Ch 2
Kelly stood outside the door to Carrie’s apartment as she debated with herself. Carrie left the door unlocked before practices, in case someone was carrying something heavy and couldn’t knock, so it wasn’t a question of whether she could open the door. The real reason she stood outside was that she was early for practice, but not really, because she came over before practices usually. Kelly bit her lip and put her hands in her pockets. She wanted to go in; she had rushed back to her place after work and changed so she could be sure that the other members of the band wouldn’t be around. The only thing stopping her was her thoughts.
She had spent the weekend coming to terms with the changes in their relationship, which had been easily enough dealt with the first day. Carrie had called her on Sunday, just to talk, and like the morning before, they had conversed, flirted, only at a more honest level. She hadn’t hesitated to call Carrie “adorably wrong” when the other girl had said The Clash was better than Aerosmith. It was one of the other subjects during their call that had unsettled her. Carrie had brought up the missing necklace, and Kelly had started to reassure her friend that the necklace wasn’t lost, when Carrie had said she looked in the bedroom and couldn’t find it.
Kelly opened the door to the apartment and silently entered the dwelling because she couldn’t stand outside forever. That one sentence of Carrie’s during their phone conversation had made her think. Why did Carrie search the bedroom first? The blonde has said that she had grabbed some pajamas from the room but had slept on the couch. After thinking about the situation longer than she probably should have, Kelly had reasoned with herself that it was possible that Carrie had taken the necklace off while grabbing some clothes. The matter done with, she had gone back to enjoying the rest of her weekend off. Kelly forgot her thoughts for a moment when she noticed Carrie’s position. She smiled as she tried not to laugh.
The taller girl was on the floor and half hidden by the drum set, and Kelly thought it was cute. “You know you don’t have to sleep next to your drums. I know you love them and all, but that’s just ridiculous, Underwood.” Kelly laughed at the speed with which Carrie got up from the floor.
Carrie smoothed out her t-shirt and then dusted off her jeans as she eyed Kelly. “I was looking for my necklace, Clarkson.” She sighed and walked over to the other girl now that Kelly wasn’t laughing. “I’ve searched this entire place and it’s not here. If it’s not in my car I might seriously cry.”
Kelly saw the slight pout on Carrie’s face, so she hugged the blonde. She was a hugger, and it had been extremely difficult to keep down on the number of hugs between them before Friday night. She was ecstatic that she didn’t have to curb the urges any longer. “It’s not in your car.” Kelly giggled when Carrie pulled back. “Check my right pocket.”
Carrie stared at Kelly in confusion for a moment. She wanted to ask why Kelly was still holding her, and why she had to reach into Kelly’s pockets. Actually, she thought she knew why, because Kelly didn’t want to let go, but the simply stated words were not what she had expected. Carrie cautiously let her hand slide around Kelly’s hip, and then down into the pocket of Kelly’s capris. “Are you-” Carrie grinned and forgot all about her tease when she felt what had to be her necklace. She quickly pulled the chain out and looked at it for damage. “Where did you find it?”
Kelly took a step back and watched as Carrie unclasped the necklace and put it back on. Any enjoyment she had felt when Carrie’s hand brushed along her hip had vanished with the question. It was the same one that had bothered her Sunday night; it still bothered her. She had forgotten about the incident until she had been on the phone with her sister. Kelly thought she hadn’t grabbed anything near the table in Carrie’s bedroom, but she had been panicking, so maybe she had and just didn’t remember. “It was in one of my pockets.”
Carrie had to laugh a little, she had been slowly driving herself crazy searching for the chain, and Kelly had it the entire time. “Thanks for finding it.” She was so happy to have her chain back that she wanted to kiss Kelly, but she didn’t. “So, uh, it was in your pocket?” Carrie walked away and sat down on the couch. She needed something else to think about since her current thoughts involved the memories of her and Kelly kissing in the bar after their friends had left. Carrie didn’t know if Kelly remembered, but she thought her friend did and just hadn’t said.
“Yeah.” Kelly cleared her throat and briefly looked down at her shoes. “When you, umm, when you saw me getting my clothes together?” Kelly joined Carrie on the couch when the other girl shyly looked away from her. It was nice to see Carrie was just as effected by whatever change was going on in their relationship. “I was kind of,” She tried to think of a good way to phrase that she had been scared out of her mind.
“You pretty much freaked out, but that’s okay. I mean you didn’t remember getting here, it’s cool.” Carrie smiled softly at Kelly. She had thought about going back to her bedroom that night, so Kelly wouldn’t wake up alone, but she hadn’t trusted herself. Carrie knew that she had made the right decision. She did not want to think about how Kelly would have continued to freak out if she hadn’t been able to convince Kelly that they hadn’t slept together.
“I wasn’t that bad!” Kelly laughed as she reached out and gently tapped Carrie’s knee for the comment. “I was… surprised. You probably took it off when you grabbed some clothes. I must have accidentally grabbed it while I was rushing around. ” Kelly still thought it was strange for Carrie to take the necklace off in the bedroom since the girl had slept on the couch.
Carrie started to laugh, however Kelly’s explanation made her pause. She forced herself to chuckle. “Forget about it, I’m just glad I have it back.” Carrie stood up and walked over to her drums so Kelly didn’t see her frown. She needed to change the subject before Kelly asked why she had taken the necklace off in the room. Carrie grabbed her drumsticks and rolled them in her hand as she thought. “Do you want something to drink or eat? Didn’t you work today?”
Kelly didn’t know what to think of Carrie moving away. Maybe she was just projecting because of the question in her mind. “I did work. Mr. Pompous was back again.” She stood up and headed for the kitchen as she continued her story. Carrie didn’t really ask if anyone wanted anything, it was understood that the band could have whatever they wanted to eat or drink. Kelly thought that maybe Carrie was thirsty, so she would get them a drink.
Carrie left her drumsticks behind and followed Kelly to the kitchen, even though she could have heard the story from the living room. She had a hard time waiting until the end of the story to laugh. “If I ever run into that man, I am so going to have to let him know a few hard truths about his taste in music.” Carrie grinned when Kelly quit pouring drinks and turned around to give her a silly look. “I bet he couldn’t even name two members from one of his so-called favorite bands.”
“Not everyone can name all the members of their favorite bands like you can.” Kelly knew she shouldn’t mess with Carrie, but the slightly outraged look on Carrie’s face was worth it to her. She turned back to their drinks. Kelly had a good comeback, but before she could tease the blonde again she felt Carrie move closer behind her. She set down the carton so she wouldn’t drop it. “Carrie?” She wasn’t sure what to do when Carrie hugged her.
“Aww, am I in your favorite band?” Carrie laughed when Kelly lightly slapped her arm. She tightened her grip and let her chin rest on Kelly’s shoulder. “You know you’re impressed that I can do that.” Carrie didn’t hear Kelly’s reply because she was too busy thinking about kissing the other girl again. “Do you remember what happened at the bar? I know you said you did, but you didn’t say anything about what happened after everyone was gone.”
Kelly thought about how she should answer. She knew if she said that she did remember, Carrie would want to talk about why she hadn’t mentioned it before now. She had wanted Carrie to assume she was fine with what had happened, like with the increased flirting and touching. Kelly turned around and looked at Carrie as she tried to decide. She took a deep breath as she put her arms around the other girl’s waist and nodded.
Carrie looked down. She wasn’t sure what the expression on Kelly’s face meant, and the nod hadn’t been very helpful either. She stared at the small patterns on Kelly’s blouse as she tried to work out for herself what Kelly wanted. “Would you let me kiss you again?” Carrie was taken aback when Kelly kissed her, though a shout from the living room kept her from responding to the kiss. She mentally cursed Robbie for needing help with his amp.
Kelly abruptly let go of Carrie and hoped that Robbie would stay in the living room. She didn’t say a word about Carrie still holding her as the blonde shouted some kind of answer to their friend. She remembered them making out at the bar, the memories were hazy, but she remembered. Kelly had wanted to feel those things again, so she had kissed Carrie. The brief kiss, just a press of her own lips to Carrie’s, seemed more electric than the hotter kisses at the bar.
Carrie took a step back and shyly smiled when she heard Emily and Mike’s voices. Her rational side knew it was imperative for whatever they were doing that she be clear on what Kelly wanted. The other half of her mind wanted to grab the brunette and kiss Kelly this time. If she understood her friend correctly, Kelly hadn’t spoken up about the kisses because Kelly had been undecided when they had talk on Saturday. “Does this mean,” Carrie suggestively leaned forward and spoke in a lower tone so the others couldn’t hear. “I can kiss you whenever I want?”
“I’m not going to your classes and kissing you so you can stay awake.” Kelly would have laughed, but the expression directed at her made her remain silent. She shut her eyes when Carrie slipped a hand around the back of her neck and pulled her close for another brief kiss. She had wanted to leave the decision up to Carrie, so that she wasn’t the one who had to choose. Kelly wished she could have said no, she didn’t know how they were going to keep from becoming involved. She opened her eyes and breathed out a yes as she reassured herself with the look in Carrie’s eyes.
****
Carrie threw away the last of the trash from dinner as she tried not to smile. After practice, they had all decided to hang out and ordered some pizzas. She had particularly enjoyed sitting next to Kelly while they had watched some movie on TV. Once they had finished off the pizza, the rest of the band had left, all except for Kelly. Carrie went back to the living room, back to where Kelly was sitting on the couch. “You gonna stick around a while longer?”
Kelly reached out and took Carrie by the hand so that she could get the blonde to sit down with her. “For a little, yeah.” She had to work in the morning, and she knew Carrie had classes, but she wanted to talk about what Carrie had done after practice. Kelly let her arm rest along the back of the couch when Carrie sat down next to her. “I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings.”
Carrie frowned at the simple statement because she wasn’t sure what Kelly meant. There had been a few awkward moments between Kelly and herself after practice, but that had been because the other members had been with them. “You didn’t hurt my feelings at all tonight. What makes you think so?” Carrie would admit that her nerves had been kinda shot after staring at Kelly for most of the practice, and their kisses earlier, but she had controlled herself.
“I thought I might have when I didn’t hold your hand, after the hug?” Kelly was sure that she had blushed when Carrie had hugged her in front of everyone after practice. She wasn’t angry that the other girl had hugged her or tried to hold her hand. She just hadn’t wanted to explain anything to their friends if she had held hands with Carrie. Kelly knew her actions were cowardly, but she couldn’t lose the band or whatever her relationship with Carrie was becoming.
Carrie looked down at the space between them as she thought about the incident. Kelly not holding her hand was nothing compared to the brunette forgetting Friday night. “Well, you didn’t.” Carrie smiled as she lifted her head and looked at Kelly once again. “I’ll try to not do stuff like that around the guys. I’m sorry if I made you feel embarrassed.”
Kelly bit her lip when Carrie held onto her hand. She didn’t want Carrie to feel sorry, and she didn’t want to have to make the other girl hold back. “I wasn’t, I just wasn’t sure how we could explain away holding hands for too long. I’m sorry about all this with the band.” Kelly knew her excuses were lame, but she hoped Carrie understood how the whole situation was hard on her. “I’ve tried so hard to not do anything because of them, and you, you’ve,”
Carrie didn’t want to listen to the verbal smack down the brunette was giving herself, so she leaned in and kissed Kelly. “I get it, it’s all right.” She brought their joined hands up to her chest and smiled at the slight blush on Kelly’s face. “That had better be because I kissed you.” Carrie chuckled when Kelly gave her an eye roll. “Look at me. I know everything’s messed up, and I know that we both tried to ignore what’s been going on.” Carrie half grinned to try to make Kelly smile. “As long as you don’t shut me out, I don’t care what we tell the rest of the band.”
Kelly was sure that Carrie meant the words, and she did believe the blonde, though it didn’t make the situation any easier. “I’m not gonna shut you out.” She smiled at Carrie and playfully tugged her hand that Carrie was holding. “We just have to be careful. I don’t know how the rest of the band is going to react, and I know it shouldn’t matter because this is between us, but it does.” Kelly took a deep breath and stared at their hands for a moment. “I don’t know when we can tell them about us… are you going to get mad if we don’t say that we’re going out?”
Carrie freed her hand from Kelly’s as she shook her head. “I won’t get mad, I don’t like it, but I’m not going to get angry.” She watched the expressions on Kelly’s face as she let her hand drop down to the brunette’s hip. “I can’t get mad when you’re calling you and me an ‘us’. You didn’t even say that on Saturday, I don’t know what changed exactly, if it was you having the weekend to think about everything, or what, but I don’t care what we call it as long as you think we’re as important as I do.” Carrie barely let her hand rub Kelly’s hip as the other girl smiled at her.
“We are.” Kelly moved so that she could be closer, and her smile brightened when Carrie held onto her hip a bit more firmly. She hadn’t known Carrie was such a tactile person. She wondered what else she would find out about her friend. Kelly looked at Carrie as her thoughts wandered and the silence grew. She wasn’t bothered by the lack of speaking since Carrie was staring back at her with a happy expression. She couldn’t think of how many times they would start staring at each other, only to get embarrassed or interrupted. The feeling was nice.
Carrie didn’t give a damn what Kelly called them if it meant that they could act like they currently were. After all the time they had spent pretending like they weren’t flirting, or that the times they would see each other without the other band members didn’t mean anything, it was worth it because Kelly knew without a doubt that she was being for real. Even though there was a part of her that wanted to tell Kelly what had happened Friday, especially after how Kelly had surprised her by saying there was a ‘them’, she liked being near and holding the other girl just as much.
Kelly wanted to laugh when Carrie grinned all of a sudden for no apparent reason, but she didn’t. She brought her hand up to Carrie’s arm and let it rest there as she watched the blonde for a reaction. Carrie’s grip on her tightened, so Kelly light ran her nails over Carrie’s skin without moving her hand. “I didn’t say anything Saturday because I didn’t know what it all meant. I was freaked out and,” She lightly knocked Carrie’s arm for laughing. “It wasn’t like I was going to say, ‘Hey do you want to go out now that you’ve seen me naked?’ That’s just weird. We hadn’t even kissed for real. I mean obviously we had kissed, but- stop laughing. It’s not funny.”
Carrie couldn’t hold her laughter in, Kelly was just too cute. She braced herself with one hand against the couch as she laughed, and the other she kept on Kelly’s hip, despite the fact that the other girl had hit her arm a little harder for continuing to laugh. “I’m sorry, but you can hear yourself, right?” Carrie slowly stopped laughing when Kelly pretended to be upset, but she could see that Kelly was trying not to laugh. “You’re too cute for your own good.”
Kelly quit pretending to be offended when Carrie mumbled another apology. She wasn’t surprised this time when Carrie kissed her softly, though she did lean away after a kiss. She didn’t want to get caught up in their feelings when they still needed to talk. “Seriously though, it was during practice today.” Kelly smiled when Carrie just looked at her curiously. “I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but while we were playing, I kept thinking about how much we have in common. How long this has all been going on, and you haven’t pushed, not even after-“
Carrie interrupted Kelly because they were starting to become too sentimental. She liked that Kelly was saying nice things, but the other girl’s words were unnecessary. “You changed your mind because I look hot playing my drums, that’s the real truth isn’t it?” Carrie laughed when Kelly lightly hit her side again. She considered gently tapping her hand against the brunette’s hip, but she actually did want to talk with Kelly. “Don’t deny it, Kel.” She quieted down when Kelly pulled her closer and held her around the waist. “What changed your mind during practice?”
Kelly hoped that Carrie hadn’t noticed her first reaction to the tease, because the other girl was half-right. “You finally worked out the end to the song we’ve been considering adding to the set. Like, no one expected it and they all thought it was awesome, but I knew how you had been spending your spare time working it out in-between all of your studies.” Kelly could feel her cheeks heating up, so she looked down. “I was kinda proud. It made me think about all the different kind of things you do and-“
Carrie cut Kelly off with a kiss. She was really starting to like hearing all the things Kelly liked about her. “I knew it was my drumming.” Carrie grinned when Kelly’s blush grew. She brought her hand up from the couch and brushed back some of Kelly’s hair so that she could see the other girl’s face clearly. “I thought you had forgotten all about me working on it.” Carrie had been working on the new ending for a while, and Kelly had heard her trying out different things one day. “You only asked me about it like once.”
”Yeah, well, I liked it, and I knew that you would finish it sooner or later.” Kelly shrugged since Carrie kept trying to stop her from breaking eye contact. “You’re talented and smart. And what’s going on between us hasn’t gone away so…” She looked straight at Carrie and grinned. “I thought why try to pretend there’s not something there, when there really is?”
Carrie nodded a couple times, mostly just to keep the situation light; she didn’t want them to get too serious when it was all so new between them. “I’m really glad you changed your mind.”
”Me too.” Kelly leaned up as she moved one of her hands that was around Carrie back and forth. “Can we keep things simple for a while? I don’t want to do big dates, or stuff like that, we already know our likes and dislikes, you know?”
Carrie knew Kelly had a point, but there was a part of her that did want to take Kelly out. “For a little while, not too long though. I want to take you out. Dates aren’t only to get to know someone, sometimes they’re just fun experiences when you get to show someone how much you like them.” Carrie wanted to say more, however Kelly leaned up and cut her words off with a kiss. She let her hand drop back down to the couch when Kelly pulled her close and mumbled a promise before bringing their lips together once more.
****
Kelly didn’t know how long they had spent kissing and talking to each other, long enough for Carrie to have straddled her. She turned her head away and took a few moments to catch her breath as she moved her hands from Carrie’s thighs to the blonde’s lower back. She had felt the slight tremble in Carrie’s leg muscles because of their positions; and from the look of Carrie’s lips, and the feelings of her own, she knew it had been awhile. Kelly loosened her grasp when she felt Carrie’s cheek rest again her own and heard the blonde’s accelerated breathing. “I should go soon.”
Carrie would have smiled if Kelly hadn’t kissed her again. She had to get some sleep for her classes, but her present enjoyment would more than make up for any tiredness she might suffer. Carrie let go of Kelly’s hips so that she could brace herself against the back of the couch, to take some of the weight off her legs, when Kelly pulled her close again. She wanted to touch Kelly, but her legs were more or less blocking Kelly’s hips if she wanted to kiss the other girl, and she did want to continue to kiss Kelly. Their drunken kisses had nothing on their current simple ones.
Kelly lightly rubbed her hands up and down on the blonde’s back as she mentally went through the list of reasons she needed to leave soon. She wouldn’t call what they were doing making out exactly; their kisses were more sweet, not the headier, fuller, mouth exploring kisses from before. Still, she knew if they continued they would get just as worked up as they would have if they had been making out the entire time. Kelly kissed along Carrie’s jaw, down to her friend’s neck. When Carrie moaned, Kelly momentarily shut her eyes and nipped at the spot she had just brushed her lips across, though she moved on when Carrie moaned again. She didn’t want to tease Carrie.
Carrie held onto the back of the couch as Kelly’s lips returned to her mouth. She loved the way that Kelly was kissing her, but she wanted more. She wanted to let Kelly lead, although she was starting to wonder if that was such a good idea. A hand on her back and some short, though extremely passionate, kisses of their lips moving just against one another, and she was a mess. Carrie wanted to grab Kelly, caress the other girl the way she had the night they weren’t sober, like she allowed Kelly to do now. “I have class.” Carrie swiftly pressed her lips to Kelly’s once her words were out of her mouth. She had to get up before she accidentally took things too far.
Kelly tilted her head back as she stopped touching along Carrie’s back. She didn’t speak as she waited for Carrie to talk again. She was confused. She didn’t know if she should leave, or if she should go on. Carrie had mentioned the classes, so Kelly thought she should get some clarification because if it was up to her… Kelly stared into Carrie’s eyes. She didn’t think Carrie wanted her to leave. As she waited for some kind of telling action on Carrie’s part, Kelly looked at her friend’s lips. They were as swollen as they had felt pressed against her own inflamed ones.
Carrie swallowed when she saw the way Kelly stared at her lips. She wanted to speak up, but just like the nights when she became forgetful of her schoolwork because of a band gig, she forgot her reasons for stopping. Carrie cleared her throat and reminded herself that she couldn’t spend all night kissing Kelly. Unfortunately, Kelly’s eyes met her own again. Carrie let go of the couch when Kelly’s hands moved over her back, and she brought her hands to Kelly’s shoulders. As Kelly’s hand slipped under the back of her shirt, Carrie lowered her head and kissed Kelly.
When their lips touched again, Kelly moaned and pressed forward so that her head wasn’t against the couch. She wanted to have a free range of movement since Carrie didn’t want her to leave yet. She wanted to make the most of whatever time Carrie was willing to give her. Kelly let her hands wander over the smooth skin of Carrie’s back. She had spent an innumerable amount of time thinking about how Carrie would feel and react to her touch, and now she knew. Carrie moaned against her mouth again, and Kelly brought one hand to the base of Carrie’s back, just above the other girl’s pants so she could hold Carrie.
The feelings of Kelly’s hands on her back were enough for Carrie to become a bit more proactive. Carrie was overwhelmed by the sensation of Kelly’s bare hands on her back now that her shirt was no longer between Kelly’s hands and her skin. She let go of Kelly’s shoulders and held onto the couch with one hand while she brought her other hand to Kelly’s side. As the singer’s warm hands pulled her nearer, Carrie skimmed her fingers up Kelly’s side and then delicately drug her nails back down. She knew how Kelly would react, so when the brunette arched forward, she moved her hand to Kelly’s breast and broke away from their kiss.
Kelly started to moan at the feeling of Carrie’s hand softly caressing her breast, but she went silent when she realized Carrie’s lips weren’t on her own any longer. She didn’t understand why Carrie had ended their kiss but had continued to touch her. “It’s just kisses. It’s fine.” Kelly murmured her last words once more when Carrie didn’t immediately join their lips together. She used her hands to bring Carrie back down, and after a moment of hesitation, the blonde relented. Kelly couldn’t think clearly because of Carrie’s gentle ministrations on her sensitive breast, and because how sweet it was for Carrie to check on her, but she thought she had reassured the younger girl well.
Carrie’s drunken memories of how it had felt to have Kelly’s hands on her skin seemed like daydreams compared to how she felt at the moment. The warmth of Kelly’s skin, the confident way that the brunette held her, the sounds of their breathing, it all flooded her senses; made her feel like she was drunk again, but this time everything was vivid. A groan from Kelly forced their lips apart, but Carrie didn’t mind because Kelly’s hand was swiftly at the back of her neck to insure that it wouldn’t happen again. Dimly, Carrie realized she was irritated by the feeling of her necklace blocking even a centimeter of Kelly’s hand. She opened her eyes and pulled her hand from Kelly as she remembered the last time Kelly had touched the back of her neck.
Kelly would have asked why Carrie had stopped, but a loud knock on the door sounded before she could end their kiss. Kelly kissed Carrie harder and rubbed her hands up and down her friend’s back. She didn’t want Carrie to answer the door, she wanted Carrie’s hands and lips back on her. Unfortunately, Carrie pulled away, though the other girl didn’t move far. Kelly wrapped her arms around Carrie’s waist and ignored the person at the door knocking again. “Don’t answer it.”
Carrie sighed as she leaned in and quickly brushed her lips across Kelly’s lips. “Have to.” She got up and nervously straightened her clothing as she mentally thanked whoever was at the door. She didn’t know what would have happened if Kelly had continued to touch her neck. It had made her remember how Kelly had held her while they had been making out in her room. Kelly had been unable to touch her without getting caught up in the chain, so she had removed it; her clothes and Kelly’s had followed shortly after. Another knock at the door made her walk faster. “Hold on!” Carrie glanced back at Kelly to see if her friend was composed enough.
Kelly stayed on the couch as Carrie opened the door, but her eyes widened when she saw it was Robbie at the door. She wished she had thought to tell Carrie to hold on until she could leave the room, though it wasn’t like she had been thinking straight thanks to the other girl. “Stupid Carrie.” Kelly muttered again about how it was Carrie’s fault for almost innately knowing how to touch her how she liked.
Robbie stood just inside the doorway to Carrie’s apartment as he waited for the girl to lock the door. “What took you so long? I’m freaking out here.” Robbie ran a hand through his hair as Carrie moved to stand in front of him. “I didn’t want to say anything during practice, but I,” He looked up to make eye contact with Carrie, so she could see that he didn’t mean to barge into her place, though he quit speaking when he saw Kelly. “I thought everyone was gone?”
Carrie blinked a few times as she tried to think of an explanation as to why Kelly was still with her. It wasn’t her fault her thoughts were still preoccupied with kissing Kelly; and how Kelly might become upset again if the brunette remembered what had happened when they were drunk. She almost wanted to hug the tall, black haired man for interrupting. Her damn necklace had caused enough trouble the last few days. “No.”
Kelly hoped that her face didn’t show her incredulity at Carrie’s response. “I was,” She sighed and got up from the couch as she tried to think. “I was talking. With Carrie.” Kelly nodded a few times as she started to collect her belongings. “There was this super eccentric guy in the shop today and I was just telling her about it.” Kelly didn’t look up until she had found everything and was standing next to Carrie and the guitarist. “It’s dumb though, I can tell her some other time.”
Robbie didn’t speak as Kelly walked past him and unlocked the door. “Yeah.” He looked at Carrie, but she was looking at Kelly. “I can come back another time, I guess. I didn’t mean to interrupt.” Robbie took a step back as Carrie reached out to stop Kelly. He really had to talk to Carrie.
Carrie was relieved when Kelly stopped before opening the door. “You don’t have to go.” She quickly smiled back at Robbie when Kelly turned towards her, however the expression on her friend’s face made her pull her hand back from where she had touched Kelly on the hip. Kelly was shaken. “Stay.” Carrie leaned in as she tried to keep herself from pulling Kelly in for a hug. She didn’t know what she would do if Kelly was about to freak out on her again, but she would rather have Kelly be worried or angry with her, rather than alone. “Kel.”
”No, he should stay.” Kelly opened the door before Carrie tried to stop her again. “I’ll see you guys at practice.” She looked back at Carrie for a second, even though she knew Carrie would be able to convince Robbie about why she had been at the apartment longer that the rest of the band. She couldn’t lie to Robbie very well, or any of the other original band members, but she had tried for Carrie.
****
Kelly spun Carrie around and grabbed onto the taller girl as she stumbled. She hastily pulled Carrie in for another kiss as she tried to keep her balance. It had been difficult for Kelly as they had made their way to Carrie’s bedroom, all she had wanted was to kiss the other girl that had held onto her just as tightly. Kelly moaned into their kiss when she felt Carrie’s hands on her hips, and she quickly brought her hands to the drummer’s back as she tried to get closer to Carrie.
She carelessly moved her hands under the material of Carrie’s shirt because she wanted to feel more of Carrie’s skin. Kelly enthusiastically ran her hands all over Carrie’s back, though she lost her balance and accidentally fell forward. Kelly laughed as they stumbled back a few feet and Carrie still tried to kiss her. She held onto Carrie as she angled her head back so that the blonde couldn’t kiss her. “We gotta get to the bed.”
”The bed. Right.”
Kelly giggled at Carrie’s distracted words, although she stopped when Carrie pushed her in the direction of the bed. She managed to keep her balance from the light push, and before she could say a word, Carrie’s arms were on her hips once again. She wrapped her arms around Carrie’s shoulders and kissed the other girl as Carrie’s hands roamed over her hips and sides. Kelly couldn’t be happier that they had all drank tonight, especially when Carrie kissed her so deeply.
She parted her lips for Carrie, and then she swept her tongue against Carrie’s. Kelly clutched Carrie’s shoulder in one of her hands as she moved her other up to the blonde’s neck. She didn’t want Carrie to pull away. She tried to caress the back of Carrie’s neck, but her fingers became tangled in the chain of Carrie’s necklace. Kelly freed her fingers and started to touch the soft skin at the back of her friend’s neck again, only to end up with the same result as before.
Kelly pouted and tried to free her fingers from the chain. Just as she began to think that she would never get her fingers untangled, she finally succeeded and stole a quick kiss as she stepped back. Kelly swallowed a few times as Carrie looked at her without moving. She started to laugh at the confused expression on the drummer’s face, but a quick kiss from Carrie silenced her. “Get them off.” Kelly gruffly repeated her words as she tried to pull up her shirt.
She started to curse at her shirt while she struggled to remove the article of clothing. She thought she heard Carrie laughing at her, though she didn’t look in the other girl’s direction. Kelly stared down at her shirt and frowned. “Stupid buttons.” She concentrated on getting her shirt undone, so when she got it undone, she quickly tried to throw the piece of clothing away. Kelly could feel herself fall to her left, and she quickly dropped the shirt and tried to get her balance back.
By the time she finally had all of her clothes off, Kelly couldn’t wait any longer to get over to the bed so that she could go back to touching and kissing Carrie. Kelly didn’t want to waste any time, she had liked Carrie for so long, she seriously thought something bad would happen if she had to wait a minute longer. Kelly momentarily frowned when she saw that Carrie still had clothes on, although the blonde looked so cute struggling, she couldn’t stop staring at her friend’s body.
Kelly wasn’t sure how or when they started kissing again, and she really couldn’t explain how they had gotten onto the bed. One minute Carrie had started to kiss her, and the next the blonde was on top of her. Kelly feverishly explored Carrie’s mouth as the younger girl touched her stomach. She moaned as Carrie’s hands softly, but in a rushed manner, moved along her body, which caused Kelly to bring her hands up to Carrie’s hair and take control of their kiss.
She let her fingers brush across the back of Carrie’s neck, and she briefly smiled into their kiss when Carrie grabbed her and pushed down against her. Kelly moved her lips to Carrie’s jaw and kissed the skin there while Carrie went back to stroking her stomach and sides. She moaned when she felt Carrie’s nails lightly drag down on her sides, and when Carrie repeated the movement, she couldn’t refrain from clutching the blonde’s back and saying her friend’s name.
”You liked that?”
Kelly nodded her head to Carrie’s slurred question because she was much more focused on the sensations Carrie’s hands caused. She rubbed her hands along Carrie’s back and kissed at Carrie’s jaw to the best of her ability while she arched up against the younger girl. Kelly nipped and kissed at as much of Carrie’s neck as she could since the blonde was on top of her, she wanted to give Carrie back just as much as Carrie made her feel.
She groaned when Carrie’s hand teased her again before covering her breast. Kelly arched into Carrie’s touch and grabbed the drummer’s ass. She stupidly cursed at the piece of clothing blocking her from Carrie’s skin, but she wouldn’t let go now. She brushed her hands along Carrie’s back and boxers while she took the time to catch her breath. It took Kelly a minute to gather enough of her wits that she started to kiss along Carrie’s neck again.
”If I had known that was all I had to do, I wouldn’t have drank so much.”
Kelly would have laughed along with Carrie, but the other girl’s hand was still teasing her breast. Carrie’s slurred words and laughter made Kelly pull down on her friend’s hips. She brought their lips together in a rough kiss as Carrie laid down on her fully. Kelly missed Carrie’s attentions to her chest and stomach, but she loved the way it felt to have Carrie’s body against her own. She wasn’t sure how long they spent making out, just that Carrie did not like to give up controlling their kisses without a little incentive, so she disappointedly groaned when Carrie moved off of her.
Kelly tried to pull down on Carrie’s shoulders, but she got distracted with the blonde’s arms. She traced a finger along Carrie’s arm muscles as they flexed, she let herself forget about how she wanted Carrie back on her as she lost herself in touching both of her friend’s upper arms.
”Kel, stop. Don’t distract me.”
The murmured words stole her attention, and Kelly realized that Carrie had pulled away to take off the rest of the clothing. “Don’t care, I want you-“ Kelly was surprised when Carrie cut her off with a kiss. She quickly forgot her surprised feelings when she realized that Carrie was pressed against her again. She didn’t bother to keep her hands to herself. Kelly brushed her hands over Carrie’s heated skin as the younger girl deepened their kiss.
Kelly blinked a few times because of the disturbing sound that had woken her up from her dream, and then she glared at her alarm clock when she realized it was the reason that she hadn’t been able to finish the dream. Kelly sat up and grumpily hit the alarm until she turned the device off. She took a deep breath and thought about tossing her alarm in the trash, but in the end, she smiled as she remembered her dream. It was a little strange for one of her dreams about Carrie, but that didn’t mean that it was a bad dream. Kelly chuckled and got out of bed.
Kelly went through her morning preparations to get ready, though the dream did come to her mind a couple of times and messed up her routine. She wouldn’t let some spilt coffee ruin her day, so when she stepped out of the shower, completely awake thanks to the water and her coffee, Kelly had a smile on her face and couldn’t wait to get to work. Not even Mr. Pompous, as Carrie had dubbed him, could make her day go badly. She and Carrie had decided some important matters in their relationship the night before, and they had shared their first sober kisses.
While she looked at her reflection in the mirror and tried to decide how she would fix her hair, she thought about the dream again, except this time she remembered a specific part. Kelly let her hair escape from the ponytail she had begun to pull it into as she stared at her neck. Carrie hadn’t had the necklace on once they had gotten on the bed during the dream. She could remember touching the back of Carrie’s neck without any problems. Kelly turned away from the mirror and tightened the towel around her body as she walked back to her room.
She told herself that she had just subconsciously added the detail to the dream; it was more than plausible her mind had tried to create an explanation since she had questioned how she had ended up with Carrie’s chain. Kelly vainly tried to ignore her thoughts while she picked out the clothes she wanted to wear, but her mind wouldn’t stop thinking about the strange occurrence. She didn’t dream about drinking and then having sex with Carrie.
Kelly hurriedly dressed as her brain worked out all the unanswered questions. The dream should have gone differently. Carrie would have said more, and they wouldn’t have been drunk. Her reactions, and her inability to remember how they had got to Carrie’s and how they had just ended up on the bed, had been choppy, as if she had been drunk and not aware of everything going on around her because of the alcohol in her system. “It wasn’t a dream.”
Kelly rushed out of her room and grabbed her keys. Carrie must have dropped the chain when they had undressed, and she had been too busy removing her own clothes, and too drunk, to realize that Carrie had even taken the piece of jewelry off. It was the only possible way she could have picked up Carrie’s necklace the next day. Kelly left her place and slammed the front door as she thought about how Carrie had lied to her. She had taken Carrie at the other girl’s word. They had slept together. Kelly got into her car as fast as she could before she lost her courage, or started to cry because of her drunken memories. She was angry that Carrie had lied, but she didn’t want to believe it; she had liked Carrie for far too long for the truth not to hurt her.
