28--Months Later

CHAPTER 28--Months Later

After quitting my job I decided to finish up my degree in journalism. I started this degree when I was 18 and dropped out because I had been going to school since I was 4, it was time for a break. I started out at a small university not far from my house but when my savings got to close to zero for comfort, had to sell my home and move back to Baltimore. The day I decided to move back. Angie and Dragon dropped me off at the airport. It was an emotional event. Dragon promised to visit and I knew I would see Angie often enough. We both grew up there and her parents still lived in Baltimore. I walked down the runway to board the plane and I heard a lot of commotion behind me.

"Keshia don’t leave please. I just need to talk to you. We can work this out."

I turn around and I see Vin being held back by airport staff and screaming at the top of his lungs. I know he knows better then to make this kind of scene in an airport. He'll make the papers for sure. I rushed onto the plane and took my seat. The last thing I need is to have a confrontation with him.

The plane takes off and as soon as the attendants start to serve drinks I order a double on the rocks. Laying my head back on the seat, I couldn’t believe the turn for the worst my life has taken. Chaos!!ing ing back to Baltimore what was I thinking. I don’t want to live in Maryland that’s the reason I left to begin with. Slowly I began to come unglued at the thought of how Vin has hurt me so badly, I needed to move to the other side of the US to get over him. When I was there I was living in fear that I would bump into him on the street, I would have to talk to him. One look into those eyes and all the feelings I have tried so hard to push away will come flooding back to the surface. "Noway!" I says to myself, getting up and going to the bathroom.

"How could he have done this to me," I say into the mirror.

I washed my hands and left the bathroom. Walking I could feel the alcohol kicking in. I stumbled down the aisle and ran smack into a beverage cart. I hit the floor like a ton of bricks and everything goes black. I wake up to a host of flight attendants. They all looked as if they had seen a ghost, questioning me about how I felt.

"I am fine," I say and they take me back to my seat bringing me two Advil for my head. I felt a little dizzy and had a headache but I was fine. My first two weeks back in Baltimore I was sick as a dog. It must have been the changing weather. Throwing-up had become a dreaded past-time. I was so weak I was missing classes left and right. I had been to the doctors several times and they couldn’t find anything wrong with me. My last trip is when they took blood and I was praying for the best. I started to feel better by the time I finally got the call. What he said was unbelievable and I cried for 3 days straight. The emotional days ahead only made school harder so, after the first semester I decided to quit. I managed to get a job at an advertising firm. They must have been desperate because I knew nothing about advertising. I actually did rather well considering. My nights were spent stuffing myself with my mom’s cooking. I was getting so big I could barely fit any of my clothes. My mom wanted me to move back home but I had to make a place of my own. I kept in touch with Electra, Dragon and Angie, they were all doing just fine. Everything was going fine and as the days passed I found Baltimore a little more appealing. I wrote a slogan for Johnson’s Inc. that was a hit and I got offered a promotion. I was shocked because I had only been there a few months. The downfall to that was I would have to move to Miami, FL. I debated for a bit but ultimately decided I should go. I would be making more money where it costs less to live.

"That’s not a bad deal." I thought.

So I packed my bags, loaded down my little car and hit the road.
