'This is a really nice table cloth....really thick....means it was expensive. And the paintings on the walls....Really pricey'



'Will you stop.' giggled Carrie.' what's got into you?'



'God I don't know' Kelly sighed. ' I'm nervous......this is our first date....I have the right to be nervous you know'



'Course.' Carrie held her hands up in defence. ' but this is me......there's nothing to be nervous about...its only dinner....im not proposing or anything.' Carrie's eyes went wide. ' Wait not that I would or anything.... I know we haven't even slept together...oh god.' Carrie covered her mouth so nothing else fell out.



'Don't worry Carrie...I know what you meant..' Pulling Carrie's hand away from her mouth Kelly placed her hand over it. ' Plus I don't think woman can marry just yet.'



'Actually we can.......' It was Kelly's turn to Cover her mouth.



'Since when?' she whispered, looking around making sure no one could hear them.



'This year.' Carrie copied her movement scanning the room herself before leaning in to whisper. ' and I wouldn't worry about people hearing us......they know we are on a date. '



' And how would they know that. ' Kelly asked sharply.



'Cause your holding my hand.' Carrrie pointed out.



Kelly pulled her hand from Carrie's placing it on her side of the table, Carrie only smiled. She understood why she would be scared, it took Carrie months of being open about her sexuality before she openly shown affections to a date. Carrie could wait, Kelly would soon realise that it was nothing to be ashamed about.



'So what's your plan for the next few weeks.... I mean do you have work or anything......wait do I have work or anything?' Kelly quizzed Carrie.



'Well...you are in the middle of recording an album...nothing you cant do at home.....and im on a 5 month break from it all........My last tour was a little sold out.......so im taking a break before I start it all again.'



'A little sold out?' Kelly asked. ' that mean your like super famous or something' Carrie laughed as Kelly put on a fake valley girl accent.



' Sure I do well.....not as well as you do but I get by' Kelly politely nodded as she took a sip of wine.



'What do you sing?'



'Country' Carrie responded.



'Wow......im impressed....i love country.' Carrie laughed.



' I know you do Kelly.'



'Sorry.' Kelly replied shyly. ' I kept forgetting you knew me before.....i was starting to think this was really a first date.'



'And it is.' Carrie quickly said. ' It is a first date........it's just hard for me.... I know all this stuff about you and you know nothing about me..... ' Carrie looked down at the table. ' It's just hard.' Kelly slipped her hand back into Carrie, she suddenly didn't care what the other diners thought.



' So tell me......tell me what I don't already know.' Carrie looked up to find Kelly smiling at her.



' well' she started. ' I was born in Oklahoma Mom's called Carolyn Dads called Steve....Got two older sisters Shanna and Stephanie had a pretty normal childhood. Lived on a farm......Boring you yet?' Carrie quizzed.



' No no...go on'



'OK.' Carrie smiled feeling Kelly grip her hand a little more. ' Nothing dramatic happened during my younger years. Sang in church got teased way to much by my older sisters. When I was about 13 I realised the boys in my class really weren't that cute....Just thought I had drawn the short straw and got the ugly boy class.' Carrie shrugged causing Kelly to giggle. ' then at 14 I realised I was in the cute girl class....by 15 I realised every class I had was cute girl class.'



'Well with you in it...the class had to be.' Kelly interrupted.



'sweet' Carrie commented. 'Anyway realised along with being gay that I wanted to be a singer. So after years of waiting for someone to offer me a singing contract, I watched a TV show......Really cute girl on it.' Kelly blushed, she knew what Carrie was getting at. ' After I saw her winning the show and watched her bringing out these great songs I knew that's what I wanted too, and I don't just mean the girl....I wanted that career too. So after entering the show myself I found myself winning, and trust me no one was more surprised than me. ' Kelly smacked her hand.



' Don't talk like that....I watched those shows.....you were amazing.' Carrie shrugged.



' I try...anyway...that's pretty much it.....now im just like you. making music I love and preforming it all around the world.' Carrie finished by taking a sip of wine.



'So you said you knew you were gay at 14.' Carrie knew this question would come first from Kelly.



'Yep..14.' Carrie Replied.



'And between 14 and now you've dated a few girls right?'



'Right' Carrie answered. It had been more than a few, in fact when Kelly began getting serious with Paul Carrie had dated a lot of woman. Most of the time it wasn't even dating. Casual flings that would end as soon as they had started, If the fling was short and blonde maybe they lasted most than a weekend. If one of them even had the smallest thing in common with Kelly Carrie would keep them around hoping they would be like Kelly more. But it always ended then same, no one could match up to her.



'Only girls?' Kelly asked Softly.



'Well no...I dated a few men too.......just for show....'



'Right.....I know how that goes.'



'Yeah well you ended that....no more woman or men for me.' Carrie said with a wink.



'How ....how do you know that'



'What do you mean?' Carrie asked curiously.



'Since you took me to meet Elle you've been so sure about everything.....Nothing seems to worry you...the future doesn't seem to scare you.' Carrie leaned forward taking both Kelly's hands in her own.



'Kelly your not remembering all the times before this....Ever look we gave each other.....all the promises we whispered to each other when we finally both admitted we were in love.....I know my future has you and Elle in it......I don't need to worry about that... and with time im going to help you not to worry any more. ' Carrie kept both Kelly's hands in hers as the waiter came with the bill. Kelly couldn't say anything, she only nodded letting Carrie know she was willing to accept her help in the future.



After Carrie paid for dinner she and Kelly made their way out to the car, Carrie being romantic held open Kelly's door as she got in.



'So everything OK?' Carrie asked as she got into the drivers side. 'I mean you had fun right?'



'Yeah I did.' Kelly smiled. 'I think this had to be my favourite first date......Thank you Carrie.'



'Well it's not over yet.....I've got one more thing I want to do.' Carrie pulled the car out of the car park before going down the long road away from the direction of their home.



After a short drive without any talking Carrie pulled the car to a stop in front of a park.. Doing what she did before Carrie held the door open helping Kelly out, still holding her hand she lead Kelly into the park. It was with only a few street lights to help them see their way.



'You taking me here to kill me or something aren't you.' Kelly whispered into the dark.



'shut up your spoiling the romantic setting' Carrie whispered back. After a few more minutes of walking Carrie came to a stop in front of a large tree.



'Why'd we stop' Kelly whispered.



'Kelly' Carrie stood in front of her. ' I haven't been honest with you.' Kelly held her breath waiting for Carrie to continue. ' You've been here before.....to the house I mean....when I first bought it you brought Elle up for a few days.....Paul was in Vegas with Friends......we spent the day in this park....you me and Elle.' Kelly looked around trying to remember something but all she could see was darkness.



'I don't remember' Kelly whispered. She could feel Carrie moving closer to her.



' I know.' she whispered, Kelly could feel her breath next to her ear. ' We sat at this tree.' Carrie ran her hand over it. ' Elle fell asleep over our knees.... you told me that it was the happiest you had been in so long....you didn't want to leave this tree.' Kelly ran her hand over it too. She felt Carrie's covering hers. 'When Elle woke up we carved our names into it.' Carrie guided Kellys hand down till they felt the deep dent of their names.



'I feel it.' Kelly whispered. She ran her hand over the three names over and over again.



'I told you then that you would be happy one day......i promised you you would.......i promised myself I would make you happy.' Kelly finally felt Carrie's lips brush against her cheek. Kelly stayed still to afraid to move in case it caused Carrie to stop. 'I only want you happy Kelly...no matter where you are...I want you to be happy.....Promise me you'll always be happy.' Carrie could feel the tears coming.



' I promise.' Kelly whispered. She turned her head to the side capturing Carrie's lips. She could feel the softness of Carrie's lips brush against her own. She felt the wetness of Carrie's tears land on her cheek, pulling back Kelly looked into her eyes before lightly kissing the tears away. ' Baby the only way for me to be happy is if your happy...and right now you don't seem so happy.'



' No no im happy...i am' Carrie brushed her hand over her eyes. 'Trust me these are happy tears.' She said before Kelly captured her lips again. This time Carrie took charge pressing Kelly against the tree as she deepened the kiss. The both stayed like that for as long as they could before getting back in the car and going home to Elle.
