Baby Can I Hold You

Carrie woke up with a jolt slowly opening her eyes she didn't realise how bright day light was. Quickly covering her eyes with her hand she moved her other hand across the bed feeling for Kelly but all she got was cold sheets.



'Kelly.' Ok shouting isn't helping thought Carrie as she held her head in her hands. ' Kelly' she whispered. Her throat was so dry she could hardly get the words out. Finally having enough power to open her eyes and lift her head up she noticed a small note laying across her stomach.



'Gone with the hotel owner, there's a shop near by hoping to pick up some toys for Elle. Hope your mood's changed this morning. I've left pain killers and water by the bed. Take them. Be back soon

Carrie looked to her left seeing the water and pills sitting, before she could take them though she had to close the curtains before the sunlight damaged her eyes forever. She thought about Kelly's note, she didn't feel comfortable with her going out with a complete stranger but she wasn't Kelly's mother, she was a big girl who knew what she was doing. Finally making her way towards the window Carrie took a moment to look out, scanning the the river that surrounded the hotel Carrie felt her headache start to leave her. She knew she had been a complete bitch to Kelly and knew she would have to beg for forgiveness. Hopefully she would have the rest of the day to make it up to her before they had to leave for Carrie's parents house. Her eyes fell on the car park under her window, luckily her car was still in it's space which meant Kelly hadn't lied in the note and drove off without her. Carrie's eyes fell on another car, a man was busy putting things in the back while the passenger door closed, She watched the man carefully. Her heart began to beat faster than it had ever done before, her body knew what was going on before her head did. Looking into the car she saw blonde hair, she tried to scream but nothing came out. Quickly grabbing her keys she bolted out the door, she didn't think her body would move fast enough.

'So your little girl a big toy fan?' Paul asked as he got into the car.



'I think so.......anything to keep her quiet.' Kelly joked. She had told Paul all about Elle during their conversation in the middle of the night, she had been surprised how happy he seemed to be hearing about her little girl.



'Yea I know how that is.......' Paul turned back to the road pulling the car out of the car park and onto the open road.

Carrie's hands shook as she tried her hardest to get her keys into the car door, her mind was racing, she could remember seeing the big store as they drove into town. It had to be about ten minutes away, if she drove fast enough she could catch up with them, If that's where he was taking her, she could be anywhere by now, Carrie wasn't even sure she was going the right way. A thousand thoughts a minute were going threw her mind as she raced down the empty road, she thought of Kelly, did she know who she was with. Was he hurting her now, was she crying. Carrie's own tears came as she thought of Kelly being afraid. Her mind turned to Elle, the little girl was waiting for them to return, she would be waiting for Carrie the bring her mommy home, she had promised the little girl she would take care of her mother, she promised Kelly she would take care of her too. She broke all her promises last night, if she hadn't been so jealous her and Kelly could be laying in bed together right now.

Carrie saw the large store on the corner as she turned the car, She prayed out loud as loud as she could, she asked god, begged him to make Kelly ok. The car park was so big and full Carrie couldn't find the car anywhere. Abandoning the car Carrie began running up and down the lines of cars searching for the right one. Getting to the last line of cars Carrie still couldnt' see Paul's car she began shouting Kelly's name over and over again. As she ran back to her own car she still shouted till she got in, taking one last look around the car park Carrie moved back onto the road following the road she had just been on. She could hardly see the road in front of her as the tears fell from her eyes wiping them away as they fell Carrie began praying again, this time she talked directly to god. Telling him she would do what ever he wanted if he just let Kelly be ok, she promised him she would do things right this time if he just let her be ok. As she drove past a small garage Carrie's eyes caught the colour she had been looking for. The car screeched to a stop before Carrie even knew she had put her foot on the break, leaving the car on Carrie ran from it towards the blue car in front of her. Throwing herself towards the passenger door.



'Jesus.....Carrie' Kelly jumped in her seat. Carrie stood beside the window tears falling from her face, her chest raising and falling fast.



'Kelly out...hurry.' Carrie was pulled on the door until Kelly pushed it open.



'Carrie what are you doing?' Kelly felt Carrie her from the car dragging her towards their own car. Carrie didn't speak she just pushed and pulled till Kelly was safe inside her own car. Taking a look back towards the blue car she realised it would only be seconds before Paul noticed Kelly was gone. Running to her side of car carrie got in and drove. She still couldn't breath she looked to Kelly who was watching her.



'Are you ok.' Carrie shouted.. ' Did he hurt you?' Carrie pulled at Kelly till she could see she was ok.



'Carrie... what has got into you.....'



I....saw you from the hotel window....i saw you in the car with him....' The tears were still falling from Carrie's eyes.



'Are you serious.......Carrie stop the car.... im not going to have your jealously driving us both crazy...so I was talking to him...doesn't mean you have the right to drag me away like you own me..where do you have the right....'



'It's him Kelly. ' Carrie cut her off.' That's Paul your husband.' Carrie kept her eyes on the road, the tears still came, she was so close to losing her. Carrie kept her eyes on the road as Kelly began to cry silently beside her.
