The Secrets Between us

Both doctors huddled round the machine taking notes and ignoring Kelly’s constant questions. Its all Kelly can do to keep Carrie down on the bed the young blonde has been trying to get up to see what the doctors are looking at. After what seemed like a life time both doctors turn to the singers.



"I’ve brought Dr Giles in to help me confirm a few things....Carrie it seems your placenta has moved slipping lower than it should. This is what’s known as placenta previa." The doctor paused letting the words sink in for both singers. None of them really knew what the doctor was talking about but by the tone of her voice they knew it wasn’t good. "Now a few things can happen but what we are hoping for is that the placenta will shift again into a better place in your womb. What we don’t want happen is that it slips lower this will be harmful of you and the baby. For this not to happen we will need you to have complete bed rest for the near future.....and i mean complete Carrie....the only time you should be on your feet is to go to the bathroom....no hot showers or baths......from now on its bed baths for you."



"But...but is the baby ok?" Carrie could hear the strain in Kelly’s voice as she tried to get her head round the doctors words.



"for now Kelly.....listen the baby is not in any pain and is not distressed at all......but if you don’t do as i say the baby could come into danger......."the doctor cleared her throat looking at both girls, she felt she had ruined their life’s with this.



"Is there anything else we need to do doctor."Carrie was holding herself together good, She knew she couldn’t stress herself out more.



"yes....don’t eat to much....dont eat things that would be stressful on the baby....spicey foods things like that......and also......no sex." Kelly could feel her cheeks burn.



"No sex?"



"yea Carrie.....sex could cause pressure on the baby even more........so until its born there has to be no sex of any kind..." The male doctor that had been standing very quietly in the corner through the whole conversation stepped forward whispering into the female doctors ear. "my god i forgot all about that.........Girls while looking at your scan the first time i found out another things that you may need to prepare for...."Kelly didn’t know how much more news she could take, her whole world was coming crashing down around her. " i really shouldn’t be focusing on one baby its really not fair on the other one." the doctor stopped giving a little smile to both girls. Kelly really wasn’t catching on.



"listen doc....i would really rather not hear about someone elses baby while your talking about mine..so if you could...."



"honey honey....."Carrie had caught on a lot quicker that Kelly was." i think she means we're having twins."



"twins?"



"twins"



"twins as in two babies.....that’s like two heads four arms and legs four eyes and......that’s like what.........20 fingers and 20 toes...."



"look at the my baby can count." Carrie tried bringing in a little laughter into what had been a heavy appointment so far.



"Yes Kelly..... it means all that.......its the reason Carrie is so big."



"im big.....since when have i been big......you told me i was small."Carrie pointed a finger at Kelly who just gave dirty looks at the doctor.



"well like i was saying girls.......just do what i say and in a few weeks we will see how things are....but in any way you feel something isn’t right i want you straight back here ok ." both girls nodded as the doctors head for the door.



"oh doc.....what are we having."



"ah glad you asked Kelly......you will be welcoming a little girl and her brother in a few months.......ill go get you some pictures..." the doctor smiled sweetly before closing the door behind them.



"Twins....." Kelly still couldn’t believe it.



"bed rest." carries mind was somewhere else bring Kelly out of her day dream.



"baby we'll get by this.......if we just do as were told things will be ok.....i can feel it."



"i need you to keep that thought kel......i need you to be strong for me....."



"im always strong for you baby.......you think im going to let something come along and take my family away like that.......you just do and the doctor says and ill take care of everything else." Kelly’s words didn’t really match what she was feeling inside, she felt like someone had taken out her heart jumped all over it and placed it back in her chest but she wasn’t about to let Carrie know that. Instead she would be strong and help her family through this.
