Authors Note: Hi loves, I’m pretty new to posting so be gentle please :]

It was just one of those days, a sickeningly perfect day. The sun was burning bright, its rays sinking into my skin and painting me golden. The smell of freshly cut grass and vibrant over sized flowers filled the sultry air and made me feel pleasantly lightheaded. We drank lemonade like whiskey as we hid from heats fury. We were willing prisoners to summer, welcoming its spell that spun around our heads and erased all the memories of bitter winds and falling snow.

There were no thoughts of the sun setting and the warm breezes like the whispered secrets of the dead being chased away by a resentful chill. We were love drunk off of sunshine. Ignorance is not bliss, but oblivion was. Time had no meaning in this world, our own private world where nothing could harm.

Hot sand licked at our bare feet turning our painted toes to fragile glass. We could be mermaids as the ocean waves tried to swallow us whole. Drifting away on our backs, gentle currents leading the way, we could find paradise. We could get so blissfully lost.

At that time we’d honestly thought that the world we built could last forever. None of us had a clue that one by one the stones of our wall would fall to the ground and turn to dust before our eyes. Even as we fell to our knees and sifted the silky dust between our fingers, grabbing fistfuls and wiling them to turn them back into bricks nothing happened. We threw the dust to up the heavens hoping it to rain down like glitter. The sun was taken prisoner by miles of grey sky and the wind grew violent, screaming words or heartache into our ears.

Nothing would ever be the same.
