Chapter 37

'Seriously Kel this place is amazing...where you find it?' Carrie asked taking another sip of wine.

'Oh some guy I met at the bar told me about it.....' Carrie raised an eyebrow.

'Guy at the bar huh?......Do I have to keep an eye on you?'

'Oh shut up.....he was the only one there.......He's buying the hotel....must have a lot of money for that....He says he's got a hotel in New York too... he wants to open a chain of them......He must be pretty smart to do all that....god I'm happy im a singer.....don't need collage degree for that.'

'Well you seemed to get to know him well......was he hitting on you? ' Carrie sounded like she was only joking but Kelly wasn't so sure.

'Well I think he was....hell it's been so long since someone hit on me I wouldn't know' Carrie put her wine glass down.

'I hit on you all the time.' Carrie looked hurt. ' Am I not good at it or something?'

Course you are' Kelly reassured. ' But you don't count....you have me...you don't have to hit on me.' Kelly shrugged, taking a sip of her wine. The bottle was almost finished and while Kelly could handle her drink Carrie was showing signs of it affecting her.

'Well it's my right to hit on you...so tell bar boy to leave you alone.' Carrie took another drink of wine leaving Kelly stunned at her sudden change of attitude.

'Yea...well..well we wont be seeing him again..were only here for one night.' Carrie was to busy draining the rest of her glass to hear what Kelly was saying. Carrie's mood had changed so much in ten minutes that Kelly didn't know what to say to her, so instead of the light chat they would usually have during dinner Kelly kept her eyes towards her plate. She has this feeling of dread inside her and she didn't know why. The way Carrie was acting was frightening her even if the blonde wasn't meaning to. Carrie wasn't talking either, she had ordered another bottle of wine and was now doing her best to finish it before dinner was over.

When dinner was finished Kelly tried her best to help Carrie walk back to the hotel but she was finding it difficult. Not only was the blonde taller than Kelly but the high heels she insisted on wearing to dinner was now causing a lot of trouble.

' I don't feel right Kelly......Stomachs a little funny.' Carrie took another stubble forward making Kelly grab on to her a little tighter. Kelly didn't know why but she felt to afraid to talk, she didn't want to annoy Carrie. Something in the bottom of her stomach made her keep her mouth shut. As they got to the hotel she could see the place was once again empty apart from the man sitting at the bar again. Guiding Carrie past it as fast as she could Kelly got her to the door of their room.

'Bar boy not here to listen to you again?' Carrie quizzed as Kelly pulled her into the room.

'I don't know what your talking about.' Kelly said coldly.

' He's all you could talk about at dinner......How wonderful he was....how good looking he was...hell im amazed your not out looking for him now.' Carrie fell back onto the bed with a bounce.

' I didn't say anything like that...I only told you what he told me.' Kelly began pulling off Carrie's shoe's and jeans. She didn't know why she was still trying to be nice to Carrie when she was acting like this but part of her didn't want to blonde waking up tomorrow being so uncomfortable.

'You want him...I know you do.' Carrie sat up till she was face to face with Kelly.' I can see it in your eyes' laying back down she rolled to her side. ' My mom was right......you would leave me.' Before Kelly could say anything Carrie passed out. Kelly sat stunned next to her snoring girlfriend, she didn't know where Carrie ideas were coming from but she knew the three bottles of wine at dinner really didn't help. If they were to have any kind of future together she knew Carrie would have to control her drinking. What ever had gone in Kelly's past the idea of the person you love getting drunk was scary for her and she didn't want to have to go through that again. She wouldn't go through that again.

Kelly couldn't sit in the hotel room alone while Carrie slept, she had great plans of laying together in bed falling asleep in each others arms but Carrie had made sure that wouldn't happen. Getting up Kelly checked herself in the mirror before grabbing her purse. She took one last look at Carrie making sure the blonde was OK before slipping out into the hall. After a ten minute wander through the hotel Kelly found herself at the bar, where the man still sat, glass in hand.

'Not got a room to go to?' Kelly asked as she sat down next to him.

'I've got twenty' he laughed causing Kelly to raise an eyebrow at him. ' I just signed the papers today....I now own it' He explained.

'Oh that's great...i'm so happy for you....' Kelly knew Carrie would hate her talking to him again but she wasn't going to let the blonde control her like her husband had.

'So where's your girlfriend?' He asked as he poured her a drink.

'Oh asleep.....she had a little to much fun at dinner.' Kelly sipped the drink, amazingly the stranger had gotten her favourite drink just right.

'Ah her fun at dinner mean you didn't get your fun after?' He laughed but Kelly didn't see the funny side, she really was never comfortable talking about her sex life with anyone. Let alone it be a stranger in a bar. He noticed her discomfort too. 'Sorry that was rude of me.'

'It's OK...im not comfortable talking about sex with a stranger.' Kelly explained.

'That's OK.....my wife was the same. ' He said as he took another sip of his drink. Kelly looked at his hand, there was no ring.

'Your married' she asked while pointing to his finger.

'I was...' He suddenly became serious. ' She died.' Kelly silently nodded. She never knew what to say when someone spoke of losing a loved one. Yea..i't was horrible' he continued.

'Was she ill?'

'No.' he took another sip.' She was murdered.'
