"Acting is a Terrible Sin"
Five Years later
Darren sat on the floor of his tiny bedroom scribbling furiously on a parchment. He was writing a new play, his third, For he and his best friend, Daniel to act out. It was about A man named Derek who was btrothed to an awful man named Herbert, when Derek was in love with Herbert's brother, David. He was trying to profess his love for Daniel without actualyy telling him. This situation was going to become very tricky, considering Darren and Hugh were to be married the following year. Darren felt he could never forgive his parents for forcing him to marry someone, much less someone he despised and who despised him. At that moment,. his father came into his room.
"What on Earth are you writing?" Robert asked his son.
"Oh, it's nothing, really"
"Well then let's see it," Robert said, motioning for the paper.
"I don't thinkl you want to, father," Darren said uneasily, not knowing how his father would react to his passion for acting, and embarrassed at his being caught after five years of careful hiding.
"Don't be silly, son, now give me the paper or I'm going to have to punish you." he said sternly. Darren knew there was no arguing this. He handed his father the parchment. Robert skimmed over the page and then looked at his son in a horrified manner. "Where did you get this?" His father asked increduluosly.
"I, um, wrote it," Darren croaked as his father shredded the paper.
"Darren Stanley Hayes, have you no idea that this is a sin? I will not have it in my house! How will thwe Baron react when he finds out his bride to be is an actor? I am disapointed in you son, I hope you understand how serious this is," Robert finishen, staring at his son who found the floor quite interesting.
"I'm sorry father. I was only playing," Darren said, strill not looking at his father. "It won't hapen again." He flinched as his father hugged him in response.
"I only want what;s best for you, please try to understand that,"
"Of couse father," Daren said, ashamed that his father had seen him this way. When he had finally been released, he raced to the garden, to find Daniel waitiong for him.;
"Sorry, DAniel, my father caught me writing a play. It wasn't pretty."
"I can only imagine; My Mother caught me last week, and it took all I had not to laugh at the way she reacted. It was hilarious. Iswear, she can be such a riot sometimes," Daniel said and the two young men laughed for nearly an hour. When their laughter subsided, Daren had lost his courage to tell DAniel he loved him. After that day, Daren decided to write by firelight, after his parents had gone to bed, or in the SAvage Garden.
