The Secrets Between us

Kelly sat nervously biting her nails the hard seat she was sitting on was making her shift around every few seconds.



"Kelly will you stop please........your making me nervous."



"sorry Car....its just this is so......I mean what will the doctor say..........God im so nervous."Carrie took Kelly's hand in her own she was thankful that the doctors waiting room was empty.



"Listen your mom set all this up...we can trust this doctor....shes not going to go running to the press...OK......lets just see if the baby is OK and get home........I promise you a back rub when we get home."



"shouldn't I be doing that to you.......I mean you are the pregnant one here."



"oh I'll get my turn.......ill just butter you up first....that way you'll be extra nice to me" Kelly couldn't resist Carrie when she was being so cute,looking around quickly noticing no one there she leaned in capturing the young blondes lips with her own. Carrie really didn't put up much of a fight, the past few days had been filled with Kelly's family it was hard to spend any time alone. They couldn't even be alone in Kelly's bedroom now,Kelly's brother in law had got the flu and Kelly agreed to take her niece in beside them so the baby didn't catch anything. Jeanne had thought it was a great idea to let both singers get used to being around a baby all the time,Carrie on the other hand didn't really think it was such a good idea. Between throwing up every two hours and a crying baby waking every 4 hours she had had about two hours sleep in 3 days. Not that she was complaining to much Kelly had been great through it all,getting up to rub her back every time she ran towards the bathroom, and watching Kelly with her niecee really set Carrie's mind a tease. Kelly had always joked that she never wanted kids that she would be a horrible mother but watching how sweet and gentle she was with her niece made Carrie envision what she would be like with their own baby. It still felt weird calling it their baby,she had been amazed that Kelly was so accepting although Carrie felt it had a lot to do with Jeanne if the older woman hadn't been so welcoming about the whole thing Kelly have freaked out long ago.



"Miss Underwood?" Kelly pulled away from Carrie to see the doctor standing in front of them,Kelly turned three shades redder and Carrie stood up pulling her with her.



"That's me............this is Kelly..."



"yes yes I know......we've met before miss clarkson..."



"we have....?"



"yes......long time ago now.....I delivered you...."with that the doctor walked back into her office leaving Carrie and Kelly to follow.

"Mum you didn't......why would you do that."Jeanne and Kelly's sister we both watching the men play a little heated game of football in the back garden.



"it has to be done Alyssa.........there are to many secrets around already.......I called your father first thing this morning and let him know what's going on......he seemed rather shocked but he didn't shout so thats got to be better than how Carrie's parents took it...."



"but mom its one thing calling dad to let him know.....but to call Clive.......Kelly will kill you this time...and I really don't think I could stop her."

"So your the first person to ever hold Kelly.....that's so cute." Kelly just rolled her eyes at Carrie,she really didn't find it that cute.



"I was......I happen to have had the privilege."



"do you remember her..... I mean you must have delivered hundreds of babies and you remember her........damn did she scream that loud........look what you did Kel scared the poor doctor." Kelly stuck her tongue out to Carrie really not liking all this talk about her birth.



"oh she screamed alright.....I know at that moment the girl would be a singer......the lungs were amazing."



"they still are" Carrie said in a dreamy way.



"yeah well thanks for the trip down memory lane but could we get back to why we're here."



"im sorry Kelly your right......Jeanne called me to explain everything and you need not worry about a thing......now Carrie if you would lay up on the table I will sent up the machine to see how your baby is."The doctor made herself busy while Kelly helped Carrie lay down before taking the seat next to her. The only thing going through Kelly mind was would she be able to see the baby on screen,she thought back to watching friends and how Rachel couldn't see her baby and it had to be pointed out to her. God was she really thinking about a TV show at a moment like this, she should be making sure Carrie was ok. Looking to Carrie she saw the young blonde taking a deep breath.



"hey you OK.?" Kelly whispered.



"yeah...."Carrie whispered back.



"OK now girls.... this machine will let you not only see but hear the baby...."



"hear it?" Kelly had an image of the baby doing karaoke in carrie's stomach.



"yes Kelly.....the heart beat."



"ohh .... ok" Carrie let out a loud laugh.



"you were imaging it singing weren't you."



"NO......Yes.......shut up." Carrie squeezed Kelly hand. She knew the young Texan hated being teased.



"ok lets start.....Carrie this will be cold."Carrie jumped feeling the jelly being poured onto her stomach."now by pressing this down onto your stomach we will see your baby."The doctor began moving around carrie's stomach looking for what she needed. Kelly's eyes were fixed on carrie's as the blonde looked towards the screen amazed even though she couldn't see anything yet. Kelly's heart swelled watching Carrie just before she was about to see her child for the first time. Sure Kelly was excited too but she knew it wasn't the feelings Carrie was having,she thought this must be what its like for fathers.



"OK Carrie, Kelly...see that little dot there."the doctor pointed towards the screen.



"oh I see that..."Kelly had jumped up from her seat.



"well thats good Kelly because that is your baby."the doctor smiled seeing Kelly fall back down on her seat.



"god car...... its beautiful."Carrie looked oddly at Kelly."don't give me that look.....I know its a dot....but that dots a baby a beautiful baby......its so small Carrie.....do you see it?"



"yeah Kelly I see......is everything OK doc?"



"well lets hear the heart beat first......right now all we know is there is a baby there."



"a beautiful baby." Kelly was still in a dream like state.



"yes Kelly a beautiful baby........OK lets hear the heart beat."the doctor turned some buttons before the room was filled with a loud sound.



"that's the heartbeat?"



"yes Carrie......that's your babies heartbeat."



"sounds like a train going through a tunnel..."



"does a bit... yes."this was the part of her job the doctor loved most, she loved seeing new mothers faces when they feel something new.



"why is it so fast.....is something wrong..."Kelly had been stunned at hearing the heartbeat was alarmed with it.



"no Kelly that's perfectly normal....its strong....everything seems fine so far......congrats.."the doctor went to turn off the machine before being stopped by Kelly.



"wait....what about my pictures....my sister got pictures."



"well Kelly people don't normally get pictures this early...they wait till they see the baby more...maybe in a few weeks."



"oh no no....I want pictures ....lots......large and small......and a few that will fit a key rings.....oh and mouse mat.." Carrie sat up laughing along with the doctor.



"baby... calm down....we don't need a mouse mat."



"but I want one....fine... but I do want a picture."



"Kelly I can print you off a strip of pictures if you like....but its very hard to see anything."



"don't care...I want one......ill make my own mouse mat." the doctor left laughing at Kelly behaviour.



"im going to have two babies to look after aren't I."



"come on car.....did you see that little thing....I cant believe that's inside of you."



"I can...it reminds me every night while im hanging over a toilet."



"hey don't take the joy out of this...... come here."Carrie let Kelly pull her into a hug.



"im glad your so excited about this kel.........."



"how could I not be......yeah I was scared at first but seeing how real it is on screen just made me fall in love with it."The doctor came back in with a white envelope handing it to Kelly.



"your pictures and appoint card for next time.....ill see you girls soon OK."



"thanks doc.....thanks for everything."



"no problem Kelly tell her mother I said hi."Both girls left the doctors quickly both deep in their own thoughts. Carrie could feel a pleasant warm feeling inside she know it was Kelly's doing.



"want to see the pictures now car."both girls were sitting in Kelly's car outside the hospital.



"yeah."Carrie sat silently looking at the picture running her finger over the little dot that was her baby.



"god car I think im in love....." Carrie looked up seeing Kelly focused on her own picture.



"should I be jealous."



"na baby......your still my number one......this one here will be my little number half of one." Carrie smiled at Kelly.



"your a dork."



"yes but im your dork."
