The Secrets Between us

Kelly sat on the couch holding her baby niece in her arms,she had been sitting with her all morning refusing to let her lay down. She had told everyone who asked that she had missed the baby to much and wanted to spend as much time as possible with her before she had to leave again,that was only part of the truth. she also wanted to know what it felt like, sure she had held kids before but she had never really thought about it. Never thought about how their little head felt on her arm or how heavy their little butts really were under your hand. She looked down at the sleeping girl wondering what Carrie's baby would look like,would it have Carrie's blonde hair and beautiful eyes or would it look like him. Kelly didn't even know his name she couldn't even remember what he looked like, it was all a blur to her.



"Kelly?" Looking up Kelly found her sister standing at the door."someone's here for Carrie"Giving her sister an odd look."its her parents."



"what...... why are they here....."



"I don't know but its really not nice keeping them at the door.....should I let them in...."



"yeah...OK."Kelly stood still holding her niece she knew she should put the baby down but she really wanted the protection the baby was giving her at this moment. Carrie's father entered first nodding at Kelly before moving aside to let Carrie's mother in too.



"where's my daughter?"OK Kelly thought there was no time for pleasant hellos, it was obvious they knew what was going on. Kelly looked to her mother who had just walked into the room.



"Mr Mrs Underwood...if we could just sit down and talk I think......"



"no....we aren't here to talk to you miss Clarkson.......im here to get my daughter then we are leaving......now were is she......Carrie!.........Carrie!"Carries mother left the living room shouting for her daughter in the hall. Mr Underwood had yet to move. He had been staring at Kelly from the moment they had entered, Kelly knew the man was having a hard time dealing.



"Mrs Underwood please don't upset Carrie she really doesn't need this right now....if you would just."



"Kelly excuse me but I believe I know my daughter a little better than you do......what she needs is to leave this place and get far away from you people."



"excuse me.......don't you come in my house talking to my daughter like that..... this is not why I called you......I called so we could help the girls get by this."



"and what has your daughter got to do with my daughter being pregnant......it really doesn't concern her."The rest of Kelly's family had all gathered around Kelly when the shouting began and were now standing shocked face hearing the news that Carrie was pregnant.



"My daughter and your daughter happen to be in a relationship..... I believe Kelly has a part in Carrie's life.....so this baby concerns her too."Jeanne answered sharply.



"well not any more.....once I get my daughter we are leaving and your daughter can forget all about the baby......now where is my daughter."Kelly knew there was no point fighting her any more,handing her niece to her mother she walked into the hall to the bottom of the stairs."follow me." Carrie had been woken twice more by being sick in the middle of the night so Kelly thought I would be better to let the young blonde wake up on her own. Kelly entered the room first seeing that the blonde was still asleep. she let both Carrie's parents in before closing the door. all three of them stood by the bed all looking at Carrie.



"maybe we should let Kelly wake her."It was the first time she had heard Carrie's father talk.



"no.......Carrie wake up."Kelly was really beginning to hate Carrie's mom.



"please Mrs Underwood don't shout at her......she's had a hard time last night."



"Kel....."Carrie sleepily moved around the bed trying to find Kelly.



"yeah baby I'm right here......."Kelly wanted to smack the disgusted look off of Carrie's mothers face when she said the word baby. Opening her eyes to follow Kelly's voice she was shocked to see her parents standing next to her.



"Kel am I dreaming....."Carrie's father let out a large laugh before being nudged by his wife.



"Get up Carrie.....we're leaving..........come on....we have a lot to talk about........"



"where am I going.....Kelly?"



"never mind Kelly......she's the problem here now get up young lady."



"I told you not to shout at her....OK?"



"I can talk to her any way I want to miss Clarkson.........Carrie I wont say it again get up"Carrie moved to get out of bed but was stopped by Kelly.



"she wont ...OK.....listen if you didn't come here to talk things out like adults maybe you both should leave......."



"not without my daughter"



"well she's not going with you like this OK......she doesn't need this stress....its not good for the baby."



"and you think you are good for the baby......you think bringing a baby into this relationship is a good thing......"



"that's between me and Carrie and no one else."



"and what about the babies father........maybe he wouldn't want some lesbian raising his child."



"MOM!.........Don't talk to Kelly that way."



"you will shut up Carrie......you really have no room to talk here.......you've messed up everything.......pregnant with no husband."



"I have Kelly."Carrie regretted saying that the minute it left her lips,she really didn't know if she had Kelly or not.



"Carrie what will people think......this is wrong.........please just get dressed and get in the car with me and your father,we can get up home and call Clive....he will know what to do."



"No........Clive has nothing to do with this mom......this is my baby OK.......now im sorry you feel I've messed up but this is my life......if I want to have this baby no one and I mean no one can stop me OK...."Carrie was now out of bed and standing in front of her mother,she had never really talked to her mother like that before it shocked her that she had the strength to do it.



"you silly silly child.........you will regret this......just wait till miss Clarkson here gets bored with you and your bastard child......"



"Get out...."everyone turned to see Jeanne behind them."get out my house now.......go on before I throw you out both of you."



"Jeanne its OK."



"no Carrie its not OK I will not let this woman talk to you or my daughter this way.....I don't care if she's your mother or not......now I wont say it again. get out."



"fine....if that's what everyone wants.....she's your problem now Kelly...... my family will have nothing to do any of this."Carrie's parents both left leaving a sobbing Carrie to crumble to the bed in a ball. Kelly found herself wrapping herself around Carrie pulling her into her body as much as she could.



"Girls im so sorry...... I thought calling them would help."



"its OK mom....you tried........"Kelly looked down at the sobbing girl in her arms, her heart was breaking watching her cry so hard. Jeanne slipped out the door quietly leaving the girls alone.

"Mom....they OK up there."everyone else had left the house except Kelly's sister who was sitting at the bottom of the stairs.



"I think........it'll take some time to get over that little meeting but the two of them should be fine...."



"so its all true.......Carrie's pregnant?"



"she is."



"what about Kelly?"



"well lets just say I have a feeling in about 9 months ill be a grandmother again."
