending how they saw fit--by either saying Dir en grey fell apart or held together. Hai, NO INTERPRETATION FOR YOU!! XD Just kidding. ^_^ I just had this planned, so...no killing me, okay? XP

Kyo sat at home the next morning, sipping tea. Shinya was still in the bedroom, sleeping and looking angelic. Kyo didn't have the heart to wake him, so he turned on the television.
"--Singer Kyo and drummer Shinya of Dir en grey have announced their love--"
Kyo spit his tea out and dropped the cup. He stared, his heart hammering. Damn that news works fast...
"--Live witnesses said there was a kiss after this strange confession. We have some witnesses reporting the incident..."
Kyo watched, tears in his eyes as most--though not all, of course--wished them both the best and the most happiness. He stared at the TV a long time, unable to believe the support that most of their fans had given him. He jumped, startled by the phone as it rang and shook him from his thoughts. He grabbed it.
"Moshi moshi."
"Kyo-san? It's Kaoru-kun."
Kyo felt a flutter of panic. Had Kaoru seen the TV? Was he about to take back his blessing?
"Hai."
"The fans are going crazy. A few of them are horrified, but you wouldn't believe the incredible amount of love and support you guys are getting."
Kyo grinned into the phone and damn near squealed with delight. After he'd hung up with Kaoru, he quickly went to Shinya and gently shook him awake.
Shinya opened his sleepy eyes and rubbed them.
"Nanda, koi-chan?" he asked softly and started to sit up. Kyo threw his arms around Shinya and Shinya fell back onto the bed. "Oof!!"
"We did it! Everything's going to be okay. It's alright. Some of the fans aren't crazy about it, but most of them think it's great! They're okay with it, Shin-Shin. We're not going to have to stop making music after all!"
Shinya looked into Kyo's smiling face and felt his eyes began to sting with tears of happiness.
"Really...?"
Kyo laughed. "Hai!" They hugged each other tight and neither of them let go for a long time. They had their site put up a statement, thanking their fans for their support. They did interviews and thanked them all again, not being afraid to show their affection for each other. They held hands, kissed each other's cheek and smiled and laughed together.
It was one day, long after they'd been together again, that Kyo sat with Shinya in a park, watching kids play. He turned to the beautiful man, smiling. Shinya looked down at him and smiled.
"Nanda?"
"It's just...I guess this is what a happy ending means."
Shinya kissed Kyo's nose and smiled.
"I couldn't think of a better way to put it myself."
Kyo put his arm around Shinya and they cuddled together on the bench, watching the kids, knowing that they would live happily ever after.
