The Secrets Between us

As they both walked into the main part of the bus they found Kelly's mother sitting waiting for them at the small round table in the middle of the bus. Jeanne watched both girls walk towards her hands held, faces pale.



"sit girls......this wont take long."both girls sat next to each other huddled together hoping to find some comfort in each other.



"I know you must be shock but....."



"No no Carrie this my turn to talk.... you and Kelly will have a chance after."



"okay"Kelly squeezed Carrie's hand under the table,she had never heard her mother sound so calm before she didn't know if it was a good thing or bad thing.



"This afternoon i was sitting happily in a nice back garden sharing some laughs with a few friends when i get a call from my rather angry son telling me that my daughter.... my youngest was doing something rather wrong.......now at first i thought your brother was doing one of his weird jokes but as i can see its true...."



"jas called you..........god he's such a...."



"hey..... i just told Carrie it was my turn to talk so be quiet.........."Jeanne sat back watching the two young singers watching their body language how they were huddled together. she could see Carrie was upset and all Kelly wanted to do was comfort the young blonde."so you've been sleeping with miss Underwood.......lying to us all....dating a woman."Kelly nodded her head her mother was focusing all her attention on her leaving Carrie out of it, Kelly was thankful for that."How long?"



"a few years now.....well we broke up a few month's ago and got back together this week."



"ah...makes sense.......you've been a nightmare these past month's......i knew it was something to do with love........i just thought it was a man......silly me."Jeanne let out a little laugh watching both girls look oddly at her."So does this mean im not getting grandkids from you missy."



"Mom why aren't you screaming at me and threating Carrie.....why are you so calm.....you should hate me."



"Oh Kelly......Carrie i am sorry that my daughter has painted this image of me as a evil witch.....she really can be so dramatic."Carrie showed Jeanne a little smile before turning to see a shocked Kelly looking at her mother with her mouth open.



"im sorry mom but i knew you would never approve of this.........you freaked when you heard i was dating a singer before.....i really didn't think you would be any happier with me dating a female singer.......and why are you so calm....please mom just shout at me don't put on this act that your fine...."



"Kelly im far from fine about this....... you think i want this for you ....you think this is easy for me...its nothing ive ever known before......i want you to have the life your sister has.....great husband beautiful kids a happy home but really if i was to scream and shout at you would you really give up your relationship with Carrie."



"no.....but i don't want you being nice and fake......i just........."



"listen young lady you will not make me out the bad person here........your my daughter i will love you no matter what you do or who you love........your life has never gone the way i dreamed all those years ago when i would hold you in my arms at night......you think i wanted to share you with the world.......Your mine.......but what ive come to realise these past years is that you might be mine but you can be others too and if you want Carrie to have you too im sure i can share with her...........but you need to be so sure about this Kelly so sure this is real......if you want the world to find out about this you have to be in love......are you in love."



"Yea mom i am.....so much it feels so strong."Jeanne stood up pulled Kelly up with her wrapping her arms around her child's body.



"well baby im happy for you...... i really am..... its hard to find love so hold onto it."Kelly let go of her mother sitting back down next to a very silent carrie. she had sat amazed at Jeanne's speech hoping that one day she would hear those words from her own mother but knowing that it was unlikely her mother would react like Jeanne had.



"God mom i was so scared when i heard your voice behind the bedroom door...... i really thought you were going to kill us."



"there she is again Carrie with the dramatic nature....... i have no idea where she gets it from........Now miss Underwood i would like to speak to you.....alone......Kelly go get Carrie's shoes im taking her to dinner......and don't give me that look ill bring her back in one piece."



"Your moms right Kel ill be fine......."



"if you must but if you need me for anything at all just call me and ill be there in a heart beat..........dont be afraid to..."



"ok ok Kelly and she wont talk to strangers she'll hold my hand when we cross the street and ill make sure she eats all her veg......."Carrie laughed along with Jeanne as Kelly stuck her tongue out walking back to the room to get Carrie's shoes. Carrie was beginning to see where Kelly got her fun personality from, Jeanne was a lot less intense that what Kelly had described her. It made her sad to think that they could have told her sooner and been a lot more open around people.



"here's your shoes."Carrie slipped them on her feet standing up again looking at Kelly. Kelly looked back at her before looking at her mom. a silence fell on them.



"oh for god sake just kiss her Carrie we will be here all night."Carrie smiled at Jeanne before leaning in stealing a small kiss from Kelly before following Jeanne outside. Kelly stood at the bus door watching the two most important woman in her life walk away,she hoped Carrie survived her mothers questions.
