'Stop waving so hard...they'll think your happy.'



'I am happy.' Carrie waved again as she watched the last car leave the drive way.' OK Elle now.' Jumping up and down Elle managed to close the gate using the remote.



'Did it mommy'



'Good girl....Now we can relax.' Carrie turned to see Kelly with an angry look on her face. 'Oh come on .......your happy they've left too.'



'OK fine I am I just don't like showing it.......plus your mother and sister are still here' Kelly pointed towards her mothers car hidden behind her own.



'What?.....I thought they were first out.'



'They want to talk to you before they leave.' Carrie stomped her foot. 'Are you three?' Kelly asked.



'No...but she's making me feel like I am....'



'Just listen to her....maybe she's going to say sorry.'



'Yea and maybe we will get threw a whole make out season without Elle walking in on us'



'I heard that' Elle stood by the front door.



'Said it loud enough.' Carrie stuck her tongue out.



'Aren't you supposed to be the adult here?' Elle quizzed.



'Aren't children supposed to be seen and not heard.'



'Aren't....'Elle stopped and looked at her mom.' I don't know what that means'



'It means I win' Carrie picked up her daughter swinging her over her shoulder.

'OK...im listening.' Carrie sat across from her mother as she held Joseph in her arms,Kelly thought taking the baby in with her would maybe cause Carolyn to act nice.



'I see you keeping him' Carolyn pointed out.



'Yes...if they say we can...we plan to keep him.'



'You may as well paint a target on your back and wait for Paul to show up.'



'Mom.....I wont go through this again.'



'Just listen to me for once Carrie....for once in your life please just listen.' Carrie sat back on her chair and waited for her mother to continue. ' He's a dangerous man...and you seem so happy to have him angry at you....why would you risk so much for this.'



'For this?..........This is my family.'



'Will you stop saying that....Carrie for god sake this is not your family....this is Paul's family and all your doing is making him more and more angry....why can't you see that.'



'OK im sorry but I cant listen to any more of this.' Carrie turned to see her girlfriend walking towards them. ' Where do you get off.......you have no right to talk to her like that.' Kelly took Joseph from Carrie placing him in his swing.



'Kelly it's my right as her mother to protect her.'



'Your not protecting her....your putting her down ....your upsetting her..'



'She's living in a fantasy world....she thinks this belongs to her.'



'This does belong to her.....we belong to her....and I know that's not what you want for her but tough....this is what she's got.'



'I see she's taken you into this fantasy world too.'



'What is it you really want.' Kelly tried her hardest to stay calm, she could feel Carri's hand on her back as she spoke. ' You tell Carrie your worried about Paul hurting her and you tell me your working about her hurting me....what is it you really mean......what's so wrong with this?'



'It's not normal.' Carrie's mother stood placing both her hands on the table in front of her.' This is not normal....two woman raising kids....this is not what I want for my daughter.' Carrie watched as the tears came to her mothers eyes, as she threw herself back onto her chair.



'But don't you see that Carrie would have this with or without me?.....she's gay..she's always been gay why are you so angry about it now.?'



'Cause it's real now' Carolyn wiped away the tears from her eyes.' Before when she was just running around with girls I could pretend that whenever the right man came along she would settle down....but now...now I see the way she looks at you and I see how much she loves you.....now I can see that it wont happen.....I know she's really gay now.' Carolyn covered her mouth with her hand as she let the tears fall, Kelly really couldn't find the words to make her feel better. She had worried her own mother would act like this but she had taken it all so well, she hadn't expected Carrie's mother to be the one to break.



' Want me to call my mother back?' Carrie looked towards Kelly.' She's good at these kinds of things' she shrugged.



'No dear' Carolyn wiped her tears away. ' im just an old lady who's not getting her own way...it'll be OK.'



'Oh your not that old.' Kelly tried.
